From the New York Daily News: Danica Patrick and her husband are divorcing after seven years of marriage.
Patrick announced the split with Paul Hospenthal on her Facebook page Tuesday.
"I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided amicably end our marriage," she said. "This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."
Hospenthal is a physical therapist who met Patrick while treating her for a non-racing injury. The two were married in 2005, and he is 17 years older than the 30-year-old driver.
Patrick just completed her first full season in NASCAR, running the full Nationwide schedule and 10 Sprint Cup Series races after leaving IndyCar. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/danica-patrick-divorcing-husband-7-years-article-1.1205253
Just about everyone who knows a thing or two about NASCAR can agree that Patrick had a horrible season, both in NASCAR's Nationwide and Sprint series.
She finished 10th in points, out of 13 drivers in Nationwide who ran every race and she wasn't a start and parker and she had good to great equipment and crew. Shoot, the team that Patrick drove for, JR Motorsports, put Regan Smith in for 1 race in the last race of the season and he won the race using the same equipment and set up as Patrick.
In Sprint, if she didn't crash, she sucked, except for 1 race in Texas, where she finished on the same lap as the winner, but finished in just 24th place.
So, after a bad season, she and her husband are getting a divorce and she announces it on Facebook?
I'm glad no kids are involved and that divorce is not a good thing. And I am sure both will not be hurting for money any time soon.
I can only get better for Patrick.... I think.
