In Sheboygan Wisconsin, a beautiful city of Lake Michigan, also has some ugly liberal school administrators. Apparently, a 2nd grade student's Valentine's Day card that said "Jesus Loves You" is more hateful than anything in elementary school.
From the Sheboygan Press: The Sheboygan Area School District erred when it confiscated a second-grader’s Valentine’s Day messages because they included a religious passage, according to a lawyer who is representing the child’s mother.
David French, an attorney with the American Center for Law and Justice, said James Madison Elementary School student Dexter Thielhelm should have been able to distribute valentines that contained candy, a note reading “Jesus Loves You” and the Biblical passage from John 3:16.
French is representing Dexter’s mother, Melissa Wolf.
It’s pretty simple really,” French said. “A student does not shed his constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The general rule is student free speech is protected absent disruption. The fact that that the school thinks somebody else might say something else that might disrupt the school is no reason to deprive students of constitutional liberties.” http://www.sheboyganpress.com/article/20120216/SHE0101/120216120/Lawyer-School-erred-religious-valentine-flap?odyssey=mod|defcon|text|FRONTPAGE
And speaking like a real weenie that he is, the superintendent of Sheboygan Schools said this:
In a prepared written statement, Sheehan the school had to remove the message because other students and their parents hadn’t been given any notice that religious speech was being offered.
Apparently, Sheehan has been running around in Sheboygan with his head up his butt too long because the fumes from his gas are getting to him.
The kids are in 2nd grade and they really don't read the cards unless it is a Spongebob or Barney card. They are just happy to receive one and if the card comes with candy, well, to a second grader, that's the jackpot. I am quite sure not one 2nd grader was offended by little Dexter's card and if a parent was, then screw them.
But a treacher, principal and superintendent sure were offended, but I suspect that most people are offended by the actions of the administrators in the Sheboygan schools.
