Channel 13 is reporting that the Super Pawn has fired the employee who shot and killed a thug that was robbing the Super Pawn store on the northwest side of the Valley.
The employee, who they did not name, shot and killed a thug that came into the pawn store to rob the store. Further, the thug had a gun and was threatening customers and other employees with the thugs gun.
From Channel 13 News: The pawn store manager who fired a deadly shot at an armed intruder, is now the target of death threats.
The fatal shooting took place at the Cash America SuperPawn on North Durango near the 215, in Centennial Hills. It happened on the morning of December 28th.
The store manager says he had no choice but to pull the trigger in self-defense. He shared exclusive surveillance video and details of what happened, only with Action News. The one condition, is that his identity is not revealed.
The surveillance video captures what happened, just seconds after the armed intruder barges into the store. The employee behind the counter runs for the back frantically. The suspect follows close behind.
"My employee started yelling, 'We're being robbed, we're being robbed,'" describes the store manager, who was in the back office at the time.
The store manager says he pulled out his gun when he heard the chaos. Shortly after, he came face to face with the intruder.
"I saw that he had a gun in his hand. He raised it, and pointed it at me. That's when I fired a couple of shots."
The intruder was Jhalon Glass, 18, who shot back before collapsing. The store manager wasn't hit by the gunfire. But, Glass didn't leave SuperPawn alive....
But SuperPawn let him go, saying he violated store policy. Employees there are not allowed to carry weapons.
"I understand I did break policy, but the only reason I broke policy was to protect my own life," he says. "With the number of pawn shops being targeted, I knew it was just a matter of time until my location was next."
We did receive a statement from the Senior Vice President for Operations for Cash America SuperPawn, Brent Stuart. It reads: "Over the years, SuperPawn has taken preventative action to safeguard the welfare of our coworkers and customers. We have comprehensive company policies and procedures in place to protect them. However, disclosing details about our security policies and procedures could compromise our operations and inadvertently place others in harms way, including our customers. Instead of firing the guy, Super Pawn ought to be thanking him. Now, the thug that died will not be out on the streets robbing other Super Pawn stores and it will give other thugs something to think about when they want to rob a pawn store or any other store. Further, now thugs now that Super Pawn employees are not armed, so Super Pawn just became a target of robbers again.
Super Pawn just did a huge disservice to the Las Vegas community by firing this gentleman and standing by it's employee. Working at a pawn store is dangerous enough and Super Pawn just made it more dangerous.
I am not surprised with the employee losing his job. This is a company that harrassed all managers and employees to take a survey to say what a great company they are to work for

. Just so the company looks good donating the jdrf. Money they do. Someone shouldi investigate ... audit ... and contact the customets to see if they were aware of their domatdonation. Or the amt they could of gotten. The corporate office is aware lieing to customers to get jdrf donation is done in all stores.they also have policies that falsifing a loan will be immediate termination. Yet saving your life and others lives as well as protecting company assets got a manager fired. I guess they don't wwant lthis known. Oops...trust they don't don't want an investigation on jdrf. But spmeone should. Corporate would be all without jobs. Its called stealing! STEALING FROM. CUSTOMERS.
Super pawn use to be a very good business, but after corporate took over, people got demoted, let go, because some individuals were not cooperative with policies.

If an employee was at fault for anything on the job super pawn will say it was solely between the employee and the situation. Or do as they did here
