Pawn Stars comes to life again tonight with another 2 episodes. It is not a night for my two kids to watch as it would cost me a lot of money.
The first guy to come into the shop was a trophy Jeff Gordon who had won in 1997. The guy bought it at an charity auction. I am glad my son, Manny was not watching because we would have buy it. The guy wanted $1000 with a counteroffer of $400 and he got $500 for the trophy. Now we might have to see it and maybe buy it if is still be offered.
Next up was portraits of Napoleon and Josephine. The Old Man wanted to get the expert opinion, which is a rarity. He sold it for $425.
The big thing is that you can haggle with the guys at the shop. So, if you see something you like at the shop, haggle with the employees at the store and get a lower price. And please remember, you probably won't see the stars of the show.
The next gentleman brought in a key gun, a key which is also a gun. The guy bought it for $40 and sold it to the shop for $200. The gun/key may have been from the 1600's, which is pretty cool. Then Rick sold it to the gun collector for $450. The gun did fire, after a short wait.
A lady then brought in a supposed ivory tusk but it turned out to be fake and she was quite disappointed. She needed the money by 4:00, so she probably had to pay a major bill or rent to pay. It's sad these things happen. Rick says they don't buy Ivory, but they do have Ivory tusks in the shop, the last time I was there.
Next up was a life size fiberglass Power Ranger. This was my daughter's favorite Power Ranger. No sale, but then my daughter wasn't there. If the shop bought it, we probably would have bought the 2 things for the kids, Wii games for Cathy and me- nothing. Isn't that how life works?
Second Episode: The first guy brought in a saddle that was supposedly from Dance's With Wolves and Kevin Costner using it. Well, it was not in the movie and the saddle as old but missing parts. It sold for $300. The guy got ripped off at an auction house.
The next item was a 1886 Winchester Rifle and they bought it for $1500 with no haggling.
The next thing up was tattoo equipment which was sold for $350. In Vegas, tattoo is very big business. You can see all kind of tattoos. The weirdest tattoo is a guy with a green lizards paw on a guy's head, with the tattoo artist's name on the guy's head. Another guy comes into Wal-Mart with a bunch of tattoos and has a haircut like the Statue of Liberty's crown. Corey traded the tattoo equipment for a tattoo and after Chumlee threw Corey under the bus so he had to pay the shop $500. But it turns out the Old Man has a tattoo with his wife's name on it. And the Old Man had the wife's name spelled wrong. Ooops.
The next guy came in with a sheet metal cutter from the Star Dust hotel and was built in the early 1900's. But because of a crack, the shop didn't buy it.
In the end, Rick fires the rifle and hits a bullseye and an indoor shooting range. Another week and more interesting things come in. I guess, the main story line is to make sure what you are buying. Don't believe people if they say something is real and it may not. Also, you can haggle with the employees of the shop. if they can haggle, you certainly can as well.
