One 19 year old thug held the City of Boston and some of it's suburb hostage yesterday.
The city was locked down, flights were cancelled, mass transit did not run, schools closed and people took the day off of work.
Just 1 kid did this.
What would happen if a more well organized group decided to create more havoc? Close down a state, a region or even the United States?
Just something to think about.
Since 9/11 I've thought about this a lot, from a Vegas perspective. And I imagined pretty much this scenario, a couple of guys with backpack bombs. Except I thought they'd blow themselves up, rather than having remote detonators. But this isn't something that would be easy to prevent, unless you're dealing with a group that makes plans in advance, and they're infiltrated or something. If these two brothers turn out to have a more personal grudge, or an obscure reason for what they did, I think it's actually a little scarier than if they're part of a group with a plot, with an ideology that can be followed and headed off at the pass.
ReplyDeleteBut how could you stop people from wandering into a casino or tourist attraction and blowing up a backpack? It could happen anywhere.
