What's More Imprtant To Henderson Officials: Pools Or Libraries?

From the LVRJ: Two green buildings in Henderson are about to get a little greener.
The city has received a $500,000 grant from the Department of Energy to add a solar photovoltaic system to the roofs of the Heritage Park Aquatic Complex and Senior Facility on South Racetrack Road. The grant requires matching funds, which the City Council approved Tuesday.
"These buildings are very green, very sustainable," said Mark Hobaica, city architect.

I've been swimming at the Heritage Park Aquatic Complex and trust me, they don't need any extra solar panels.  The solar panels are not going to improve the complex nor will it save money and certainly not $1,00,000. Perhaps they could put the panels on a couple of libraries so they stay open on Mondays where more people use the libraries than the swimming pools.
If the buildings are already green, why do they need more green?  Shouldn't the green things they have in their already be enough?  Further, it s not going to help when the the doors of the swimming pool going outside are open when the pool is in use.  Finally, what are the solar panels going to be used for?  Heat up the water, air conditioning, heating or for the pool filters to run.  They say it will pay for themselves in 12 years and I say BS. especially if they only save 35% on electricity costs and that is being generous.
You would think Henderson could use the money for more important things, like keeping the libraries in Henderson open on Mondays instead of closing them down.  What a bunch of morons on the city council.
So, thanks, City of Henderson for blowing $500,000 of Henderson taxpayer money just so the city council members can feel good about themselves.  Idiots.
