Even though the Las Vegas Sun wrote a rah rah speech, errr article for the opening of the President Obama's re-election office in Henderson, it really shows what little support the man has in the Las vegas area. From the article: The conventional wisdom is that the biggest hurdle to President Barack Obama's reelection is a dispirited and disappointed base.
But judging by the 100 people who showed up Thursday night for the opening of a Henderson campaign office for Obama, the president still has a lot of ardent supporters willing to campaign on his behalf. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/11/obama-supporters-rally-open-henderson-headquarters/
But buried int he article and something an editor forget to edit out: While some people in attendance said organizers received 300 RSVPs from people invited to the opening, Michael Campbell, press secretary of Organizing for America-Nevada, could not immediately confirm that number.
So, 300 people RSVP'ed out of probably 1000 invitations that went out (just a guess) and only 100 people showed up for the grand opening and only 1 elected Democrat decided to show up. Trust me, there is not a lot to do on a Thursday night in Henderson or the Las Vegas Valley, especially a day before a holiday.
So, if Obama hopes to win Nevada next November, he needs to do three things: Keep Harry Reid out of Nevada, stay out of Nevada, and hope the economy turns around. Otherwise, he is toast.
