Another Fun Day At The NASCAR Race

The last time I was at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it was the Indy race where Dan Wheldon was killed at the end of the second turn.
Today, we went back to LVMS and there was no mention of Wheldon, which was kind of surprising.
The National Anthem was sung by a singer I never heard of, but she has a great voice, but really seemed like she took way too long to sing the Anthem.  Heck, even the Air Force Thunderbirds
It was nice to see the Grand Marshal was not a blonde hair bimbo, like the last 2 races (Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton). This year, it was Tim Allen, from Home Improvement and some other shows.  He said something to the effect of "Gentlemen, fire those bad boys up!"
The first 70 laps were dominated by Dale Earnhardt Jr., but when a caution came out at about lap 70, Earnhardt took 4 tires while everyone else took 2 tires and that was it for Dale.
Matt Kenseth took over and was dominate and was close at the end until Carl Edwards supposedly wrecked him.  I don't think I'll be eating at Subway this month.
The loudest cheers and jeers came for Kurt and Kyle Busch when they got into accidents.  It was kind of sad to see the hometown drivers be booed so much.
A lot of people were cheering for winner Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson, but Johnson may have some other things to worry about.  It was announced after the race that NASCAR confiscated Johnson's car, so kind of explains why Johnson's hauler was one of the last hauler to leave the track.
After the race, they rad some quarter mile racing with some quite small cars and they were interesting to watch.
There were about 120,000 to to about 145,000 people at the track, which is very good considering the economy.  It took us 45 minutes to get to the track from Henderson and about 1 hr and 15 minutes to get home, even though we waited for about an 1 1/2 to leave.  It seemed like the cops had their heads up their collective butts after the race was finished but before the race, they did a good job.
So, another year done and I am looking forward to next years's races.
