From the NY Daily News: Another firefighter has lost his life to a 9/11-related cancer.
Retired Firefighter Michael Duffy, a 20-year veteran of the department who spent time at Ground Zero after the terror attacks, died on Aug. 8, officials said Thursday.
Duffy joined the FDNY in 1982 and spent his entire career at Engine 310 and Ladder 174 on Snyder Ave. in East Flatbush, known as “Snyder Island.”...
On 9/11, 343 firefighters and 23 NYPD cops were killed when terrorists flew two jumbo jets into the World Trade Center.
As of July 15, 157 FDNY members — including firefighters, EMS personnel, civilian employees and fire marshals — have died of 9/11-related illnesses, department officials said.
By the end of 2016, 132 additional NYPD cops had died of illnesses that can be linked to their time at Ground Zero, officials said. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/fdny-firefighter-michael-duffy-dies-9-11-linked-cancer-63-article-1.3401663
It's been almost 16 years since the muslim terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001 and the tragic attack is still killing people who worked at the WTC.
RIP to firefighter Duffy and prayers for his family, friends and the FDNY family.
