A Sad Day In GOP Politics
From The Hill: The House on Thursday passed a bill reflecting last week's agreement to fund the federal government for the rest of fiscal year 2011, in a 260-167 vote in which most Republicans supported it, and most Democrats opposed it even though it was brokered by President Obama and has the support of Democratic leaders in Congress. Fifty-nine Republicans voted against the measure, a sign that many conservatives are still disappointed that their leadership was not able to negotiate steeper spending cuts. That's also more than the 54 Republicans who voted against a three-week spending resolution in March over complaints that more dramatic spending reductions were not made. Eighty-one Democrats voted for the deal, and 108 opposed it. http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/house/156113-house-approves-fy-2011-spending-bill-x-y-vote This bill that was passed is a horrible bill that only had about $300 million in real cuts in the federal government. The GOP came in and said they were going to change things but it looks like the same old, same old. Nevada Congressman Heller voted against the bill. Shelly Berkley voted for the bill. Congressman Joe Heck also voted for the bill in which I find surprising and very disappointing as well. Congressman Heck went to Washington to reduce spending and hold the line on borrowing. So far, he really has been a disappointment in these areas. So, once again, the GOP party raised the hopes that things would change in Washington D.C., but sadly it has not. It's still the good old boy and girl network.
