According to the Las Vegas Occupy gang, they are planning on marching in the Veteran's Day parade on November 11, 2011 in downtown Las Vegas.
They claim they will be respectful and it will not be a protest march. From the Occupy Las Vegas Web site:
This is NOT a protest march!
The purpose of OLV's participation is to show our respect and appreciation for the sacrifice veterans have made to protect our pursuit of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (Ex. The First Amendment right to assembly and seek redress from the government.)
1. OLV will be identified by a wide banner carried at the lead of the group.
2. OLV signs will be limited to:a. OLV supports those who serve (or similar demonstrations of support).b. Multiple signs reading:We Want: A 28th Amendment that removes the influence of corporations and big money from politics. It's that simple!
3. OLV members will be asked to wear or carry orange of some color, if not an "official" OLV Shirt with the OLV Declaration on it. (Barring that, patriotic red, white, and blue is always acceptable at any occasion honoring veterans.)
4. A press release will be sent out requesting members of the general public to wear (or carry) orange to show their support, too.

Sounds like a protest march to me. Hopefully, based on Occupiers of different cities, this parade will not turn violent, like in Oakland, New York City, Boston etc.
But please spare us that this is not a protest march- it is and you are using Veterans and Veterans Day to protest. This is disgraceful to the veterans, veterans who have fought and died for your right to protest and then you decide to protest on their day. Just disgraceful.
Occupy Las Vegas has no shame.
DITTO!!!
ReplyDeleteTry doing this in another country where you don't have the right that these Veteran's fought to give you. This is disgraceful to the veterans, veterans who have fought and died for your right to protest and then you decide to protest on their day. Just disgraceful. Go Occupy your house, any place other than our Veterans. Or go occupy another country and see what happens. Go immediately, if not sooner.
Thanks, anon, well put.
ReplyDeleteMaybe i should go spit on them the way their kind spit on me when i returned from Viet Nam.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your service Anonymous Nov. 7th. May God Bless you and all of those that because of their sacrifice gave us freedom.
