Strange Chinese Photo
A policeman and firefighter trucks are seen near the site of an explosion in downtown Urumqi in China's western region of Xinjiang. (XINHUA / REUTERS / May 22, 2014)
This picture is fromt he Chicago Tribune.
From the Tribune: Explosives hurled from two vehicles which ploughed into an open market in China's troubled Xinjiang killed 31 people on Thursday, state media reported, the deadliest act of violence in the region in years.
China's Ministry of Public Security called the attack in the regional capital of Urumqi a "serious violent terrorist incident" and domestic security chief Meng Jianzhu vowed to strengthen a crackdown on the "arrogance of terrorists".
China has blamed a series of knife and bomb attacks in recent months on separatist militants from Xinjiang, the traditional home of the ethnic Muslim Uighurs. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-china-blast-20140521,0,3320404.story
In the picture, the police officer has the English word "Police" on his back and the cars in the photo look to be American or Japanese made. The fire engines look to be modern European fire trucks.
Kind of throws my image of China out the window.
