From the LVRJ: Actor-singer Jamie Foxx came under fire on Monday from LGBT-youth group The Trevor Project for “insensitive comments” he made at an awards show about reality star Bruce Jenner and reports of his decision to transition to a woman.
At Sunday’s iHeartRadio awards show, televised on NBC, host Foxx joked twice about the transition by Jenner, an Olympic gold medalist and patriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner family on reality TV.
“Bruce Jenner will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his and her duet all by himself,” Foxx quipped on stage.
“Look, I’m just busting your balls - while I still can,” he added in his opening monologue with a large photo of Jenner on a screen behind him.
The Trevor Project, which provides support and counseling for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, said “insensitive comments made in the media only exacerbate the problem,” in response to Foxx’s jokes.
“Given all the struggles that LBGTQ youth face on a daily basis, comments like these don’t help to promote an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding,” the organization said in a statement on Monday.
Representatives for Foxx and Jenner declined to comment. http://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/reel/jamie-foxx-s-bruce-jenner-joke-criticized-lgbt-group
First, when did the LBGT add a Q to their organization?
Second, does anybody in the LBGTQ and the rest of the alphabet have a sense of humor?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
So, Killer Jenner, will get the Lizzy Borden treatment- whack, whack, one for each ball.
Who really cares?
Dan, it used to be GLB, then the L's got to go first (chivalry, or fear of Lesbians, not sure), and it was LGB for a long time. Ts were added, though it wasn't always a comfortable fit (still isn't sometimes). And Q fell in to cover a whole group called "questioning," or sometimes "queer" (I personally care for that word).
ReplyDeleteOnce Q entered the mix, some people see fit to tack on a whole extra string of letters that gets goofier by the letter, and defeats the purpose of having a shortened name in the first place.
But, it's important to know that it isn't an organization, it's just a shorthand abbreviation for people who would be considered a "sexual minority." That just means, differing from heterosexual, cisgender (not crazy about that one either), plain-ol' vanilla-in-the-bedroom folks. But it excludes anyone whose sexual peccadillos wander outside of "consenting adults" territory. Anyway, rule of thumb, after the first four letters, the more letters you see? The higher the chances that the writer is more liberal than me, and the less the chances of you getting along with them, or agreeing with anything they say!
