Today, in the heat of the afternoon, with temperatures hovering around 90F and humidity running around 50%, Nevada Power decided it would be nice time to have a power outage in our neighborhood. Not sure what happened, except it wasn't caused by an accident.
Well the power was back on in about 90 minutes. If it had been another 15 minutes, we would have ended up at our swimming pool to cool off, so no harm, no foul.
Reminds me when I lived in Wisconsin Rapids. During the Summer and Fall, it seemed like every 3 weeks, a squirrel would play a tight rope walker and run across the electric lines. Every now and then, it would touch the actual electricity, which would blow out a transformer, which sounded like a clap of thunder. The poor squirrel would be fried, literally and would fall off the line. Sometimes, the flaming squirrel would start a grass fire, making us think that this particular squirrel wanted to go out in a blaze of glory.
Of course, our kids didn't know what do. No TV, no radio, no computer and no video games. They actually had to think for themselves. Awwww, too bad.
