From the LVRJ: Citing budget cuts under the sequester law, Nellis Air Force Base officials said Tuesday they are canceling the Aviation Nation air show, the largest free public event in Nevada, that had been scheduled for November.
“Aviation Nation is a very popular event for our community, and I deeply regret our inability to host a Nellis Open House this year,” 99th Air Base Wing Commander Col. Barry Cornish said in a statement released by the base.
“However, due to the effect of the Budget Control Act of 2011 and associated sequestration, the defense budget cuts for fiscal year 2013 are approximately $46 billion by law and must be accomplished by October 2013,” Cornish said.
“To meet this obligation, the U.S. Air Force has prioritized combat readiness over other activities and air shows have been canceled as a result,” he said.
The Air Force typically spends about $300,000 to hold the open house and host the Aviation Nation air show, which was scheduled for Nov. 9-10.
Drawing a crowd of 135,000 last year, the air show contributed an estimated $19 million to the local economy, Aviation Nation air show Director Dave Edwards has said.

But The Fed's and Air Force have to pay for Obama to go on vacation, go to the Middle East, give money to the Palestinians who hate us, pay for Joe Biden and all of his expenses and so much more waste in the U.S. government.
$300,000 I chump change in Las Vegas and they could have found sponsors to cover the $300,000 quite easily. Hell, for Sheldon Adelson and steve Wynn, that is walking around change.
And for $300,000 we are throwing away $19,000,000.
