This week, two teachers from El Dorado High School died, one from cancer and another killed in a botched robbery attempt.
Other than the principal from El Dorado and maybe some teachers from El Dorado, we have not heard anything from the CCSD administration. District staff were not notified about the deaths by CCSD. The Superintendent's office did not send out a message of condolence to the district via e-mail. We don't know anything about the funeral arrangements, unless we read the LVRJ. It's possible some past colleagues don't even know about the deaths and certainly not the funeral arrangements. This is nothing new, as other active teachers have passed and the only way we here about it is from the local newspaper or rumor. Even though we have a lot of teachers and staff in the district, we are still a small community and we care about each other and we want to support the family and the school that is going through sorrowful times.
So, to the CCSD administration and especially those in the Superintendent's office and school board, when an active teachers passes away, show some consideration and support the teacher's family and school by sending out an e-mail letting us know about what happened and any funeral arrangements. At least show something that shows you care. I am pretty sure you do care but your actions don't show it. It will help all involved.
