With Mayor Oscar Goodman retiring because of term limits, the race is on to become the next mayor of Las Vegas (for those who don't know, the City of Las Vegas is a lot smaller than Clark County. The City is basically north of Saraha- it has Fremont Street but not the Strip)
So far, several people have filed for the mayor's race. From the Las Vegas Sun:
Abdul Shabazz: Shabazz, 56, is a principal in Mobile Denture Lab. His website says he is a "professional dice hustler, turned denture maker."
Katherine Duncan: has been active in historic preservation in the West Las Vegas neighborhood and serves on the city's Historic Preservation Commission.
Marlene Rogoff: Rogoff ran for the Ward 6 city council seat in 2005. She was also a member of The Tule Springs Preservation Committee and served as its secretary.
On her website, she lists vodka as her favorite drink
Chris Giunchigliani: The LVRJ says she has has filed to run for mayor. She is a Clark County Commissioner and pretty much a whore for the the public unions. There hasn't been an public employee union she has not whored for by giving the workers whatever they wanted.
So far, and it has only been two days, the race for Mayor of Las Vegas is looking pretty bad right now. Hopefully, better candidates will come forward.
Why in the hell doesn't Wayne Allyn Root run? He's got the money and name recognition. It would be interesting to have a Libertarian Party mayor. It would be tough in a blue city like this, but worth it.
ReplyDeleteI think he lives in Henderson.
ReplyDeleteSo far there are 18 running for office. Honestly, there race is between four of them.
ReplyDeleteThree are in bed with the Unions and we have seen what that has done for us so the field is getting smaller by the day. Hopefully someone will start discussing issues and give us details of a factual plan to help our wonderful city.
