We went to the main Post Office today, on Sunset, across from the airport. The staff at the Post Office was helpful and courteous. But when I entered the main entrance, there was a Fed Ex collection box in front of the door. Huh?
If I am not mistaken, the USPS and Fed Ex are competitors. Why would the Post Office have a competitor's drop box in front of the entrance?
This is like McDonalds allowing Burger King to sell Whoppers in front of McDonald's doors.
Remember this when the USPS says they are broke.
FedEx and the USPS have had a strategic alliance for years now. FedEx pays something for the privilege of having that drop box there. Also, some businesses (especially book stores) use two-part shipping -- FedEx transports the goods to the destination city's post office, then the USPS delivers to the buyer.
