From the Las Vegas Sun: A woman says she spent $78,000 with a Clark County matchmaking
service seeking a European dream date but ended up with only four duds.
Mary Davis of the United Kingdom filed a lawsuit in Clark County
District Court against Irene Valenti of California and Valenti
Enterprises LLC, which does business in Clark County. Davis, who had
asked for a partial refund, is seeking more than $10,000 in damages.
Valenti has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit said that on Feb. 15, 2010 — the day after Valentine’s
Day — Davis wired $78,279.55 for a two-year service agreement. The
matchmaking service was to introduce her to “suitable male companions”
to help in “finding that one special individual” to share her life.
Davis said that between March and November 2010, she was introduced to only three men — and only one lived in Europe.
During that time, while on vacation to New York, she was also
introduced to a New Jersey man, “who was completely tied to his six
children and ailing parents and unable to travel to the United Kingdom,”

I understand the need for a dating service as you are able to meet different people around the country and world. And some people get lucky and find their match and get married.
But to pay over $78,000 for someone to set you up seems like a "Holy Crap" moment. I think I am in the wrong business if people will hand over that amount of money to find love.

Obama: Stricter Gun Control for Peasants
Well, that was quick. The other day, right after the Colorado Theater tragedy, Obama said that he is not in favor of restricting gun ownership.
But to the Urban League, he sings a different tune: From the Chicago Tribune: President Obama vowed Wednesday night to “leave no stone unturned” in seeking ways to curb the growing challenge of violence in American cities, including reasonable restrictions on gun ownership.
The president offered his most extensive comments in some time on the issue of gun control in a speech to the National Urban League, which came at the end of a four-day trip that began in Colorado, where he met with victims of the movie theater shooting that claimed a dozen lives. After that meeting, he reflected on the lives affected by the shooting, but did not suggest a refreshed attempt to restrict gun ownership...
Acknowledging sensitivity of the issue, he said he nonetheless believes that even gun owners would agree “that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of children.” He offered no specific proposals but referred to background checks to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons, and preventing guns from getting into the hands of the mentally unbalanced. For disclosure: I am not a gun owner, my knowledge of guns is pretty limited and I have no interest in owning a gun.
First, the AK 47 reference is pretty stupid since the U.S. military does not use AK 47's.- it's a Russian made gun and the AK 47 for sale for the public is not the same that is used in the military. For the public, it is sold as a semi automatic and for military, it is an automatic rifle.
Aside from Obama's stupidity on the AK 47, as liberal, he just doesn't understand crime. The gun is not the criminal it is the person holding the gun or other weapon. The criminal is going to get a gun illegally and then use it for illegal methods. The only people hurt are the law abiding people.
Then, it is the culture of crime. When you have gangs, drug dealers and other violent criminals, especially in the inner cities, you need to change the culture of these criminals. How do you do it? A lot of peer pressure, stop the no-snitching policy in the hood and have true leaders who actually care about the inner cities.
Obviously, Obama is one of the leaders who doesn't care about the crime in the inner cities along with poverty and other problems associated with crime. Drugs problems? Obama is/was a heavy pot smoker and doesn't think it was a big deal. Poverty? His policies have put more people into poverty than any other president. Crime? He never talks about except now. Cares about the inner city? Nope, he avoids the inner city like the plague.
So, until we have true leadership, and the current administrators, from Obama, down to Eric Holder to Janet Napalitano are not leaders. They are excuse makers and that is not what we need to help solve the problems of crime. Until they are eliminated from power in this next election, there will be no hope for the victims of crimes.

3 Year Old Shoots, Kills Father

say a 3-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his father after
finding the man's loaded handgun in a southern Indiana home.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin says the 33-year-old Martinsville man had brought his gun with him Friday to a home he was remodeling in Salem, about 25 miles northwest of Louisville, Ky.
Goodin says the man, his wife, their three children and a juvenile relative were at the home when the 3-year-old boy apparently found the gun and it accidentally discharged, fatally wounding the man. I don't own a gun, but if I did and I also had a 3 year old child, I would make damn sure that the gun is out of sight out of mind for the toddler.
Yes, it was an accident, but it was a totally preventable accident. The only good thing is that this should not affect the toddler as her probably will not remember the incident in the long term

Suicide By Tiger
From Reuters: A man was killed by tigers at a zoo on Wednesday after
he scaled a fence and crossed a moat to get into their enclosure in the
Danish capital Copenhagen, police said.
The man, in his early 20s, was savaged by three tigers after he broke into Copenhagen Zoo in the early hours. He was dead when staff arrived for work.
"We received an emergency call at about 7:30 a.m. that a person had been found lying in the tiger pen and that three tigers were surrounding that person," police Superintendent Lars Borg told Reuters.
"The tigers attacked him and killed him. It is likely that a bite to the throat was the primary reason for his death," Borg said.

Eric Holder Stupity At It's Finest

Earlier today, Attorney General Eric Holder addressed the NAACP Nation Convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. What did media need in order to attend? That's right, government issued photo identification (and a second form of identification too!), something both Holder and the NAACP stand firmly against when it comes to voting. Holder's DOJ is currently suing Texas for "discriminatory" voter ID laws. From the press release:All media must present government-issued photo I.D. (such as a driver’s license) as well as valid media credentials. Members of the media must RSVP to receive press credentials at http://action.naacp.org/page/s/registration. For security purposes, media check-in and equipment set up must be completed by 7:45 a.m. CDT for an 8:00 a.m. CDT security sweep. Once the security sweep is completed, additional media equipment will NOT be permitted to enter and swept equipment will NOT be permitted to exit.

Shelly Berkley Stupidity
Shelly Berkley is in trouble and it is all her fault.
She cannot blame Republicans. She cannot blame Dean Heller. She cannot blame The Koch Brothers. She cannot blame Sheldon Adleson. She is the only one to blame for her being investigated by the U.S. House Ethics Committee.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Nevada Rep. Shelley Berkley was always going to have to face some tough music on the Senate campaign trail over allegations she used her seat in Congress to push for policies and programs that benefited her family’s bottom line.
But the inquiry that stood at least a chance of being dismissed as a political witch hunt now ranks among the most serious investigations of alleged ethical offenses taking place this Congress.
The House Committee on Ethics voted unanimously Monday to appoint an investigative subcommittee, armed with full subpoena power, to determine whether Berkley violated the House’s Code of Official Conduct over matters “in which (her) husband had a financial interest.”

Berkley's argument is that she was trying to help out the UMC kidney program, which is not a problem. But because Berkley's husband is part of the kidney's program at UMC, Berkley and her husband benefited from her voting on the bills.
The key words are "Voting On". She could have lobbied for the help, she could have let people know ahead of time of her conflict, she could have asked the ethics committee for advice on the issue.
But in her arrogance, she chose not to do anything except hide the fact that her husband and herself benefited from the legislation that was passed.
And for that, she has no one to blame but her self.

Buh Bye California As You Sink Into A Big Black Hole
The Democrats in California have just voted to spends billions of dollars for high speed rail, thereby killing California.
From Sacramento Bee: By a bare majority, the state Senate voted Friday to approve initial construction on California's $68 billion high-speed rail project, ending months of intense lobbying and uncertainty in the Legislature.

Question: How many miles of high speed rail do we have in the United States?
Answer: Zero, none, nada
California is going to spend billions on a fantasy while cutting social programs, school aid and emergency responders.
Further, if this thing ever gets built, California taxpayers will be subsidizing the high speed rail forever.
Now, if Brian Sandoval, governor of Nevada was smart, he would be on a plane tomorrow, knocking on doors of California businesses and begging them come to Nevada. Governors from other states will probably be doing the same thing.
Do the Democrats even care or are just plain stupid that they are killing their State? Probably not.
And as far as the Nevada Desert Express, our version of high speed rail, this is not good news as there are not going to be any links to the Desert Express to Victorville or anywhere else close to there.
So, thanks to California Democrats, they are going to kill California while helping other states who will benefit from their stupidity.

Latino Marine Doing 1M Pushups For Wounded Soldiers

Umm, who cares what race the Marine is, especially when he is doing the push ups for all soldiers/Marines who have been injured, regardless what race they are.
From the story: A U.S. Marine is on a mission to help soldiers injured while serving in the military.
U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Enrique Trevino began the push-up challenge as a New Year's resolution. "I just challenged myself to do a million push-ups," said Trevino.
Now, Sergeant Trevino is determined to do 1 million push ups by year's end, for the Wounded Warrior Project. "Instead of doing a million push-ups to benefit myself," he said, "I want to give back to my brothers and sisters in the armed forces, who have had so much taken away from them."
The project provides programs and services to severely-injured service members, during the time between active duty and transition into civilian life. "A lot of people have forgotten about them," Trevino said.
Trevino is hoping to change that, and so far, it seems to be working. "When it started going viral, it just amazed me how many followers I got," he said. "It means a lot. I tell them that all the time."

Cassidy, 62, won't be invited back, said Roy Jernigan, who books acts for the property.
An estimated 50 to 60 people walked out of the show, with many requesting refunds, after Cassidy's shaky and at times testy outing.
The former breakout star of "The Partridge Family" had trouble remembering the words to his songs and at times scolded the audience, according to a number of show-goers who contacted the Review-Journal.
"I've never seen as horrendous a show," David McNott said. He said Cassidy sang nine to 10 songs in 90 minutes and rambled on and on about this being a "tribute" to Jones, clearly not realizing that he was repeating the same thing "over ... and over ... and over."

Las Vegas is a place where old entertainers come to finish their career, if they are lucky enough to have a long career. I've been to a few shows in Vegas in which this is the singer's last hurrah and those entertainers always seem to appreciate their audience and some will even meet and greet audience members after the show. They know they have been lucky to have an extended career.
But very now and then, you get a jerk like David Cassidy who couldn't care less about the audience who pays his bills.
Now, having said that, then when you go to Cassidy's web site, he apparently gave such a wonderful concert and Cassidy is a god: http://www.davidcassidy.com/blog/2012/06/concert-june-29-2012/#comment-5151
I put in a request to see how they explain Norm's column, but I have a feeling that they will boot the comment from his blog.
So, if you are a performer, you need to appreciate your audience and remember is that they are the one's paying your bills and allowing them to live the life you do.
Update: As expected the Cassidy groupies decided to boot my comment from their blog. What a shock. Looking at the comments, my guess, all the comments were written by just one person, probably his publicist.

closer to sending female athletes to the Olympics for the first time
amid mounting pressure on the ultraconservative Muslim kingdom to grant
women more rights.
Deliberations by Saudi officials on sending women to the Games have been wrapped in secrecy for fear of a backlash from the powerful religious establishment within a deeply traditional society, in which women are severely restricted in public life and are not even allowed to drive.
Saudi Arabia is one of three countries that have never included women in their Olympic teams, along with Qatar and Brunei. The International Olympic Committee said talks have been ongoing with Saudi Arabia to ensure participation and a statement by the country's embassy in London said female athletes, who qualify, could be allowed to participate.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking forward to its complete participation in the London 2012 Olympic Games through the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, which will oversee the participation of women athletes who can qualify for the Games," the statement said.

Well, that is so big of that backwards, bigoted Muslim country to allow their women to participate in the Olympics. All of this time, the Muslim leadership In Saudi Arabia probably thought barefoot and pregnant was an Olympic event.

The International Olympic Committee said talks have been ongoing with Saudi Arabia to ensure participation and a statement by the country's embassy in London said female athletes, who qualify, could be allowed to participate.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking forward to its complete participation in the London 2012 Olympic Games through the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, which will oversee the participation of women athletes who can qualify for the Games," the statement said.

Well, that is so big of that backwards, bigoted Muslim country to allow their women to participate in the Olympics. All of this time, the Muslim leadership In Saudi Arabia probably thought barefoot and pregnant was an Olympic event.
However, it is not a done deal as they really don't have any athletes to send. But, if women are not allowed to compete this Olympics, the International Olympic Committee ought to kick the Saudi's out of the Olympics until they come out of the Stone Age, even though it is an insult to the Stone Age.

Wheeee! Oh Crap
Another Darwin Award winner candidate, this time from Reno, NV.
From the Reno Gazette-Journal: A Reno man who died Wednesday when he fled authorities into a trash compactor has been identified as Rodney L. Wright Jr., 37.
About 11 a.m. Wednesday Reno Municipal Court marshals spotted Wright, who they thought may be wanted for misdemeanor arrest warrants, police said. He fled on his bicycle. Wright then ran from the officers after crashing his bike near the Truckee River Lodge on First and Ralston streets. Marshals lost sight of him and called off the search. But about 11:24 a.m., an employee of the lodge found Wright in the trash compactor and told police.
Police believe he entered the trash chute from one of the floors of the lodge and slid down into the compactor, which activated automatically when he entered. Wright was severely injured and after removing him from the compactor officers immediately began life-saving efforts, police said. An ambulance took him to a hospital where he was declared dead. Darwin Award Winner Nominee
From the Orlando Sentinel: After eating an ounce of cocaine hidden in his brother's buttocks, a South Carolina man died soon after.
Deangelo Mitchell, 23, and his brother Wayne, 20, were in the back of a North Charleston Police Department cruiser on Nov. 30. The duo was being transported to jail when they began whispering about narcotics hidden inside the older sibling.
The Mitchells were arrested when a police officer found three small bags of cocaine underneath a rear seat of their 2001 Chrysler. It is evident in video footage that Deangelo Mitchell encouraged his younger brother to ingest the cocaine. The older Mitchell has a lengthy record and was concerned that he could face life in prison if convicted of a narcotics charge. "I can't get no more strikes," he told his brother.
He further directed his brother to "Eat that s***" and "Chew that s***."
In the footage, Wayne Mitchell can be seen, in handcuffs, reaching back to retrieve the cocaine from his brother. He then drops his head while he eats the cocaine.
Wayne Mitchell soon after began convulsing and bleeding from his mouth. "White powder residue" was found on the rear seat of the police cruiser, cops noted. Deangelo later said "he believed his brother swallowed an ounce of cocaine."

From Yahoo News: Coca-Cola Co and McDonald's Corp fired back at New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg on Thursday for proposing a ban of large-sized soft drinks at restaurants and other food service outlets.
"New Yorkers expect and deserve better than this. They can make their own choices about the beverages they purchase," Coca-Cola said in a statement.
The world's largest soft-drink maker, which would also be disproportionately affected by such a ban, said it already includes calorie counts on the front of its bottles and cans in New York and that restaurants already post the calorie content of all their offerings and portion sizes, including soft drinks.
The statement from Coke comes a day after Mayor Bloomberg said he was proposing an amendment to the city's health code to prohibit food service outlets from selling sugary soft drinks larger than 16 ounces.
The ban would apply to restaurants, mobile food carts, delicatessens and concessions at movie theaters, stadiums or arenas, where sales of fountain drinks are common. It would not apply to convenience stores, grocery stores or drug stores, which mostly sell beverages in bottles and cans.
Targeting cup sizes is the latest move in an ongoing effort to reduce Americans' calories from sugary drinks. That is part of a broader push to fight obesity, which is a huge and growing burden to the nation's healthcare system.
"Public health issues cannot be effectively addressed through a narrowly focused and misguided ban," said a spokeswoman for McDonald's USA. "This is a complex topic, and one that requires a more collaborative and comprehensive approach.

A La Crosse man recorded himself on a stolen video camera taunting police, who didn't have much trouble identifying him after he introduced himself. Now he's in jail, and the video is on YouTube."This is my house, yes, and a stolen camera that I stole," he says. "But it's OK, the cops won't figure it out."
He continues: "Oh yeah, to introduce you, my name is Houaka Yang, so yeah. How do you do?"
Authorities said Yang, 20, left behind a trail of videos of himself on the camera he allegedly stole late May 11 from an unlocked car outside the home of Republican state Senate candidate Bill Feehan.

So, Zimmerman Was Beat Up By Obama's Son

Martin murderer George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News
found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a "closed fracture" of his
nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and
a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an
alleged altercation.
Zimmerman faces a second degree murder charge for the Feb. 26 shooting that left the unarmed 17-year-old high school junior dead. Zimmerman has claimed self defense in what he described as a life and death struggle that Martin initiated by accosting him, punching him in the face, then repeatedly bashing his head into the pavement....
The record shows that Zimmerman also suffered bruising in the upper lip and cheek and lower back pain. The two lacerations on the back of his head, one of them nearly an inch long, the other about a quarter-inch long, were first revealed in photos obtained exclusively by ABC News last month.

I think Zimmerman could have handled things better that night, along with Trayvon Martin, but once you start injuring someone so badly in a fight that you break a guy's nose, all bets are off and it's a fight to the finish, or in this case, to the death.
But this case will be politicized, especially those on the left because they have already invested a great deal of political capital already, so they really cannot back down without looking like fools.
Because Obama and Eric Holder have already committed themselves to Martin's sides, they do anything to get a conviction, even if it is not justified.
This case reminds me of the case in Pahrump that is ongoing in the court system. You had a daughter of a man thrown in jail for domestic violence. She calls her young boyfriend to go to her and her dad's house to get clothes and her car. The father says to the boy that the boy should not come to the dad's house and they communicate this through Facebook and the idiot kid still went to the house, totally uninvited.. It was made quite clear that the boy should never have gone to the dad's house, but the boy went to the dad's house and then refused to leave, even after the father fired a gun shot at the kid's car. After the warnings, the father went to the kid's car and shot the kid to death.
Like Martin, the kid was head strong and didn't want to listen to other people and because both Martin and the boyfriend decided to fight it out, they are both now dead, with both adults facing murder charges.
So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but in the end, you have 4 families that are ruined- Martin and Zoimmerman and the father and the boyfriend and all over stupid reasons.

Las Vegas Review Journal: Cowards
The Las Vegas Review Journal (LVRJ) is joining the ranks of many papers in which they are demanding that people who comment on their stories sign in on Facebook:
Registration Notice: This week the Review-Journal will be implementing a new registration procedure that requires all existing and new accounts to validate and login using Facebook. We appreciate your patience while the transition occurs.
So, he LVRJ expects it's readers (whom are dwindling) come out and give them and the public their first and last names through Facebook.
I don't belong to Facebook and I choose not to. To me, I like my privacy and I really don't care if people know me or not.
But, there are crazy people out there, both on the right, left, middle, who, when they see who is really commenting, may harass the commentator. It may be on their Facebook page, or they may and try and find them in the community. It can put the people who chose to comment on an article in danger from the crazies.
Meanwhile, editorial writers who comment on the news at the LVRJ continue to be anonymous. How hypocritical is that? What a bunch of cowards.
