From jsonline: Officials of a national memorial for fallen law enforcement officers will wait until 2014 to make a final decision on whether to add Wauwatosa Police Officer Jennifer Sebena to its walls.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund made the decision Thursday after an outpouring of support to recognize Sebena.
"The national police memorial's action to further delay a final decision on the Jennifer Sebena controversy will do nothing to quell the anger that our state's officers feel about the disrespect the memorial has shown her," said Jim Palmer, Wisconsin Professional Police Association executive director, in a Thursday news release. The association represents about 10,000 members.
Palmer said the association is "somewhat pleased" that the memorial did not confirm its rejection and plans to reach out to the White House for support.
Word spread Wednesday that the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund had tentatively chosen not to include Sebena on its memorial wall in Washington, D.C.
The fund made its initial decision not to include Sebena because she was killed in an act of domestic violence, said Palmer, who called the decision "appalling and a travesty." http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/officials-delay-decision-on-adding-wauwatosa-officers-name-to-tribute-wall-lh98hkk-199404811.html
Officer Sebena was shot and killed while on-duty, not at home.
Police officers have been given the honor, even though they did stupid things to die of, like 1 car auto accidents, like several Las Vegas Metro police officers.
It is outrageous that NLEOMF would even think of not honoring Officer Jennifer Sebena.
