From the Elko Daily Free Pass: "A Twin Falls woman convicted of forcing a 13-year-old boy to touch her breasts was sentenced Monday to life in prison.Michelle Taylor was convicted of lewdness with a minor under 14 in November after a week-long trial in District Judge Mike Memeo’s courtroom. With the conviction, Taylor faced a mandatory life sentence, and Memeo set parole eligibility after 10 years, the minimum sentence. If released on parole she must register as a sex offender and will be under lifetime supervision."..."Taylor, who lived in Jackpot at the time of the crime, kissed a friend’s child, forced him to touch her breast and asked him to have sex with her in February 2008.Taylor claimed she was intoxicated and does not remember what happened that night. She told jurors she roughhoused with the boy, but did not force him to touch her inappropriately." http://www.elkodaily.com/articles/2010/04/13/news/local_news/doc4bc49cfc5ee07411983696.txt
Seems like the sentence is a little extreme and the punishment did not fit the crime. She can get out in 10 years, maybe.
But the law is the law and the judge's hands were tied. And to be honest, the DA might have overcharged. Even the judge thought so: After he sentenced her, Memeo said he was bound by state statute to impose the life sentence, but said he is not sure why the prosecution chose to charge her under that statute."
10-life years for allowing a boy to touch her breast . Shoot, people get less for drunken driving and killing someone.
Hopefully, this lady will be able to serve less time than the 10 years, but if not, she only can blame herself for getting into this position in the first place.
