The Wisconsin Badgers lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes today, 20-10. The Badgers had a 10-0 lead in the first half and then decided to run out the clock, apparently. They couldn't throw or run and the defense, while looked good at times, also gave up to many easy plays.
Bret Bielma started his career at Wisconsin by going 12-1, using mostly Barry Alverez's recruits. He then went 9-4 and last year, 7-6 and only 3- 5 in the Big Ten. There were great expectations at the beginning of last season and this season.
This year, the Badgers have been less than impressive. They barely beat Fresno St in overtime, barely beat Northern Illinois and had a horrible game against Wofford, which is a team that is barely better than a good Pop Warner team. In the 2 Big Ten games, they only looked average.
I don't expect the Badgers to be as good as in 2006 but I also expect the Badgers to be better than last year and I don't see that. It's possible that they will win only 1 or 2 more games this season.
In my humble opinion, if the Badgers don't improve over last year, Bielma has to go. The Badgers have show they are going to get better instead of being a mediocre college football team. The Badger fans were spoiled by Alverez and are used to winners and a good to great football team. We don't want mediocre teams.
