From the Las Vegas Sun: A Las Vegas police spokesman says an officer was wounded in a shooting while on duty and has been taken to a hospital.
Officer Marcus Martin says the officer was taken to University Medical Center Tuesday evening for treatment.
Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie says the officer was immediately taken in to surgery and was in serious condition.
Police say the officer fired his weapon during the incident, which took place near the corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
Gillespie says he has spoken with the officer's family. He says everyone is hoping for the best.

Sounds very serious and our prayers go out to the officer and their family. the area of Washington and Rainbow is mostly a business area with ome bad areas close by.
