Very Stupid Educator News
I am a teacher. I also very embarrassed by the actions of some of my fellow educators. Here is another case of very stupid educator news. From The Chicago Tribune: Fernando Dominguez cut the figure of a young revolutionary leader during a recent lunch period at his elementary school."Who thinks the lunch is not good enough?" the seventh-grader shouted to his lunch mates in Spanish and English.Dozens of hands flew in the air and fellow students shouted along: "We should bring our own lunch! We should bring our own lunch! We should bring our own lunch!"Fernando waved his hand over the crowd and asked a visiting reporter: "Do you see the situation?". At his public school, Little Village Academy on Chicago's West Side, students are not allowed to pack lunches from home. Unless they have a medical excuse, they must eat the food served in the cafeteria. So, kids are no longer are not allowed to bring their sack lunches from home because the school thinks they can do a better job. "I'm from the government and I am here to help". This is what the stupid, idiot moron principal has to say about this: Principal Elsa Carmona said her intention is to protect students from their own unhealthful food choices."Nutrition wise, it is better for the children to eat at the school," Carmona said. "It's about the nutrition and the excellent quality food that they are able to serve (in the lunchroom). It's milk versus a Coke. But with allergies and any medical issue, of course, we would make an exception."Carmona said she created the policy six years ago after watching students bring "bottles of soda and flaming hot chips" on field trips for their lunch. Although she would not name any other schools that employ such practices, she said it was fairly common. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/education/ct-met-school-lunch-restrictions-041120110410,0,4567867.story Who the hell does this principal think she is to take the place of a parent? And if the parent sends a can of soda to school, so what? Maybe the parent is rewarding the child for doing something good in their life, like doing homework, doing chores etc. Further, what happens if the child doesn't qualify for free lunch? Then she forces the parent to send lunch money? Isn't that extortion? And the school lunch is better? Based on what? Is it nutritious if the kids don't eat the lunch? And from what I have seen in school lunches, they are hardly nutritious. I think the main reason why this horrible principal is doing this is to get more money from the Feds. The more free meals served, the more money the school gets. Cha ching for the principal. I really hope that this principal is investigated in regards to the federal free lunch program. Certainly she ought to be removed from being an administrator in a school and never be employed again as an educator, ever. She is just a lunatic school employee that was employed by Arne Duncan, head of the Department of Education, when he was in charge of the Chicago Public Schools Guess what may be coming down the tube soon?
