More Stupid Educator News
And teachers wonder why we don't get much respect. From Fox News: A California teachers union is under fire after passing a new resolution supporting a convicted cop killer. The California Federation of Teachers (CFT) last month passed a resolution reaffirming their support for Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was sentenced to death in the 1982 murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner during a routine traffic stop. In the resolution, the CFT alleges Abu-Jamal’s trial was unfair and calls the former radio journalist a civil rights hero. But a critic says evidence in the case shows Abu-Jamal was clearly guilty and that the teachers union should be focusing on California’s education issues, not the 30-year-old conviction of a cop killer in Philadelphia... But Daniel Flynn, Author of "Cop killer: How Mumia Abu-Jamal conned millions into believing he was framed," said the facts of Abu-Jamal’s case were "overwhelming." "You had numerous eye witnesses seeing him actually kill the cop. He was found at the scene with his gun, registered in his own name, with five expended shells. The cop actually shot him, so he had a bullet from the cop, and, in addition to all this, you have numerous eye witnesses reporting that he confessed to killing the cop, including one of his sympathizers," Flynn told Fox News. "…Except on the fringes there isn’t much of a debate on this guy’s guilt." Flynn said he not only doesn’t understand why the CFT is choosing to support someone who was so clearly guilty of murdering a police officer, but also doesn’t understand why the California Teachers Federation found this to be a relevant cause. "I don’t know what the California [Federation of Teachers] knows that a dozen jurors and more than a dozen appellate judges don’t know. They’ve looked at the facts of the case, they realize this guy’s guilty, but apparently the California Federation of Teachers knows something that we all don’t know." http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/13/california-teachers-union-draws-rallying-cop-killer/?test=latestnews?test=latestnews Abu-Jamal is a cold blooded killer, nothing more and nothing less. Why a bunch of crazy liberal celebrities and now teachers want be on his side is beyond me, except these fools hate cops. Abu-Jamal apparently can write good enough to fool a bunch of liberals, which is pretty pathetic. This clown should have been executed by now so we wouldn't have to hear about him anymore. But of course, he is honored by the left in which either they are totally clueless or just plain stupid. But either way, these "teachers" from the teachers union just hurt the teaching cause even more by their proclamation. Apparently they have nothing better to do like improving education, helping kids or helping reduce the red ink in California's budget, so they have to butt their way into this cold blooded killer's case. For more on the police officer that was killed and how it happened, from the Officer Down Memorial Page: Officer Daniel J. Faulkner was shot and killed while making a traffic stop. Officer Faulkner stopped the driver of a light blue Volkswagen at the corner of Thirteenth and Locust Streets for driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Officer Faulkner had the driver exit the vehicle. As the officer was speaking with the driver, the driver struck him in the face. Officer Faulkner struck the driver back and attempted to take him into custody. As the officer was attempting to subdue the driver, the driver's brother came running to the scene from a parking lot across the street. While Officer Faulkner's back was turned, the brother opened fire, shooting him in the back four times. Officer Faulkner fell to the ground but was able to return fire, hitting the suspect. The wounded suspect was able to fire again as he stood over the fallen officer, shooting him in the face. The suspect attempted to flee but fell to the ground several feet from where he had just shot Officer Faulkner. When back-up officers arrived, they found Officer Faulkner mortally wounded and the suspect, murder weapon in hand, laying several feet away. The suspect, who was a member of the racist group Black Panthers, was charged with murder. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in two separate trials. In December 2001, a federal judge overturned the death sentence and ordered a new sentencing hearing. Officer Faulkner had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 5 years. He is survived by his wife. The Black Panthers is a racist, radical group that professed the murders of law enforcement officers. Members and former members of the group were responsible for the murders of at least 15 law enforcement officers and the wounding of dozens more across the nation. http://www.odmp.org/officer/4764-police-officer-daniel-j.-faulkner To the stupid teachers in California and to the stupid teacher union, you are a disgrace to the teaching profession.
You know, I first heard about Mumia Abu-Jamal in the early 90s. The evidence is far from clear.

There is significant physical evidence, though it has been mishandled. There are conflicting witness accounts, and several witnesses have recounted their original testimony. The jury selection was seemingly racially biased, though this was not properly contested at the time through a failure in Abu-Jamal's defense. The steonographer reported the judge to have said, "Yeah, and I'm going to help them fry the nigger."
Maybe he's guilty, maybe not. But I don't think it's outrageous to call the trial unfair.
Well, a series of judges, appeals courts and Supreme Courts disagree.
