So, You Want To Be A Nun Or Monk
This isn't not for me but for some people, this is the perfect life.
From the Kokomo Tribune:
For most of her life, Sister Mary Bernadette has woken up at the stroke of midnight, stood up from the straw mattress inside her cell, and walked barefoot to the small chapel inside the Monastery of the Poor Clares.
There, she gathers with the 10 other nuns at the monastery, located on the far west side of Kokomo, just outside the city limits.
In the dead of night, the sisters offer up prayers for the sick, suffering and afflicted. They pray for the weak and the powerful. They pray for the famous and the forgotten.
But of all the nuns, Sister Bernadette has been the one praying the longest.
On Sunday, she celebrated her 100th birthday, making her the oldest living and longest serving sister in the Order of Saint Clare – a contemplative order in the Catholic Church founded in the 13th century with monasteries spread across the U.S. and all over the world.
Prayer is what Sister Bernadette does, and she’s been doing it in poverty in privacy ever since she was 18.
She first joined the order in 1932 as a postulate at the monastery in Chicago. She took her first official vows of poverty, obedience and chastity four years later, giving up her birth name, Mary Yarc.
Those vows destined Sister Bernadette to an austere, isolated life.
Poor Clares own nothing. They sleep in small rooms known as cells on straw mats that lay on wooden planks. They don’t wear shoes. They don’t eat meat. Their only clothing is the simple, brown habit.
Poor Clares wake up at 5 a.m. every day – after their midnight prayer session – to begin a strict regimen of prayer and work. They don’t leave the monastery except for medical appointments or other emergencies. When people come to visit, they stay behind a screen to avoid physical contact. http://www.kokomotribune.com/local/x1927830064/Sister-Mary-Bernadette-is-the-oldest-longest-serving-Poor-Clares-nun-in-the-country-maybe-even-the-world?zc_p=0
Supremes Rule Against Democrats And Unions
From Fox News: The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, ruled Monday that public-sector unions cannot collect fees from home health care workers who don't want to be part of a union.
The ruling is a setback for labor unions that have boosted their bargaining power -- as well as their bank balance -- in states like Illinois, by signing up thousands of in-home care workers and forcing them to fork over union dues.
The decision was handed down Monday by the Supreme Court in the final session of its nine-month term.
The case, which deals with home care workers in Illinois, could eliminate automatic dues deductions for public-sector unions. The court also ruled on a challenge by for-profit businesses, including art-and-crafts company Hobby Lobby, regarding the requirement in ObamaCare to provide free contraceptive coverage.
In the union case, plaintiff Pamela Harris serves as the primary caretaker for her son, Josh, who has a rare genetic syndrome. She receives Medicaid funds and essentially functions as a state employee.
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare Illinois-Indiana, the union that represents publicly employed home care workers, automatically deducts membership dues from employees’ paychecks under the collective bargaining agreement it has with the state.
Harris, as well as a handful of other personal care providers, sued Illinois, demanding it stop labor unions from collecting fees from workers who refuse representation. They argue that forcing them to pay the fees violates their First Amendment rights.
Writing for the court, Associate Justice Samuel Alito said home care workers are different from other types of government employees because they work primarily for their disabled or elderly customers and do not have most of the rights and benefits of state employees.
The case involves about 26,000 Illinois workers who provide home care for disabled people and are paid with Medicaid funds administered by the state. In 2003, the state passed a measure deeming the workers state employees eligible for collective bargaining. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/30/supreme-court-rules-against-unions-in-home-healthcare-worker-case/
This case is a rebuke for the Democrats in Illinois who stronged-armed the plaintiffs by passing a law forcing them into a union or pay union dues by making them State employees.
What is shocking is that the vote was 5-4- it should have been 9-0.

The ruling, however, was limited to health care workers and not all private-sector unions. It also stopped short of overturning decades of practice that allowed public-sector unions to pass representation costs to non-members.

Shock: Supreme Rule Against ObamaCare For Hobby Lobby
I, for 1 am pleasantly surprised with this Supreme Court decision involving Hobby Lobby and contraception.
From Fox News:
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that certain "closely held" for-profit businesses can cite religious objections in order to opt out of a requirement in ObamaCare to provide free contraceptive coverage for their employees.
The 5-4 decision, in favor of arts and crafts chain Hobby Lobby and one other company, marks the first time the court has ruled that for-profit businesses can cite religious views under federal law. It also is a blow to a provision of the Affordable Care Act which President Obama's supporters touted heavily during the 2012 presidential campaign.

"Today is a great day for religious liberty," Adele Keim, counsel at The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty which represented Hobby Lobby, told Fox News.
Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion in the ObamaCare case, finding the contraceptive mandate in its current form "unlawful." The court's four liberal justices dissented.
The court stressed that its ruling applies only to corporations that are under the control of just a few people in which there is no essential difference between the business and its owners.
But Alito held that in the case before the court, the religious objections cited were legally legitimate, under a law that bars the government from taking action in certain cases that "substantially burdens" freedom of religion. He noted that fines for one company could total $475 million per year if they did not comply with the ObamaCare rule.
"If these consequences do not amount to a substantial burden, it is hard to see what would," Alito wrote. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/30/supreme-court-hobby-lobby/
I am surprised at this ruling because I thought the Justices would say that this will open up a can of worms, allowing companies to opt out of laws they disagree with. For instance, if a company or individual was against the war in Afghanistan refused to pay taxes or fees or a Cliven Bundy refusing to pay income taxes because he hates the federal government.
I wonder if John Roberts regrets his vote for ObamaCare a few years ago and now will vote against every time it comes to the Supreme Court.
But I am watching CNN now and their talking heads are now exploding right on TV.

NPRI Going After CCEA (Teacher's Union)
I got this e-mail today from NPRI:
Dear Friend,
We are just two days away from the crucial two-week window when Nevada teachers can opt out of their union.
Two days from our biggest push yet to reach teachers all across the Silver State!
I assure you, union bosses are panicking right now. That’s because 1,450 Nevada teachers have left the teacher union behind over the past two years — costing the unions more than a million dollars in lost annual dues.
They’re panicked because they know that many more teaches want to leave, and will do exactly that if they find out they have a choice.
And this year, you and I will reach more teachers than ever before!
Union bosses work hard to keep teachers in the dark regarding their right to leave the union. So we have taken the information directly to teachers. For the third year in a row, we’re reaching out to teachers to inform them of their rights, but this year we’ve added a new element: We’ve put billboards up in the Las Vegas Valley, prominently featuring the information teachers need to leave the union if they choose to do so. That message has already reached thousands of teachers, and our billboards will remain up throughout the two-week opt-out period spanning July 1 to July 15.
Can you imagine the reaction from a union boss driving by one of our billboards for the first time?
With the beginning of the opt-out period just two days away, I hope you will take this opportunity to support our final push to reach as many teachers as possible.
This is our last chance in 2014 to let teachers know that they can leave the union!
Your support could help a Nevada teacher save hundreds of dollars, while also sending a powerful message to the union bosses that teachers deserve to know their rights.
The time to act is right now! I hope we can count on your support.
Sincerely,
Having been a teacher in CCSD an a member of the CCEA, I would urge my teacher friends to opt out the union.
Quite frankly, the union is not only weak, it is incredibly weak. While you have some union activists in the union, you also have elected leaders who are sucks up and plants by the CCSD administration, whose only purpose is to sabotage individual teachers and go to bat for principals and other administrators.
So, to those teachers who belong to the CCEA, opt out save yourself about $130 a month because you get nothing for that money from the union.

Seriously?
From the Chicago Tribune: A group of Sufi Muslims took to Chicago’s streets Sunday to say an emblem used by Italian perfume-maker Roberto Cavalli smacks of insensitivity and is an affront to their faith.
The outrage stems from a logo for the Just Cavalli line that is shaped similarly to a Sufi symbol that represents “Allah,” or God, and has been revered by the faithful for decades as a sign of love and unity. Cavalli has used its logo on ads for its perfumes and clothes, including some particularly troubling to Sunday’s demonstrators that featured mostly naked models with the logo tattooed on their necks.
The symbol “means everything that the advertisement isn’t,” said Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh, a Chicago psychologist and student of Sufism who was among about 100 anti-Cavalli demonstrators on the Magnificent Mile.
The company has denied charges of ripping off the sacred symbol, and a European Union trademark commission recently sided with Cavalli when Sufis requested that the corporation be barred from using the logo. Roberto Cavalli officials didn’t respond to an interview request from the Tribune on Sunday.
The protest in Chicago, which took place during the first weekend in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, is part of a global effort to put pressure on the company. A change.org petition started in the United Kingdom has more than 3,000 signatures, and demonstrations have taken place in California, Texas, Germany and elsewhere. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-perfume-protest-in-chicago-20140629,0,3786149.story
Yeah, a total of 3,000 out of the world's population of 5,000,000,000. That'll impress them.

Mexico Loses On A Flop
From Fox Sports: Mexico's second-round curse at the World Cup remains unbroken.
Playing in the round of 16 for the sixth straight tournament, the Mexicans looked like they had finally done everything right against the Netherlands on Sunday.
Their rigid defense was holding the free-scoring Dutch at bay, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made some spectacular saves, and their string of first-half chances produced a goal from Giovani Dos Santos just after the break.
It all unraveled in the 88th minute.
Ochoa couldn't be everywhere at Arena Castelao, and Wesley Sneijder finally beat him with a shot aimed low. A few minutes later, Klaas Jan Huntelaar won it for the Dutch, scoring an injury-time penalty to make it 2-1 after Arjen Robben was taken down by Rafael Marquez.
"The boys are very sad. It was really very painful to go out this way," Mexico coach Miguel Herrera said. "We were eliminated because of an invented penalty.
"Robben did three dives and he should have been cautioned. You should caution a guy who is trying to cheat, and then if Robben did it again, he would be sent off.
And why did FIFA choose a referee from the same confederation as Holland instead of one from South America, Asia or Africa?
"The doubtful decisions were always against us. We have to say it in capital letters, in three matches we had horrible refereeing. The man with the whistle knocked us.
"I want the referee committee to take a look and that the referee goes home just like us." http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/mexico-coach-herrera-lets-rip-at-robben-referee-fifa-after-defeat-063014
I watched the game and the referee could have called several penalty kicks earlier in the game and he didn't call them.
Then, when time is running out, he then calls for a penalty kick and while the Hollander was a great actor when he flopped, so was the ref as he showed the yellow card immediately to the supposed offender.
Mexico was robbed.

He's The Best They Come Up With?
From Fox News:
President Obama plans to nominate former Procter and Gamble executive Robert McDonald to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, sources confirm to Fox News.
The president is expected to make the announcement on Monday. The nomination comes on the heels of a critical White House report which cited a "corrosive culture" at the department that has come under fire for making veterans endure long wait times while misrepresenting their own internal numbers.
"The VA needs significantly improved transparency and accountability and it needs an increased number of doctors, nurses and other medical staff so that all eligible veterans get high-quality health care in a timely manner," he said in a statement.
McDonald, 61, is a native of Gary, Ind., who grew up in Chicago. He was at the helm of Proctor and Gamble -- a Fortune 500 company with more than 120,000 employees -- from July 2009 to July 2013. While there, he was known for trying to make steep cuts to the company's large staff, but was also replaced last year for various reasons. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/29/sources-obama-to-nominate-ex-pg-head-to-lead-veterans-affairs/?intcmp=latestnews
This wasn't a partisan appointment because, by checking the FEC (Federal Election Commission) McDonald has donated to mostly Republican causes and candidates.
I am sure McDonald is a good guy but has he ever run a hospital or chain of hospitals? Is he familiar with all the red tape and regulations, like the HIPPA law?
I would have preferred someone with hospital experience, but let's see what happens with this guy.

Obama The Stupid
President Obama the Clownmust think the majority of people are stupid (well, maybe they are since this clown was elected 2 times)
Well Obama tried to pull a fast one the other day,
From Politico: The sarcastic bear is loose, and he’s loving every minute of it.
President Barack Obama is letting his inner Don Rickles run free, mocking climate deniers as the crowd who used to think the moon was made out of cheese or spineless dopes who can’t or won’t listen to science even though the science is all overwhelmingly pointing in one direction. Their heads are in the sand. They are members of the Flat Earth Society....
“In Congress,” he said. “Folks will tell you climate change is hoax or a fad or a plot. A liberal plot.”
Then, Obama said, there are the people who duck the question. “They say, hey, I’m not a scientist, which really translates into, I accept that man-made climate change is real, but if I say so out loud, I will be run out of town by a bunch of fringe elements that thinks climate science is a liberal plot so I’m going to just pretend like, I don’t know, I can’t read,” Obama said....
“I’m not a doctor either, but if a bunch of doctors tell me that tobacco can cause lung cancer, then I’ll say, okay. Right? I mean, it’s not that hard,” Obama said, managing not to mention that he kept smoking himself at least through his first term.

So, most of Obama's adult life, he has been a smoker and may even continue to smoke this day.
So, Obama has/had been a denier that cigarettes can cause cancer otherwise he would not have smoked all these years.
Obama and liberals has been wrong on so many issues, why should we ever believe them?
And as everyday passes, there is more and more evidence this thing they call Climate Change is a complete and total fraud, made up by people who have a financial stake in saying there is global warming/climate change. People like Al Gore, professors who get grants for saying there is climate change and NOAA employees who would be out of a job if there was no climate change.
And I am proud to be part of the "Flat Earth Society".
Too Bad, Too Sad
From the North Jersey.com: A million-dollar lottery ticket sold in Mahwah is buried somewhere in a Canadian landfill, say two men who claim they bought it, threw it away and are now suing the Lottery Commission to try to get the money.
Salvatore Cambria and Erick Onyango, of Suffern, N.Y., say they threw the Powerball ticket away because they thought it was a loser after checking the winning numbers on the lottery’s website — which, they claim, hadn’t been updated.
This wasn’t just any Powerball drawing: It was the $338 million jackpot from March 23, 2013, won by Passaic resident Pedro Quezada. Quezada won the grand prize by getting every number right, including the Powerball.
Cambria said his ticket had every correct number except the Powerball, a combination that would have won him the consolation prize of $1 million.
The men say the lottery doesn't have to take their word on this. News reports at the time of the drawing document that a Mahwah 7-11 sold a $1 million winner that was unclaimed. And Cambria and Onyango believe there is an easy way to prove they had the winner.
The ticket was one of three that Onyango says he purchased that day at the 7-Eleven. He kept the first and third tickets for himself and gave the middle one — the one he says is the winner — to Cambria.
Unlike Cambria, who threw out his ticket as soon as he thought it was a loser, Onyango held on to his two....
It’s now been more than a year since the drawing. The men filed their lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Trenton on Tuesday demanding the million-dollar prize and arguing that the lottery was at fault for failing to update its website in a timely way.
In an interview on Wednesday, Cambria said he asked Onyango the night of the drawing to check the lottery’s website for the winning Powerball numbers. This was several minutes after the 11 p.m. drawing, Cambria said. But the numbers that Onyango read, they learned later, were from the previous drawing.
“So I took my ticket, which was worth a million dollars, and I put it in a cigarette pack and put it in the garbage in my bedroom,” Cambria said. http://www.northjersey.com/news/two-men-say-they-threw-away-a-1m-lottery-ticket-sue-nj-to-collect-1.1041330?page=all
Sorry while everything they said may be true, they still threw out the ticket and the ticket is needed to claim the prize. It's pretty clear in the rules that you need to produce the winning ticket.
Just a waste of the court's time with Dumb and Dumber.
Lookie Here Who Has The 2nd Best Record In Baseball
So, who has the 2nd best record in Major League baseball?
New York Yankees?
Boston Red Sox?
LA Dodgers?
No, No and no.
It's the Milwaukee Brewers and they lead the National Central division by 61/2 games over Saint Louis. Only the Oakland Athletics have a better record than the Brewers.
ObamaVille: The Massacre Continues
I was watching one of these reality news shows today and they pretended that President Obama, Mayor and Obamaite actually cared about the shootings going on in Chicago. It is clear as they don't give a crap.
From the Chicago Sun Times:
From the Chicago Sun Times:
Sixteen people were wounded — one fatally — in shootings across the city since Friday evening.
The fatal shooting happened Saturday morning in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Ronnie Amos, 42, was found shot in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue at 8:54 a.m., authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:26 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
Among the non-fatal shootings, was a teenage boy wounded Friday evening near Rainbow/PUSH headquarters in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side, officials said.
The 17-year-old was walking about 7:35 p.m. in the 4900 block of South Drexel Boulevard when a minivan drove up and someone inside fired shots, striking the teen in the back, police said.
PUSH was conducting its annual convention when the shooting happened. http://www.suntimes.com/28371139-761/1-dead-16-injured-in-city-shootings-since-friday-evening.html#.U6_M1pnn-1s
According to Operation PUSH, gun violence is only their most important issue.
But if you go by their news releases, well the gun violence doesn't merit any response, at least from Sept. 2013: http://rainbowpush.org/news
So, it appears the organization that loves to into issues across the Country has no interest in the shootings and killings in their own neighborhood.
Way to go Jesse Jackson. And this clown cars about the civil rights of others? Yeah right.
More Scandal: Military Hospitals Also Suck
And some idiots out there think that the government should run health care, but if they cannot even handle the VA and military hospitals, why should be given the responsibility of everyone's health care?
From the Minneapolis Tribune: Jessica Zeppa, five months pregnant, the wife of a soldier, showed up four times at Reynolds Army Community Hospital here in pain, weak and fighting a fever. The last time, she said she was not leaving until she could get warm.
From the Minneapolis Tribune: Jessica Zeppa, five months pregnant, the wife of a soldier, showed up four times at Reynolds Army Community Hospital here in pain, weak and fighting a fever. The last time, she said she was not leaving until she could get warm.
Without reviewing her file, nurses sent her home anyway, with an appointment to see an oral surgeon to extract her wisdom teeth.
Zeppa returned the next day, in an ambulance. She was airlifted to a civilian hospital, where despite relentless efforts to save her and her baby, she suffered a miscarriage and died Oct. 22, 2010, of complications from severe sepsis, a bodywide infection.
Medical experts hired by her family said later that she most likely would have survived had the medical staff at Reynolds properly diagnosed and treated her....
The Zeppa case is emblematic of persistent lapses in protecting patients that emerged from an examination of the nation’s military hospitals, the hub of a sprawling medical network — entirely separate from the scandal-plagued veterans system — that cares for 1.6 million active-duty service members and their families.
Internal documents depict a system in which scrutiny is sporadic and avoidable errors are chronic.
Records indicate that the mandated safety investigations often go undone: From 2011 to 2013, medical workers reported 239 unexpected deaths, but only 100 inquiries were forwarded to the Pentagon’s patient-safety center, where analysts recommend how to improve care.
Higher complication rates
At the same time, by several measures considered crucial barometers of patient safety, the military system has consistently had higher than expected rates of harm and complications in two central parts of its business — maternity care and surgery.
More than 50,000 babies are born at military hospitals each year, and they are twice as likely to be injured during delivery as newborns nationwide, the most recent statistics show. And their mothers were more likely to hemorrhage after childbirth than mothers at civilian hospitals, according to a 2012 Pentagon analysis.
In surgery, half of the system’s 16 largest hospitals had higher than expected rates of complications over a recent 12-month period, the American College of Surgeons found in 2013. Four of the busiest hospitals have done poorly on that metric year after year. http://www.startribune.com/nation/265065421.html#Dluolth4RCDbCRT1.97
Just say no to single payer/socialized health care.
"It probably wasn’t his smartest move,”
From the Minneapolis Tribune:
A 17-year-old boy doing a handstand on a second-floor railing fell to the first level of the Mall of America Saturday afternoon, but police and mall officials said he apparently suffered only a minor injury.
At his parents’ request, the boy, from Minneapolis, was taken by ambulance to a hospital to be evaluated, said Rick Hart, Bloomington’s deputy police chief.
“It probably wasn’t his smartest move,” Hart said shortly after the 2:30 p.m. incident.
“It’s looking like he’s going to be OK,” said Dan Jasper, a mall spokesman. Jasper called the accident “horseplay,” adding that mall security and paramedics had rushed to help the teen as shoppers looked on.
The boy was at the mall with his parents, Hart said, but they were not with him when he fell.
Hart said he didn’t think the boy would be cited, but perhaps he learned a painful lesson.
“They said he was goofing off, and now he’s hurt, so maybe he won’t do that again,” Hart said. http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/265053851.html#gO2P5AcCQ59o1X5e.97
Umm, my guess is that he will try something even more stupid.
Gays Cancel Cub's Game
Well, at least the Cubbies won't lose on Sunday.
From the Chicago Tribune:
The Cubs will enjoy a rare off day on Sunday.
Very rare.
For the first time in 82 years there is no game scheduled for the Cubs on a Sunday.
"That's unheard of. We already have some family plans for that day. Maybe this can become a regular thing," Cubs president Theo Epstein said jokingly. "Let's play two — Ernie (Banks) style Saturday and enjoy a nice day of rest Sunday. But, no, it will be interesting."
It was announced in February the Cubs would play a split doubleheader on Saturday and be off Sunday. The move was made in consideration of the city's concern over neighborhood traffic with Sunday's annual Pride Parade in Wrigleyville.
The last time the Cubs did not have a scheduled game on a Sunday was June 19, 1932. That year, the Cubs and Giants played a doubleheader on Saturday, June 18, and then had Sunday off before playing in Philadelphia on Monday. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-sunday-off-bits-cubs-nationals-spt-0629-20140629,0,4071904.story
Chicago is a huge city, area wise, especially if you include the suburbs, and the gays could not find a different place to hold their parade? Or hold it on another day?
Seems like the gays and LBGT wanted to do as much disruption as much as possible.

Honor Flag
I didn't know about this, but it would have been nice at the funerals of the Las Vegas Metro police officers who died almost 3 weeks ago.
From Vermilion LA Today: It is not every day your assignment for the next two days is to make sure no human hands touch the United States Honor Flag that has been nearly 6 million miles around the Earth.
Sgt. Nick Guidry of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Department drew that assignment yesterday and today.
The Honor Flag is here in honor of Sheriff deputy Allen Bares Jr., who was shot multiple times and died at the hospital.
It is the first time it visits Vermilion Parish.
The Honor Flag will be displayed on a stand near Bares’ casket at Vincent’s Funeral home and in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. It will be folded in a triangle shape the entire time.
Guidry will be sitting right next to the flag, keeping an eye on it at all times. When the casket leaves the church, Sgt. Guidry will walk near the casket, holding the flag.
There are certain protocol that has to be followed when handling the Honor Flag.
“I am nervous about the whole thing,” said Sgt. Guidry. “It is not hard. I just have to remember everything.”
He said he was honored Sheriff Mike Couvillon selected him.
Once the funeral is over, Sgt. Guidry will hand his white gloves to the Bares’ family.
The flag flew in on an American Airlines from Miami. It is stored in its own case. Guidry boarded the plane and went into the cockpit of the airplane to put on a pair of white gloves. The pilot of the airline, also wearing white gloves, picked up the Honor Flag in the cockpit and carried it out of the airplane.
Sgt. Guidry was on the ground waiting to be handed the Honor Flag. Once handed the Honor Flag, he put it against his heart, holding it with both hands.
The pilot handed his white gloves to Deputy David Trahan for safe keeping.
Sgt. Guidry held the Honor Flag and walked back to his vehicle looking downward. Trahan drove back to the parish jail with Sgt. Guidry in the passenger seat holding the flag next to his heart.
When the flag touched down, there were more than 50 officers and 30 police units ready to escort it back to the Vermilion Parish Law Enforcement Center near Abbeville.
Nearly 30 police cars from Iberia, St. Martin, Lafayette, Acadia, Vermilion and Cameron parishes escorted the Honor Flag to the Vermilion Parish Law Enforcement Center. http://www.vermiliontoday.com/local/us-honor-flag-arrives-abbeville-bares-funeral

Question: Why Is Hillary Even Speaking At UNLV?
There has been a big fuss in the media over Hillary Clinton and her speaking at UNLV and to a group of rich people. Students are not footing the bill but some are outraged that she is charging $225,000 for a speech and a meet and greet.
First, I have no problem with how much she is making. If people are willing to spend that kind of money to hear spout off, hey more power to her.
To the students complaining- get over it. You students think you are the most important people at the University. HAHAHA, silly people. You fall in behind the administration, professors, donors and athletics. You matter so little to these people, it really is pathetic. And here is a little clue: those from out of the country matter more than those from Nevada as they pay a lot more in tuition than you do. Nevada students are pretty much near the bottom- above the bums on Maryland Blvd but below the custodians and secretaries who work at UNLV.
But the question is why Hillary speaking at UNLV? What can she offer to the donors, professors and administrators who will attend the party but probably won't buy her book?
Is she an expert in gambling? No.
Is she an expert in the hospitality business? Well, she has stayed at her share of 5 star hotels, but that hasn't made her any smarter. But no, she is not an expert.
Is she an expert in the Culinary Arts? I doubt she has made a meal for her self, except for frozen TV dinners since she left Arkansas.
Is she an expert on the Western United States? The only thing she probably has in common with the West is that her Husband Bubba probably gave President Obama ideas where to pick up chicks in Las Vegas.
So, why is she going to come to UNLV? Apparently to raise funds for UNLV. If her book sales are any indication, UNLV will raise less money than they pay her.
But as Hillary says "What difference does it make" why she is going to UNLV. She is going probably going to blow it playing Red, her favorite color, on the roulette table.
I might add, if Hillary really wanted to make really big money, do what Paris Hilton, the Kardashian clan and other floozies do: go to the casino clubs and look pretty (hard to do) and spin some records. She probably get $500,000 or more for a couple hours of work and she can meet the little people.

ObamaCare Slapdown... For Now
From Philly.com: A federal appeals court on Friday temporarily stayed a lower court order that could have left the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and several associated nonprofits on the hook for up to $160,000 in fines for each day they refused to cover contraception costs for their more than 4,000 employees.
The decision, handed down late in the day by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, came just in time for church officials, who faced a Monday deadline to start covering birth control or face steep penalties under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA). Instead, they have been given breathing room in the expectation that the U.S. Supreme Court will issue a ruling Monday on a similar fight involving religiously oriented for-profit businesses. The Third Circuit ordered the archdiocese to evaluate the Supreme Court ruling and then decide early next month whether it wishes to keep fighting its case. "I'm grateful for the order issued by this [appeals] court, which allows us to continue our pursuit of the First Amendment principle of religious freedom," Archbishop Charles J. Chaput said in a statement. "We will continue on behalf of all
believing Catholics to stand up for religious liberty."
Maybe these judges have seen writing on the wall from the Supreme Court???

If You Are Thinking Of Going To College For Teaching, May I Recommend
I checked out a bunch of schools in and around Nevada and the college I found was Grand Canyon College.
Their tuition is very good: $450 for a 3 credit graduate class.
There are no text books, so you don't get hit with huge text book prices and then sell them for pennies on the dollar.
I am taking on line classes and we have students from all over the country, so you get different perspectives.
The assignments don't seem to be too hard or unreasonable.
So, if you are interested in going back to school, check them out:

I Agree With Him
It must be a cold day in hell as I actually agree with Steve Sebelius of the LVRJ: Nobody should be surprised by the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in National Labor Relations Board v. Noel Canning, least of all readers of this column.....
But if it was a rebuke to Obama, it must also be a rebuke to Reid. While Bush was in the White House, Reid considered the recess appointment process “an end run around the Senate and the Constitution,” and an “abuse of power.” He invented a method to prevent Bush from appointing judges to whom Senate Democrats objected: Every few days during a normal vacation period, a senator would gavel a nearly empty chamber to order, conduct little or no business, and then adjourn. As a result, it could not be said that the Senate was in recess, and Bush could not make a recess appointment.
But in 2011, with a new president in the White House, and Republicans using filibuster powers to thwart even nominees they acknowledged were well-qualified, Reid’s view changed, and he raised no objections to Obama’s recess appointment during a Senate break, even though the pro forma sessions were taking place at the insistence of the GOP. http://www.reviewjournal.com/columns-blogs/steve-sebelius/recess-appointment-ruling-rebuke-obama-also-reid
Of course, the liberal Sebelius shows his true colors as he states that Obama's candidates were "well-qualified" while Bush's apparently were not.
But in the end, this was a slap down of Obama and Reid and the ruling was 9-0 with all the liberal voting against Obama/Reid.

And I Agree With Him
From Real Clear Politics and Charles Krauthammer: CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Look, he is not a natural politician. I don't think he even likes politics, which is odd for a man who is president. He clearly has completely failed at doing what the president has to do, which is work with the other side. But the worst part of it is he doesn't care about the constitution. There will be presidents after him. And if he he gets away with all this overreach -- creating laws, rewriting laws, ignoring laws -- it will be a occasional defeat for the country and for the rule of law, and I think that's the worst part of this. If this were a Republican, he would be impeached now over all of these abuses. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/
Without a doubt, if the President were a Republican in a Democrat controlled house and Senate, impeachment proceedings would be in full swing.
In fact, if the President were a Republican, they would have resigned by now because the media would have been harsher on him and the public would have turned on him.
But because Obama is a Democrat and Black, the GOP won't do anything about all the abuses of power Obama has committed over the years.
The GOP has rolled over and played dead like a possum.
It's as if the GOP is afraid of losing the Black and liberal vote.

Sad: NASCAR Sprint Doesn't Fill Field
For the first time in who knows how long, only 42 drivers are entered in this week's race at Kentucky. A normal field is 43 cars.
From Jayski: Entry List for the Quaker State 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway is posted, ONLY 42 teams/drivers [for 43 spots] are listed, including: #32-Kvapil, #33-Stremme, #66-Nemechek.
Since only 42 cars are entered, all drivers will make the race.
Last time less then 43 cars entered The last time a Sprint Cup Series race was held with fewer than 43 cars was the 2001 season finale at New Hampshire but that race was rescheduled from Sept. 16 to Nov. 23 because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The #27 car of Rick Mast was withdrawn as the team had shut down and was not replaced by NASCAR. Before that, the last race without 43 cars was in October 1997 at Talladega when 42 cars started but 47 cars were entered. In 1997, 42 was the mandated number with the 43rd spot reserved for a former Cup champion that had not qualified. The last time a Sprint Cup Series race had less cars entered then the maximum was in September 1996 at Dover, when 41 cars ran. http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm#20140627a
Many races this year barely had 43 cars and now they only have 4 cars.
I wonder if they will allow my 2001 Ford into the race?

The FBI Can Find These E-Mails But Not The IRS's?
From the NY Daily News: The FBI has seized 80,000 potentially damning emails from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., giving the media titan worries on both sides of the Atlantic in the ongoing phone hacking scandal.
While Murdoch was in London on Thursday facing the fallout from the conviction of one of his former star editors, it was disclosed in the U.S. that the FBI took and shared the mountain of emails with British prosecutors.
The emails, all copied from servers at News Corp.’s Midtown headquarters, include messages Rebekah Brooks, Murdoch’s former protégé, sent up the chain of command during the height of the phone-hacking scandal, The Daily Beast reported.
The emails have been shared with British prosecutors, but they were not used as evidence in the trial of Brooks and former News of the World editor Andy Coulson.
It was not immediately clear what the emails say or what the FBI further intends to do with them. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/rebekah-brooks-feels-vindicated-acquittal-article-1.1845169
Strange they would find the e-mails from the owner of Fox News but they cannot find the e-mails from the IRS.

Wow... Hillary and I Agree On Something
From the NY Post: Hillary Rodham Clinton called President Obama “incompetent and feckless” and charged that he had “no hand on the tiller half the time,” during a boozy reunion with college pals, a new book claims.
The scathing attacks came as the wine was flowing at a May 2013 dinner at Le Jardin Du Roi, a cozy French bistro near the Clinton family home in Westchester, according to “Blood Feud,” by best-selling author Edward Klein.
The former first lady, months removed from being Obama’s secretary of state, unleashed the verbal assault between sips of vino, sources told the author.
“When her friends asked Hillary to tell them what she thought — really thought — about the president she had served for four draining years, she lit into Obama with a passion that surprised them all,” Klein wrote.
Clinton ranted, “The thing with Obama is that he can’t be bothered, and there is no hand on the tiller half the time. That’s the story of the Obama presidency. No hand on the f–king tiller,” according to the book, which was excerpted exclusively in Sunday’s Post.
“Obama has turned into a joke,” she went on, according to Klein.
“The IRS targeting the Tea Party, the Justice Department’s seizure of AP phone records and [Fox reporter] James Rosen’s e-mails — all these scandals. Obama’s allowed his hatred for his enemies to screw him the way Nixon did,” she raged, the book says, adding that she called the president “incompetent and feckless.” http://nypost.com/2014/06/27/hillary-called-obama-a-joke-at-lunch-with-pals-book/
Well, I didn't know Hillary was a conservative.
It will be interesting if Obama supports her in 2016, especially if Joe Biden runs.

Senile Harry Reid Hates Koch Brothers, Loves Hillary
From the LVRJ: Sen. Harry Reid on Thursday declined to second-guess officials at the UNLV Foundation who have agreed to pay $225,000 for Hillary Clinton to speak at a fundraiser this fall, a month after she is speaking for free at an energy conference Reid and the university are holding in Las Vegas.
The Nevada Democrat in an interview held a 15-second pause before answering whether he thought the fee was a good use of money by the foundation, a nonprofit that raises and manages funds to benefit the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The fee has sparked debate over its size and its payment to a political figure and presumptive presidential candidate who is supportive of public education goals.
“There are people who work on that foundation who have done it for a long, long time, and they do it, as I understand it, without compensation,” Reid said. “They do it because it is the right thing to do. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada/reid-declines-second-guess-unlv-paying-hillary-clinton-speech
So, according to Reid: Koch Brothers who earn their wealth legally are bad.
Hillary Clinton who steals $225,000 from the students of UNLV, well, that's ok.
Just another reason why Senile/Liar/Coward Reid is still senile and in need of institutionalization.
