Bloggers Who Need Some Serious Help
I usually don't like to call out fellow bloggers for their posts because I don't think it is very ethical and they are entitled to their opinion. However, when they go off the deep end and it affects other people or their post is just plain stupid, I will make exceptions. Having said that, two Wisconsin bloggers are in need of some serious, serious help. There is no other way to put it, sadly. First, there is Jay at Folkbum who claims he is being discriminated against because a finance committee is holding a hearing in West Allis, WI (by Milwaukee) from 9-6 and he can't get out of school until 4:30 and he may not be able to speak. From Folkbum: On Monday, April 11, Wisconsin's Joint Finance Committee will be taking public testimony on the 2011-2013 biennial state budget. This will be at State Fair Park in West Allis, and they are scheduled to start hearing testimony at 10 AM and wrap up promptly at 6 PM.Oh, how very thoughtful of the JFC, you may be thinking, bringing the committee to the state's most populous county and holding a full day of hearings in a venue large enough to accommodate a large crowd. Well, that's Republican Robin Vos's thought, anyway; “The reason we’re having them in venues that are large is because we saw all the protests that happened at the Capitol. People who told us we intentionally had them in small rooms because we didn’t listen to what people had to say,” Vos told a local teevee station.Sure. But what about people like me, who will be working all day Monday? Remember, when teachers abandon their posts to advocate for their children, we get beat up in the media, so don't even think about encouraging us to call in sick or anything. And if I booked out of school as soon as it was over, I could maybe be there by 4:30 and get in line--only to be SOL when they turn off the mics at 6:00. http://folkbum.blogspot.com/ This was written by Jay Bullock, a Milwaukee school teacher. Apparently, Jay doesn't realize this but the world does not revolve around him. Apparently, the fact that the committee is meeting for 9 hours, minus lunch time, if they have one doesn't matter to Bullock. Apparently, Jay doesn't know that he can write a letter to the committee members. Apparently, Jay doesn't know that he can pick up a phone and call the members of the committee. Apparently, Jay doesn't know he can write an e-mail to members of the committee. And apparently doesn't know that he can actually go to Madison and try and meet the members of the committee. But the bottom line is that Jay is one of those people, common to society nowadays, that believes in the mantra of "mine, mine, mine. The world revolves around me. I am number 1. High Five". The second blogger is my friend capper. He has hatred of Wisconsin governor, Scott Walker and his hatred of Walker has gone on for years, ever since Walker was the county executive of Milwaukee County. Most of his posts about Walker are kind of funny with all the hatred he has for Walker. But yesterday, capper just went completely off the deep end: Regardless of one's philosophy, political leaning or theology, I would think that everyone can agree that one of the worst things a person could do is use a religion to commit horrible atrocities against other people. http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2011/04/sacrilege.html So, now in capper's eyes, whatever Scott Walker has done is on par with Hitler and the Holocaust, Pol Pot, Stalin, the massacres in Rwanda, the drug wars in Mexico, what is going on in Libya, Syria and Ivory Coast today. What capper has done is cheapen the words "horrible atrocities" in the name of politics and that is beyond the pale. You may disagree with what Walker has done and that is fine, it's all about politics and it is fair game. But to compare Walker with the worst people ever on the face of the earth cheapens what the victims of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot etc went through. You put their memory to shame. Further, if Walker was as bad as these people are, capper would not be alive right now. Walker would have had capper killed, if he was this horrible dictator. So, I really hope capper and Bullock step back and realize that the world doesn't revolve around Bullock and that while capper hates Walker, Walker is not committing horrible atrocities. He just isn't doing the things you want him to do. So, keep things in perspective, capper and Bullock and maybe you won't look like the fool.
