From the LVRJ: Three months after a homicide shook a quiet northwest Las Vegas Valley neighborhood, residents say HOA laws have hamstrung their ability to govern themselves and keep their community safe.
Ironwood Estates is an upscale community near Fort Apache Road and U.S. Highway 95. The homes, whose tax-appraised values average $500,000, are filled with neighborly people, for the most part, residents say. But the actions of a few irresponsible people, exacerbated by a killing last summer, have pushed some residents and the community’s HOA over the edge....
The seven-bedroom, 6,000-square foot house was part of the Housing Choice Vouture program, formerly Section 8, a federal government program that assists “very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing,” according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s website. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/crime-spree-raises-hackles-vegas-hoa
So, the government is renting out a house/mansion for a huge rent in a rich area of town?
Why am I working when I could live in a mansion rent free?

Another Reason Why People Hate Government
From jsonline: The former head of the Milwaukee FBI office twice scolded subordinates for talking to investigators, and in one case urged an agent to commit perjury, a Department of Justice report finds.
Staff from the Office of the Inspector General concluded that former Milwaukee Special Agent in Charge Teresa Carlson most likely lied to them when they questioned her. They also found she may have broken federal law by telling an agent to lie under oath.
The Justice Department declined to prosecute Carlson, and the FBI refuses to say if she has been disciplined. She remains in a high-ranking job, as acting deputy assistant director of the Facilities and Logistics Services Division — a position she assumed after being removed as head of the Milwaukee office last summer, an FBI spokesman said Thursday.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz's office found Carlson "conducted herself unprofessionally and exhibited extremely poor judgment" when she coached Special Agent Mark Crider on how to testify in the case of Justin Slaby, a wounded war veteran trying to become an FBI agent.
According to Crider, Carlson told him to "come down" on the FBI's side in the case. Carlson denied she told Crider how to testify, but the inspector general staff concluded that Carlson's version of events was not credible.
Carlson invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination last year after she was subpoenaed to explain the conversation. Likewise, she refused to speak to inspector general staff until she was forced to do so. http://www.jsonline.com/watchdog/watchdogreports/scathing-report-blisters-former-head-of-milwaukee-fbi-office-b99340308z1-273110551.html
Many people have gone to jail for lying to the Feds. Ask Martha Stewart.
And this coppette lied, had other people lie, refused to talk investigators and if you and I did that, we would be sitting in federal prison.
Instead, this corrupt cop is rewarded with a high paying position in the FBI.

From the Reno Gazette Journal:
Reno firefighters can show up to work with up to a .08 percent blood alcohol level or more than twice the legal driving limit of a variety of illegal drugs in their system without facing discipline under a 12-year-old policy negotiated by the city and the fire union.
According to the policy obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal, drug and alcohol use "shall not be permitted." But an alcohol test is not considered positive below .08 percent, which is also the limit for driving under the influence.
The allowable limit of marijuana is five times the legal limit for driving. The allowable limit of amphetamines and cocaine is twice the legal limit for driving.
The policy, which dates back to 2002, cannot be changed unless it goes through the collective bargaining process — during which the city and union must agree on any changes. Yet, despite the high threshold in the policy — which exceeds the policy limits for firefighters and law enforcement who work for Washoe County and Sparks — neither the fire chief, nor the president of Reno Firefighters Local 731 believe it is a high enough priority to change.
"The policy seems to work," union president Dennis Jacobsen said. "If you could show me eight or nine occurrences where you've proven the policy is inadequate, then absolutely we would sit down with the city. But I don't want to try and fix something that is so rarely used."
Fire Chief Michael Hernandez echoed that sentiment.
"What I'm sensing is you're trying to make an issue out of something that really isn't an issue," Hernandez said. "Granted it's a higher threshold, but does that mean firefighters are coming to work drunk? No." http://www.rgj.com/story/news/2014/06/22/reno-policy-allows-bac-firefighters/11178803/
That is just unbelievable and the attitude of the fire chief, whose safety of the residents of Reno and it's firefighters rests with him is just crazy, to say the least.
You would expect that from the union, perhaps, but the fire chief? He's got to go.

From the Chicago Tribune: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reassigned the director of the bioterror lab behind the potential anthrax exposure of dozens of scientists and staff, sources told Reuters, as the anthrax controversy intensified.Michael Farrell, head of the CDC's Bioterror Rapid Response and Advanced Technology Laboratory, has been reassigned as the agency investigates the incident, two CDC scientists who are not authorized to speak with press told Reuters.
The possible exposure has forced as many as 84 employees at the agency's Atlanta campus to get a vaccine or take powerful antibiotics with known side effects to ward off potentially deadly anthrax disease.
CDC spokesman Tom Skinner declined to comment on Farrell. Calls and e-mail to Farrell were not returned. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-cdc-anthrax-exposure-20140622,0,1078638.story
In the private sector, this idiot would have been fired and sent packing.
In the Federal government, they just reassign him.
Probably gave them a promotion as well.

Another Reason Why People Hate Government
This is a tragic case in Connecticut where a child was stolen from her family by the State of Massachusetts Child Protective Services and arrogant doctors, social workers and judges.
From Fox News: The teen at the center of a custody battle triggered by differing diagnoses by two Massachusetts hospitals will be transferred from the Bay State to a facility in her home state of Connecticut, according to Massachusetts officials, but her parents are not welcoming the decision.
Secretary of Health and Human Services John Polanowicz said Monday the "reunification" plan calls for 15-year-old Justina Pelletier to be transferred to a facility in Thompson, Conn., as the first step in a process that could eventually return her to the custody of her parents. A judge will make the final decision to return Justina to her family.....
The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families took emergency custody of Justina on Valentine’s Day 2013 after doctors at Tufts Medical Center, which had been treating her for a rare condition, and doctors as Boston Children’s Hospital, clashed over the cause of her medical problems, which included difficulty eating and walking.
At Tufts, Justina had been treated for mitochondrial disease, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting cellular energy production. When Justina began experiencing some gastrointestinal problems, the Tufts doctor treating her, Dr. Mark Korson, wanted the girl to visit Dr. Alejandro Flores at Boston Children's Hospital, according to the family's attorney, Phil Moran. Flores had treated Justina in the past, Moran said, and Korson thought it beneficial for the teen to see a gastroenterologist.
What happened next was a "tragic nightmare" for Justina, according to her father.
Justina was taken by ambulance to Boston Children's Hospital because she was in a wheelchair at the time and a heavy snowstorm was blanketing the region. Because she arrived by ambulance, she was taken directly into the hospital's emergency room, where a "resident refused to send her to Dr. Flores" and, "declared this was his case," according to Moran. He said the unnamed resident then called upon a psychologist who diagnosed Justina with somatoform disorder -- a mental condition in which a patient experiences symptoms that are real but have no physical or biological explanation. Justina was diagnosed with the disorder "within 25 minutes," Moran claims.
The Pelletier family rejected the new psychiatric diagnosis and wanted to bring Justina back to Tufts, Moran said. He claims the hospital tried to force the girl's parents to sign papers preventing them from seeking another opinion.
After tempers flared between the Pelletiers and staff at Boston Children's, the hospital notified the state that it suspected the parents of medical child abuse.
The girl was kept at Boston Children’s psychiatric ward for nearly a year, but was then slated to be transferred to another state facility. Johnston said the family, which vented its anger in various media interviews, hampered efforts to have her placed as near them as possible. She is currently being held at the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network facility in Framingham, Mass.
Pelletier has claimed Johnson ignored the testimony of his daughter's original doctors, who stand by the diagnosis of mitochondrial disease. In the more than a year since the ordeal began, the Pelletiers have only been allowed hourly visits each week with their daughter, whose condition, they say, has deteriorated. She has not attended school or church since the family lost custody of her, he said. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/05/06/justina-pelletier-to-be-transferred-to-conn-facility-mass-officials-said/
It seems that many times, CPS either over reaches, like in this case and takes away kids from their parents when they don't need to and then their are many times when they don't do enough.
It's tough to be a social worker in CPS- at times, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't and many times, their case load is quite large.
However, this case is a blatent abuse of power by social workers, doctors, judges and others who have kept Justina from her family. It sounds like child kidnappers from Massachusetts are on an ego trip and they have to lie and lie to cover their lies,
