Pawn Stars Review: April 11, 2011
Another week of new Pawn Stars. It's nice to get outside today as it was a darn cold weekend. We even had snow on Saturday and the mountains surrounding Las Vegas still have many feet of snow on top of them. I got to the computer a little late as we had a death in the family- my daughter's guinea pig died this evening and she needed some comfort. The first person brought in a 1 person Quest submarine. It wasn't very good shape. The lady wanted $25,000. Rick offered $2000 and then $3000 and that was the selling price. The Old Man and Corey were quite pissed at the purchase. They took it to a guy named Kells. He basically said it was junk. The sub could go down about 330 feet. It would cost about $100,000 to fix. The sub as it is was worth about $10,000, so there may be a profit. The next guy brought in an officer's commission from the Revolutionary War, 1778. Time for Dana, the expert in signatures and documents from the past. Dana said it was real and rare. The value was said to be around $1000. The guy wanted $500 and Corey offered $250 and $350 and that was the selling price. They guy bought the item for $10, so nice profit. The guys went to a guy's house to look at a Model T Mini car. It's like a kid's toy, size wise. Kind of like the Shriner's kit cars. The guy wanted $1000 and Rick offered $500 and $600 and there was no sale. The next guy brought in an antique spittoon from the Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield, NV. The hotel is supposedly haunted, along with other parts of the town. The guy wanted $100 but settled for $50. For more information about Goldfield: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2009/10/goldfield-national-recognition-or-junk.html The next guy brought in a R-2 D-2 cooler, from Star Wars, that was used in a store. The guy wanted $600 and the Old Man offered $300 and then $500. There was no sale. The Old Man really wanted it for his house. In the second episode, the first lady brought in a infrared heat seeker for the side winder missiles from 1964. It was legal to own one. Time for an expert, Matt. He was kind of surprised that it was illegal to own one. The lady wanted $3000 and Rick offered$500 and then $550 and that was the selling price. Apparently, she has several more of these. The next guy brought in an old Playboy Bunny outfit. (It was Hugh Heffner's 85th birthday last week) The guy wanted $3000 and Rick offered $1000 and then $1200 and that was the selling price. The next guy brought in a 1986 Buick Regal which was kind of tricked out to be a low rider. The guy wanted $2500 and Corey $1000 and then $1200 and then $1500 and there was no sale. Chumlee then stepped in and bought it for $2000 and that was the deal. And Chumlee bought it for himself and fixed up at Danny's shop and had it fixed up for $3000 and tricked (juiced) it up so it bounce up and down (low rider). Then the Old Man took a ride in and got a pretty nice bounce out the ride. The next guy brought in an antique tool chest from the 1850's. It was pretty impressive, with ivory pieces and other fancy pieces. The guy wanted $10,000 and Rick offered $3500 and there was no sale. The next lady brought in an original Rubik's Cube in the box. The lady wanted $200 and Corey offered $5. No sale. That's it for another week and thanks for stopping by. Hope everyone is having a great Spring.
The Goldfield spitoon is a very common reproduction. I was surprised Rick didn't know about it. Oh well, he didn't pay that much for it.
