From the Kingman Daily Miner: Mohave County Sheriff's deputies made yet another significant marijuana bust early Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 at milepost 52.
Taken into custody were Bee Lee, 61, of Denver, and Bee Moua, 37, of Fresno, Calif.
Deputies stopped Lee at about 2:05 a.m. and smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Lee told deputies there were nine pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle, but his math was off by about 44 pounds as deputies allegedly seized 44 bundles of pot weighing 53.5 pounds.....
Since the beginning of the month, deputies have arrested more than half a dozen people and seized nearly 200 pounds of marijuana, one plant, and equipment used to grow the weed in a number of traffic stops on the interstate.
According to sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter, Lee advised they were en route from California to Colorado, where the recreational use of marijuana is legal. http://kdminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=797&ArticleID=68063
There have been numerous busts in this small stretch of I-40, so my guess is that the local cops are getting some good intelligence reports from the Feds and different state police agencies.
What's strange for me personally, I drive by where the drug busts happen at least 2 times a day and never see the cops there, so they are picking their targets carefully.
So, good job to the cops who have made the busts and keeping the pot off the streets.
