From Wisconsin Rapids:" A 31-year-old Rudolph woman who authorities said failed to prevent her infant child from abuse that led to more than 20 bone fractures avoided incarceration Friday after pleading no contest to related charges....Hetze-Werner's husband, Joshua J. Werner, 25, who remains in the Wood County Jail, is accused of causing 22 fractures to the 2-month-old child....During Friday's hearing, Wood County Circuit Court Judge James Mason sentenced Hetze-Werner to two years of probation. Mason said he hopes she has learned from the experience that it is her responsibility to take care of and protect her child." http://www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com/article/20091010/WRT0101/910100631/1982
So, a mother allows her daughter to suffer tremendously because of physicaly abuse, gets only 2 years probation and the judge hopes she learns her lesson. How pathetic.
But it gets worse: "Brazeau said Hetze-Werner has been visiting her daughter, who is now 16 months old, twice a month and has regular contact with the baby's foster mother." If there ever was a case where parental rights should have been terminated, this is it. While the so called "mother" may have had mental issues that a court would have had a somewhat difficult issues to convict, she should have had her parental rights terminated immediately. Further, 2 years probation? How about enough probation to see her through her child bearing years.
This is a disgrace by the judge and DA of Wood County.
