Nye County Becomes Closer To Having Secret Police
The Nye County (NV) Sheriff's department just went a step closer on having a secret police department as they have gone to digital radio communication. And of course, the police don't care: From the Pahrump Valley Times: "The changeover will also affect those who own scanners. The new system will not allow anyone except the sheriff’s department to monitor the radio traffic, and Hannigan said that’s just fine by him. “I know there are a lot of scanner fans out there and I appreciate that they enjoy listening to what we’re doing but I’m also in charge of the narcotics division and I know every drug house that we have taken down had scanners in them." http://pvtimes.com/news/sheriffs-office-ironing-out-wrinkles-in-5-million-radio-system/ Now, the citizens of Nye County and Pahrump will no longer be able to monitor the cops to see if they are behaving and in Nye County, you really need to keep an eye on them. And for the police officer to say he couldn't care less if the private citizens couldn't listen to police calls is just pathetic and he should take course in American History and Civics.. The citizens have a right to now what is going on in their neighborhood, city and county. They need to know if there is a danger to the neighborhood and they need to know if the cops are behaving. So, Nye County is now closer to a secret police state and that is very scary.
