From the NY Daily News:
House Speaker John Boehner shot down President Obama’s State of the Union proposal for a minimum wage increase on Wednesday – calling the plan a job killer.
"When you raise the price of employment, guess what happens? You get less of it,” Boehner told reporters Wednesday morning. “At a time when the American people are still asking the question, 'Where are the jobs?' why would we want to make it harder for small employers to hire people?"
Boehner, however, told reporters that a minimum wage increase would hurt minimum wage workers, rather than helping them.
“Listen, I’ve got 11 brothers and sisters on every rung of the economic ladder,” Boehner said. “I know about this issue as much as anybody in this town. And what happens when you take away the first couple of rungs on the economic ladder – you make it harder for people on the ladder.”

Nevada raised it's minimum raise a few years ago and the result we got? Higher unemployment and employers not hiring more workers.
If the minimum wage is raised, it will increase unemployment rates and decrease hours for the those remaining.
The minimum wage is not meant to support families- it is used to help the younger folks land a job and get work experience and then move on to higher paying jobs.
I don't trust Boehner to do the right thing and not increase the minimum wage. As a conservative, I would like to see the end of minimum wage and let the market decide what the right wage is. I realize that won't happen until pigs fly, but hey, it's worth a shot.
