Another Reason Why People Hate Government

This is a tragic case in Connecticut where a child was stolen from her family by the State of Massachusetts Child Protective Services and arrogant doctors, social workers and judges.
From Fox News: The teen at the center of a custody battle triggered by differing diagnoses by two Massachusetts hospitals will be transferred from the Bay State to a facility in her home state of Connecticut, according to Massachusetts officials, but her parents are not welcoming the decision.
Secretary of Health and Human Services John Polanowicz said Monday the "reunification" plan calls for 15-year-old Justina Pelletier to be transferred to a facility in Thompson, Conn., as the first step in a process that could eventually return her to the custody of her parents. A judge will make the final decision to return Justina to her family.....
The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families took emergency custody of Justina on Valentine’s Day 2013 after doctors at Tufts Medical Center, which had been treating her for a rare condition, and doctors as Boston Children’s Hospital, clashed over the cause of her medical problems, which included difficulty eating and walking.
At Tufts, Justina had been treated for mitochondrial disease, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting cellular energy production. When Justina began experiencing some gastrointestinal problems, the Tufts doctor treating her, Dr. Mark Korson, wanted the girl to visit Dr. Alejandro Flores at Boston Children's Hospital, according to the family's attorney, Phil Moran. Flores had treated Justina in the past, Moran said, and Korson thought it beneficial for the teen to see a gastroenterologist.
What happened next was a "tragic nightmare" for Justina, according to her father.
Justina was taken by ambulance to Boston Children's Hospital because she was in a wheelchair at the time and a heavy snowstorm was blanketing the region. Because she arrived by ambulance, she was taken directly into the hospital's emergency room, where a "resident refused to send her to Dr. Flores" and, "declared this was his case," according to Moran. He said the unnamed resident then called upon a psychologist who diagnosed Justina with somatoform disorder -- a mental condition in which a patient experiences symptoms that are real but have no physical or biological explanation. Justina was diagnosed with the disorder "within 25 minutes," Moran claims.
The Pelletier family rejected the new psychiatric diagnosis and wanted to bring Justina back to Tufts, Moran said. He claims the hospital tried to force the girl's parents to sign papers preventing them from seeking another opinion.
After tempers flared between the Pelletiers and staff at Boston Children's, the hospital notified the state that it suspected the parents of medical child abuse.
The girl was kept at Boston Children’s psychiatric ward for nearly a year, but was then slated to be transferred to another state facility. Johnston said the family, which vented its anger in various media interviews, hampered efforts to have her placed as near them as possible. She is currently being held at the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network facility in Framingham, Mass.
Pelletier has claimed Johnson ignored the testimony of his daughter's original doctors, who stand by the diagnosis of mitochondrial disease. In the more than a year since the ordeal began, the Pelletiers have only been allowed hourly visits each week with their daughter, whose condition, they say, has deteriorated. She has not attended school or church since the family lost custody of her, he said.  http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/05/06/justina-pelletier-to-be-transferred-to-conn-facility-mass-officials-said/
It seems that many times, CPS either over reaches, like in this case and takes away kids from their parents when they don't need to and then their are many times when they don't do enough.
It's tough to be a social worker in CPS- at times, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't and many times, their case load is quite large.
However, this case is a blatent abuse of power by social workers, doctors, judges and others who have kept Justina from her family.  It sounds like child kidnappers from  Massachusetts are on an ego trip and they have to lie and lie to cover their lies,

Conservatives 5 Liberals 4= Prayers Allowed

From the Chicago Sun Times: Prayers that open town council meetings do not violate the Constitution even if they routinely stress Christianity, a divided Supreme Court ruled Monday.
The court said in 5-4 decision that the content of the prayers is not significant as long as they do not denigrate non-Christians or proselytize.
The ruling by the court's conservative majority was a victory for the town of Greece, N.Y., outside of Rochester. The Obama administration sided with the town.
In 1983, the court upheld an opening prayer in the Nebraska legislature and said that prayer is part of the nation's fabric, not a violation of the First Amendment. Monday's ruling was consistent with the earlier one.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, said the prayers are ceremonial and in keeping with the nation's traditions.
"The inclusion of a brief, ceremonial prayer as part of a larger exercise in civic recognition suggests that its purpose and effect are to acknowledge religious leaders and the institutions they represent, rather than to exclude or coerce nonbelievers," Kennedy said.  http://politics.suntimes.com/article/washington/supreme-court-ruling-backs-prayers-open-council-meetings/mon-05052014-920am
It really baffles me that the 4 liberals would think it would be unconstitutional to say a simple prayer before a meeting of an elected government body.
Are liberals that afraid of a prayer?  Are they that afraid of some words?  Has anybody been seriously damaged because some person or group got up before a meeing and spoke a few words?
Good for the Supremes, at least 5 of them for their use of common sense.

Aother Reason Why Food Costs So Much

The Faithful Departed Morons
Today, at the grocery store I work at, some idiot came to bring back about $40 of food, including Lunchables, deli meat, bacon etc.
The reason for the return?
The food was spoiled?  Nope.
The food didn't taste good?  Nope
The food was out of date?  Nope.
The real reason for this moron for bringing back the food?
Because the idiot is going out of town and he was afraid the food was going to spoil and he wanted his money back.
And he got his money back and the food was thrown away.
And store had to eat the costs of the food.
And this is just another reason why food costs keep going up.

Poll: Who Is Going To Win The NBA Championshi?

I have put up a new poll and you get to guess who will win the NBA basketball championship.
Now, this is the time to make a pick when there are 8 teams left.  It's too easy to make picks when there are only 2-4 teams left in the playoffs.
And with the playoff series being pretty close and exciting, every team has a chance to win the NBA crown.
And the winner is?????

Talk About A Traffic Nightmare

View image on Twitter
Image
Thank goodness this didn't happen this past weekend when thousands upon thousands from California came to Vegas for the Maryweather fight and betting on the NBA and the Kentucky Derby.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Interstate 15 in Hesperia is expected to remain closed in both directions for up to two days after a fire was accidentally ignited by a worker at a bridge construction site Monday.
Officials said drivers should stay away from the Cajon Pass, which is just south of the area of Interstate 15 closed by the fire. Traffic was backed up 6 miles to the south and up to 20 miles to the north Monday evening.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/may/05/i-15-closed-southern-california-overpass-fire/
A 20 mile traffic jam?  Wow!
And the fire was caused by some idiot who didn't know how to use a blow torch.  Moron.

Well, Thius Explains Senile Harry Reid's Outrage At Cliven Bundy

Thanks to a writer who gave me this link and information, it turns out that Senile/Liar/Coward Harry Reid owns 93 acres of land next to the Cliven Bundy ranch over in Bunkerville,.
From the GOPDaily Dose.com:
591 reid bunkerville 610

While Senator Harry Reid professes that he is running the Bundy cattle off of public land because it’s the right thing to do, evidence indicates that Dirty Harry might have a personal interest in seeing that the Bundy’s join the other 52 ranchers they’ve run out of business.
Parcels held by an entity, Reid Bunkerville, LLC, which is partially owned by the Nevada Senator are in close proximity to the Bundy ranch.
The parcels appear to be in the path of future development, which may even involve a freeway interchange and loop, all west of Bunkerville in the same general area as those “trespass cattle.”
The parcel numbers below link to the Clark County Assessor’s Office, with all of the pertinent information and property descriptions shown.
They total 93.33 acres in size.
Source: Before It’s News
http://gopthedailydose.com/2014/05/01/smoking-blm-gun-public-records-harry-reid-owns-93-acres-next-to-bundy-ranch/
Well, this explains quite a bit and the media in the Las Vegas area and nationally should be writing about this.
Senile/Coward/Liar/Land Stealer Reid is just a pathetic excuse of a person.
It's time for the Democrat Party to get a backbone and call for his resignation as Senator.
Otherwise, when the Democrats get killed in their elections this year, they will have Reid to thank for their disastrous election results.
Thank you to the reader who sent in the link and to the sources for this story.

When Does He Hve Time To Do His Job?

Supposedly, being the president of the United States is the hardest job in the world.
Unless you are Barak Obama.
As of middle of February of 2014, Obama has played 163 rounds of golf:
http://obamagolfcounter.com/
The nuber maybe closer to 170 by now.
At 5 hours per round, that represents 850 hours of playing golf in 6 years.
If you include travel to and from the golf course, it increases the hours even more.
Then, when you include all of Obama parties, travel overseas, date night dinners and all of sudden you have hundreds if not thousands of hours of not being president.
Laziest president ever.

Well, No Kidding

From the Chicago Sun Times: U.S. teachers are nowhere near as diverse as their students.
Almost half the students attending public schools are minorities, yet fewer than 1 in 5 of their teachers is nonwhite.
New studies from the Center for American Progress and the National Education Association are calling attention to this “diversity gap” at elementary and secondary schools in the United States. The groups want more to be done to help teachers more accurately mirror the students in their classrooms.
Teachers are always pushing their students to excel, said Kevin Gilbert, coordinator of teacher leadership and special projects for the Clinton Public School District in Clinton, Mississippi.
It becomes easier for students to believe “when they can look and see someone who looks just like them, that they can relate to,” said Gilbert, a member of the NEA’s executive committee. “Nothing can help motivate our students more than to see success standing right in front of them.”
More than minority students would benefit from a more diverse teacher corps, said Ulrich Boser, the author of the center’s report.
“Even in a place like North Dakota, where the students aren’t particularly diverse relative to the rest of the country, it’s important for our social fabric, for our sense as a nation, that students are engaging with people who think, talk and act differently than them but can also be just as effective at raising student achievement in the classroom,” he said.  http://www.suntimes.com/27234090-761/us-teachers-nowhere-as-diverse-as-their-students.html#.U2dPgX7n-1s
As a teacher (for the time being) in an inner city school in Vegas and also in Milwaukee, WI. yeah, it is pretty much true that there are few minorities in the teacher corp and very few of those minority teachers teach in ghetto areas.
Like most white teachers, minority teachers don't want to teach in ghetto schools, where it is very difficult to teach students, no matter what race of the students are.
It would be nice to see more Black or Hispanic teachers would teach in inner city schools, but union rules allow them to to transfer to easier schools and they will.
Who wants to teach in ghetto areas where teachers are disrespected and it is harder to teach.

Umm, the Numbers Don't Add Up

From the Chicago SunTimes: One home was destroyed and two other damaged in an early Sunday morning fire in Oak Park, officials in the western suburb say.
No one was injured in the 4 a.m. house fires, Oak Park Fire Department Battalion Chief Ron Kobyleski said.
The exra-alarm fire drew crews from 12 neighboring communities, with 30 firefighters battling the blaze in all....
No one was injured in the blaze, which was called in to Oak Park firefighters at 4:17 a.m., Battalion Chief Ron Kobyleski said. The fire was level three-box alarm that brought in crews from 12 communities, and 30 firefighters in all.
So, you have all of the Oak Park fire department plus 12 more communities and all you can come up with is 30 firefighters?
Quite strange.
Another reason why volunteer fire departments are so important- they provide needed manpower in cases of emergencies, like this one.
(as an aside, I am a former volunteer firefighter, so this is interesting to me)

3 Persons In 1

From the NY Daily News:
What a drag.
An anti-gay Republican candidate in North Carolina worked as a drag queen performer and emcee known as 'Miss Mona Sinclair,' according to a bombshell report.
Steve Wiles, a conservative North Carolina state Senate candidate who has been outspoken in his support of the state's same-sex marriage ban, worked as a female impersonator and drag-show emcee earlier in his life, the Winston-Salem Journal reported over the weekend.
Wiles, 34, worked at a gay-friendly Winston-Salem lounge called Club Odyssey from 2002 to 2010, where he directed a weekly drag show, the club's former owner Randy Duggins told the Journal.
Prior to his directorial debut, Wiles had been a frequent attendee at the weekly soirée which featured men dressed as women. He later starred as the show's emcee under the stage name, 'Miss Mona Sinclair,' Duggins said.
Wiles, who has campaigned primarily on his support of the state's ban on gay marriage, confirmed to Business Insider that he used to perform as "Miss Mona Sinclair" at the now-defunct bar but later decided that the role "just was not something that I wanted to continue."

You have a Republican, a conservative and a drag queen all in 1 person.
And people say the GOP doesn't have a big tent that welcomes everyone.

So, You Want To Be A Circus Performer

Scarey scene in Rhode Island at the Barnum and Baily Circus:

Last year a Cirque performer died in a fall in Las Vegas.
Being a circus performer is a dangerous job and people have been injured and even killed doing circus stunts in front of specatators.
You have to give the performers a lot of credit for being athletes and performers at the same time.

Obma's NLRB Stiff's Workers, Loves Union

From Fox News:
If you are a worker trying to sever your relationship with a union, you have to make extra certain you didn't make even the tiniest error when you do it. That's what the National Labor Relations Board said Tuesday when it ruled that nine workers who decertified their union in 2012 still had to pay it another year's worth of membership dues because they sent in some of the paperwork too early.
The case involved nine workers for a Brooklyn condo complex who voted unanimously on Sept. 26, 2012, to get rid of United Workers of America Local 621 as their bargaining representative. The following week, the workers individually sent the union letters announcing that they "elected to terminate any and all such membership obligations" with it.
However the NLRB did not officially recognize the decertification vote until Oct. 11, 10 days after the union received the workers' letters. On the basis of that, Local 621 claimed it never received proper termination letters. The union was able to get the workers' employer to continue to deduct membership dues from their paychecks for another full year after they had voted to get rid of it.  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/05/04/nlrb-rules-workers-must-pay-year-worth-dues-to-decertified-union/?intcmp=latestnews
Just another example where Obama's NLRB hurts the workers in favor of the unions.
Anytime you hear that Obama stands up for workers, just don't believe it.  Workers mean squat to Obama.  Unions on the other hand, kick Michelle out of President Obama's bed and make passionate love to Obama.

This Is Harrassment?

From Firehouse.com: A federal appeals court has reinstated an Oakland firefighter's lawsuit claiming co-workers harassed and ostracized him and other African Americans because of their race, tampered with his food, left a dead bird under his bed and disciplined him when he complained.
Ronald Curtis' claim of a hostile work environment was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, who said his allegations, if proven, failed to show severe or pervasive mistreatment that was racially motivated. The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed Wednesday and said a jury could conclude that Curtis was racially harassed.
After several years in the Fire Department, Curtis transferred in 2007 to the downtown fire station at 1605 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, said his lawyer, Pamela Price. She said it was considered a desirable assignment and had seldom been given to African Americans before Curtis arrived, followed soon by three others he had encouraged to apply.
The black firefighters were assigned to the same shift and were quickly made to feel unwelcome, Price said. A contaminant was found in their syrup, a co-worker brought them children's-size buns with their hot dogs, they were denied the right to swap shifts, and they were generally shunned by their colleagues, she said.
After the four firefighters filed a discrimination complaint in 2008, Price said, Curtis found a dead bird under his bed, and later found honey smeared around the bed. Someone stole his gate opener and his keys, both of which he found several months later hanging from the ceiling, she said.  http://www.firehouse.com/news/11438312/black-san-francisco-california-firefighters-discrimination-suit-reinstated
Small buns for hot dogs?  Seriously?
Shunned by their co-workers?  Maybe they were assholes- the plaintiff, that is.
Someone stole his keys and garage opener?  Maybe the fool just lost them and is blaming others for his mistake.
And a dead bird under his bed.  Seriously?
Maybe he would rather have this happen (From Ladder 49 and look at the 2:20 minute when the bird comes out the locker- darn funny)

There are instances of racial discrimination in the work place, but this ain't one of them.

Maryweather Is Still A Thug

I will say it: Floyd Mryweather is a thug.  Despite what he does in the ring, he is a thug who beats up people weaker than he is and I will never give him any respect.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
Marcos Maidana succeeded in at least one area where Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s 45 previous opponents had failed: The Argentine contender flustered boxing’s pound-for-pound kingpin.
Mayweather was adamant no such thing happened in the fight, in which he defeated Maidana by majority decision (117-111, 116-112, 114-114) Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. But counterpunches or defensive stances could hide Mayweather’s unease after the fight, which several observers called the closest of the undefeated fighter's career.
The unified WBC and WBA welterweight champion arrived at the post-fight news conference angry, intent to spend the duration of the session patronizing Maidana.
Mayweather interrupted and demeaned Maidana for about 30 minutes before inciting a near-confrontation on the dais.
“Enough, Floyd,” Maidana said through his translator. “Just give me the (expletive) rematch and we’ll see what’s up.”  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/may/04/mayweather-maidana-rematch-looks-imminent-after-te/
And Maryweather, who had a little lamb, had to resort to dirty tricks to win:
The crazy dispute between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana over which boxing gloves Maidana could wear was resolved overnight and their pay-per-view bout for the WBA and WBC welterweight titles at the MGM Grand is on.
That was hardly unexpected, as the controversy seems yet another attempt by Mayweather to get into Maidana's head.
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said he spoke to Mayweather adviser Al Haymon, who confirmed the bout is on. Schaefer said Mayweather will wear Grant gloves, while Maidana will fight in Everlast. Schaefer did not know specifically which brand of Everlast Maidana will wear, though the Nevada Athletic Commission had approved a stock pair of red Everlast MX gloves.
The commission on Friday had ruled that a pair of custom blue Everlast MX gloves were invalid and couldn't be worn. Mayweather claimed there was no padding in the knuckles of those gloves.
"Al assured me this is over and we're going forward with the fight," Schaefer said.
Everlast CEO Neil Morton defended his company's manufacturing process for the boxing gloves and said he believes the dispute was simply a case of Mayweather seeking a psychological edge.
Morton said the custom gloves are manufactured exactly the same way as the stock gloves and the only difference is a different color of leather is used. He said he is willing to cut the gloves open to prove that to anyone who questions the validity of his claim. He said he didn't understand why the custom gloves were ruled invalid.  http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/dispute-over-choice-of-gloves-finally-ends--mayweather-maidana-fight-is-a-go-163329449.html
Maryweather still refuses to fight Manny Pacquiao and because of this, he is still a pansy.
Maidana threw almost 1000 punches in the fight and if he was just a little more accurate, he would have won the fight, if the fight was outside of Las Vegas.
But because the fight was held in Las Vegas, Nevada and used Nevada judges, you have to wonder if the outcome was accurate.
I hope Maryweather gives Maidana a rematch and gives a Pacquiano a fight.  if he does this and wins both matches, then I will give Maryweather some respect.
But Maryweather likes to fight defenseless security guards, gets involved in shootings at local roller skating rinks and sent to jail for hitting an ex-girlfriend and threatened two of his children.
Maryweather is a thug and should not be mentioned in the same breath as Ali, Frazier,Marciano, Foreman and other great fighters.

When Did We Declare On Yemen?

From the NY Daily News: Yemen's Al Qaeda branch says one of its local commanders has died from wounds he suffered during an attack by the Yemeni army and U.S. drones.
A Twitter account associated with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula issued a message saying Ali bin Likra al-Kazimy died Saturday after a military attack on one of its camps in the town of Mahfad last week.
Mahfad, where al-Kazimy was the leader, is located in a mountainous region in the country's south.
Government officials confirmed al-Kazimy's death.
The Yemeni army, backed by U.S. drone strikes and supported by local tribes, recently launched a campaign to drive Al Qaeda out of the southern provinces of Abyan and Shabwa.

So, where are the anti-war nuts? Why aren't they protesting Obama and his use of drones in a country where we have not declared war in?
If this was Bush, they would be picketing the White House daily and demand his impeachent, but because Obama is a liberal, they give him a pass.
The liberals have been neutered.

Cliven Bundy: Another Cause For You

From the San Fran Chronicle: It took about a half hour, but the California Highway Patrol managed to get a herd of as many as 50 goats out of the roadway near the Caldecott Tunnel on Highway 24.
"They are no longer in the roadway, I know we had two officers who got on scene, there might have been more," said Officer W. Ogilvie of CHP Operations in Oakland. The animal hazard report was logged on the westbound Highway 24 and Highway 13 connector at 5:43 p.m. and herd was removed within a half hour.   http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/CHP-officers-forced-to-herd-goats-off-Oakland-5451377.php
Meanwhile, no militia members were present to protect the goats from grazing on public property, even though the goat herder did not pay grazing fees to the CHP for grazing on local highways.

ObamaVille: 18 Shot While Obama Parties

From the Chicago Tribune: Twelve people across Chicago were shot in a 12-hour period starting about 11 a.m. Saturday after shootings Friday night into the morning left six people wounded.
The most recent shooting happened outside a South Side skating rink.
A male, whose age wasn’t available, was shot on 87th Street just east of Greenwood Avenue. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police blocked traffic while crowds cleared out and kids at the rink waited on rides home.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-man-in-good-condition-after-west-englewood-shooting-20140503,0,8262.story
Meanwhile, Obama was partying with his media lapdogs in Washington DC as his hometown becomes the shooting capitol of the world.
Jokes, partisan jabs fly at White House Correspondents' Dinner
Obama parties, people die.

Another Reason Why People Hate Government

From the Las Vegas Sun: The city of Reno is spending thousands of dollars sending firefighters to emergency medical certification training at out-of-state tourist destinations despite the fact the same training is offered in northern Nevada.
According to documents obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal, four firefighters also spent a week in Priest Lake, Idaho, for the same type of training this year. Each was reimbursed $1,200, the city's travel expense cap. Under city policy, firefighters cannot be reimbursed more than that amount for travel.
The training is necessary for the firefighters to maintain their emergency medical technician certifications, a requirement of their job.
Reno Finance Director Robert Chisel said his department will attempt to deny reimbursement for the Mexican Riviera cruise, but the department may have difficulty fighting it because a battalion chief pre-approved the travel...
Other training expenses include sending two battalion chiefs and two administrative personnel to Tampa, Florida, to learn how to use the computer program Excel for data analysis. Four other firefighters were sent to San Diego for a fire expo.
In 2013, the average Reno firefighter's total compensation was about $122,000, including salary and benefits, according to a Reno Gazette-Journal analysis....
Reno Fire Chief Michael Hernandez said there is little he can do to set limits on where firefighters go for training. "It's in their contract," he said.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/may/03/reno-firefighter-training-includes-mexican-cruise/
However, there is some karma: The expenses came to light as the city is preparing to lay off 35 firefighters because a federal grant application needed to pay for those positions fell through.
Shoot, you could send the the EMT down to Vegas, put him up a a casino hotel for $30 a night, 3 buffet meals a day for $25 and probably spend less than $200 for 5 days.
Just another example of public employees ripping off the taxpayer.
And people wonder why people hate the government and it's employees.
And $122,000 average salary and benefits for a hose jockey that doesn't require a Bachelor's degree?
I worked as a unpaid vounteer firefighter in North Dakota, going on 300 fire calls a year for free (that's fires not medcal calls).  That's more fire calls than the average Reno firefighter goes on in a year.
Just another reason people hate government.

Just Wondering

Yesterday, Friday, I spent most of the morning and afternoon in the St. Rose Hospital emergency with my daughter.  We went the first time at 7:00 in the morning with side pain and the doc said it's either the flu or a muscle injury.
Well, my daughter's pain got worse as the day went along and we brought her back and she was then diagnosed with having kidney stones and she was passing a stone...at the age of 16.
Even though the doctor mihgt have screwed up, I understand his thinking.
But what got me thinking was the forms we had to fill out.
There was this qestion;

Are you Hispanic or another race?

No questions if you were Asian.
No questions if you were Black.
No uestions if you were an Indian.
No questions if you were White.
Just asking if you were Hispanic.
Why?
I have no idea.

Stupid Wal-Mart Shoppers

Las Vegas Vampire

Now that is getting hot in Las Vegas, in the mid to upper 90's, people in Las Vegas and other local areas decide to act like vampires and only come out at night.
And they think it is such a good idea to their weekly/monthly grocery shopping between the hours of 10 PM and 12 midnight.
And they expect the same kind of service as if it were 5:00 in the afternoon.
These people are fricking idiots.
So, if they have a grocery basket full of groceries at 5:00, you have 6 cashiers, some of whom just started their shifts ready to help you.
If you come to a cashier at 11:00 at night, you will have 1 cashier to help you and they are at the end of their shift, so we are tired and cranky or you are going to deal with a night shift cashier who also has other jobs to do and they don't have the time to deal with you.
Here's a hint.  We don't want to see you if you have a grocery cart full of groceries after 10:00PM.
And with only 1 cashier on duty, you are going to piss off the people who happen to come behind you.
If you have less than 20 items, no problem, we can get you out of there in a couple of minutes.
I'm just being honest and it's not just at a Wal-Mart, it pretty much is true at any other store that is open late at night or a 24 hour store.
And speaking of idiots, the other night a guy came in and tried to use a coupon where you had to buy to bottles of Jim Beam and a Coke product to use a $5 coupon.
The guy just wanted to buy 1 Jim Beam product, so the coupon would not ring up and we engaged in a dispute.  The guy kept on saying that I was wrong and I tried to explain to the guy what the word "and" means.
So, after a couple of minutes, he came out and said "do you have a bachelors degree/"
Wrongo, Buckaroo, wrong question.
I told him "Why yes, I have a bachelors degree and almost a Masters degree, I teach Special Education and I teach people to read".
He didn't have a come back for that.
And I replied as he left, "Have a nice sir" sarcastically, at least in my mind, at least.

Umm, Congressman Horsford, You're Just A Congresscritter

Yeah, like he has any influence.
From the LVRJ:
U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford on Saturday called on Gov. Brian Sandoval, U.S. Sen. Dean Heller and the Clark County sheriff to take action to move militia members out of Bunkerville after hearing more complaints from residents about the armed supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy.
Horsford, D-Nev., said he spent the morning attending a mayor’s pancake breakfast in Mesquite, which is part of his 4th Congressional District. He said he was approached by residents, including a fifth-grader, who asked him, “What are you going to do to get the militia out?” of the area.
He said the girl also asked him why Bundy refused to pay his grazing fees to the Bureau of Land Management, which attempted to round up his cattle before halting the operation April 12 to avoid violence.
“She said, ‘He should just do what everybody else does and pay his share,’” Horsford said, telling the story to the Clark County Democratic Party convention at the Tropicana.
http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/horsford-tells-sheriff-sandoval-move-militia-out-bunkerville
Seriously, Horsford, a fith grader asked you that?  Let's see the video tape.  Does a 5th grader even know what a militia is?  They don't teach that in school, not by the 5th grade at least.  And she knows about paying their share?  I want to see this.
And then this: “I”m calling on Gov. Sandoval, Senator Dean Heller and the sheriff … to do their part to get rid of these armed separatists,” Horsford said, his voice rising. “They don’t belong in Bunkerville or any other part of our community.”
And what exactly is the law they are breaking?
Well then, why don't we tell the armed black gang members in Las Vegas who come from out of state to leave, even if they don't break any laws.
Why don't we tell the illegal immigrants from Mexico, Latin America, Africa and South America to leave Las Vegas.
You think Horsford would be in favor of this?
When running for election in 2012, I met Horsford and I thought he was a nice guy.  Even though he was a Democrat and a liberal, he didn't have devils horns and a pitch fork.
But obviously he isn't that smart either.

Not Stephen Horsford

Ummm, Hillary Was Right

I know Hillary Clinton got blasted for her comment:
Both Saltzgaver and a second fundraiser attendee, who requested to speak without attribution, described Clinton’s parallel between the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler, who resettled tens of thousands of ethnic Germans in Eastern and Central Europe to Nazi Germany before the war.
“She compared issuing Russian passports to Ukrainians with ties to Russia with early actions by Nazi Germany before Hitler began invading neighboring countries,” Saltzgaver said. “She said, however, that while that makes people nervous, there is no indication that Putin is as irrational as the instigator of World War II.”  http://www.buzzfeed.com/rubycramer/hillary-clinton-compares-russia-moves-to-nazi-aggression
We have this from The Independent UK: The Kremlin said yesterday it was receiving "thousands" of pleas for help from Ukraine, warning that it could not control pro-Russian separatists in the country and now required help to resolve the worsening violence.
Speaking in Moscow yesterday, Mr Peskov said: "People are calling in despair, asking for help. The overwhelming majority demand Russian help. All these calls are reported to [President] Vladimir Putin."
He made clear that the Russian government blamed the West for the worsening situation, while stressing the need for "dialogue" towards a peaceful resolution. "Kiev and its Western sponsors are practically provoking the bloodshed and bear direct responsibility for it. Those who recognise this junta as a legal power become an accomplice to this crime."
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-crisis-kremlin-insists-it-cannot-control-prorussian-separatists-and-calls-for-dialogue-with-west-9321412.html
If you follow history, Hitler invaded the different countries in the beginning of WWII because people of German heritage but living in different countries demanded/wanted German intervention to free them and allow them to be part of Germany again.
Well, that didn't work out so well and it ended up killing millions of people.
And now Russia is doing the same thing in the country Georgia, now Ukraine and who knows what will happen after Ukraine.
Is Putin a Hitler...doubtful.
But is his meddling in independent countries seems to indicate that he has the same kind of philosphy of Hitler when it comes to invading/interfering in other countries.
So, Hillary was right....for once.
But, a blind suirrel gets a nut once in awhile and a stopped clock is right 2 times a day, which, of course, is more times right than Clinton is.
Every now and then, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Agree or disagree?

Pawn Stars News

From the Las Vegas Sun: The Week in “Pawn Stars”: One fractured hand. One night of tribute hosted by the San Francisco Giants. One Las Vegas Strip show opening. One TV game show announced.
Otherwise, it’s been fairly staid for the crew at Gold & Silver Pawn.
Austin “Chumlee” Russell, who was a focal point in a story I wrote about reality TV shows that we published this Sunday on the cover of The Sunday, was honored by the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night. Chumlee is something of a Giants fan, though he allows, “I don’t know much about baseball.”...
And on the topic of turning an age, we have reported about Corey Harrison’s motorcycle spill just ahead of his birthday party Saturday (I scrawled of this on Twitter on Monday, and Ubiquitous Robin Leach imparted the info in blog form Tuesday). As he was heading to his 31st birthday party at Rick Harrison’s house, Corey laid down his 1947 Knucklehead Chopper, a custom-designed bike that is a favorite among motorcycle aficionados across the country.
The fender mounts snapped and the “sissy” bar at the back of the bike thrust forward and struck Harrison in the back. He wound up going tea-over-teakettle at 45 mph, breaking two bones in his right hand and suffering a hematoma on his back.
This all happened about 3 p.m., but Harrison didn’t visit the emergency room until after midnight. Why?
“I played until about midnight,” he said during a phone interview Monday. “It was painful, but I didn’t want to hold up the party.”...
Meantime in the Universe of the Pawn, the stage show “Pawn Shop Live!” has moved to the Riviera after opening months ago at Golden Nugget, and yet another project is in the offing: “Pawnography,” a TV game show featuring Chumlee, Corey and Rick. This brain brawl begins filming May 18 in Las Vegas. This show is to air in the summer, also on History, and is produced by “Pawn Stars” production outfit Leftfield Pictures.
The show’s concept, which I’d noted in March, is a trivia challenge in which contestants compete against Chumlee, Corey and Rick for prizes belonging to Rick culled from the Gold & Silver collection. Questions are incrementally more difficult as you climb that trivial ladder, which is why Rick is the final star to beat and Chumlee is … not.
An open call for contestants for the show has been announced for Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Circus Circus.   http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2014/apr/30/events-pawn-stars-result-some-hard-core-pawnograph/
It was also reported the show as signed a contract with the cast for 104 shows next year, so every week will have 2 new episodes.  Way too much for me to review or watch... I think.

Idiot

From the Dallas Morning News: President Barack Obama on Friday called the botched execution of an Oklahoma inmate “deeply troubling” and announced that he will ask the attorney general to analyze problems surrounding the application of the death penalty in the United States.
In his first public comments on the case of convicted murderer Clayton Lockett, the president, who formerly taught constitutional law, expressed conflicting feelings about the death penalty and said Americans need to “ask ourselves some difficult and profound questions around these issues.”
Obama said the death penalty is warranted in some cases, specifically mentioning mass murder and child murder, and said Lockett’s crimes were “heinous.” But he said the death penalty’s application in the United States is problematic, with evidence of racial bias and the exoneration of some death row inmates.  http://www.dallasnews.com/news/headlines/20140502-obama-seeks-analysis-of-death-penalty-in-u.s..ece
Oh, the crimes by the thug were "heinous".
Like what this dead thug to the poor woman:
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the death sentence given to convicted murderer Clayton Darrell Lockett, of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Lockett was convicted in August 2000 of the first degree murder of 19-year-old Stephanie Nieman. Lockett was also sentenced to more than 2,285 years in prison for associated non-capital crimes occurring that night, including assault with a dangerous weapon, burglary, first degree rape, and kidnapping.
A jury found that on June 3, 1999, Clayton Lockett and two co-conspirators, Shawn Mathis and Alfonso Lockett, broke into the Perry, Oklahoma, home of Bobby Bornt. They assaulted Bornt before burglarizing his home for drugs. While they were at Bornt's home, two 19-year-old women arrived. The men repeatedly raped and assaulted one woman, whose name is withheld as a victim of sexual assault, before loading Bornt, Bornt's 9-month-old son, Stephanie Nieman, and the other woman into Bornt's and Nieman's trucks and driving them to a rural location in Kay County.

Bornt testified that he heard Clayton Locket say, "Someone has got to go," before he put Nieman in a ditch dug by Shawn Mathis and shot her twice. He also testified to hearing the men laugh about "how tough [Nieman] was" when she did not die after the first shot.
Bornt and the other victim believe they were spared because they have children; however, both testified to hearing Lockett plan to kill them and take Bornt's infant son to either a shelter or Bornt's parents' house.
But then the thug president shows he doesn't give a crap about the victims of these thugs, just about the thugs.
Idiot.

Good...But Shocking

A liberal union says no to raising taxes?
Yep.
Shocking.
From the LVRJ: The Nevada State AFL-CIO on Friday voted to oppose the margins tax measure to fund public education that is on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
Also known as the Education Initiative, Question 3 would impose a 2 percent business “margins tax” designed to raise an estimated $700 million a year for public schools.
The measure is opposed by many Nevada businesses and elected officials, including Gov. Brian Sandoval. It was put on the ballot by the Nevada State Education Association, which represents teachers.
In a statement after a vote of delegates at a convention for the group’s Committee on Political Action, Danny Thompson, executive secretary treasurer, said: “The Nevada State AFL-CIO has always supported funding education to the National Average. There is no equivocation on our support for funding our schools so that our children receive a great education. We are a strong voice and advocate at every level of government for more funding for classrooms, teachers, and school buildings.
“The vote today in opposition to the margins tax initiative is not a vote against education,” he said. “It is a vote against a flawed initiative that will cost many of our members their jobs and raise the cost of living on Nevadans on a fixed income and on citizens that are still struggling to make ends meet after years of a terrible recession.”.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/politics/nevada-afl-cio-opposes-proposed-margins-tax-fund-public-schools
Hey, maybe the union can back to reality on other causes.
But I will take 1 victory at a time.

Chump Change Compared To Obama

From the NY Daily News:
When it comes to New Jersey’s state-owned helicopter fleet, Gov. Chris Christie is a frequent flyer.
Despite rides costing $2,500 an hour, Christie flew the state’s choppers 106 times in 2013, more than quadrupling his use from his first year in office.
Flight logs obtained by Bloomberg News through a New Jersey Open Public Records Act request show the governor’s has been flying high even as he imposes municipal budget constraints.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/nj-gov-christie-flying-high-tripled-helicopter-rides-article-1.1776080#ixzz30XX6bX1Z
And gee, what happened in late 2012?  A hurricane named Sandy.
Just another hit piece on Christie.
And how about Obama?  How many 10's of millions of dollars has he and Michelle spent traveling around the world on the taxpayer dime?

Sad Day For Alaske State Troopers

From the Fairbanks News Miner: Two Alaska State Troopers were killed Thursday afternoon in Tanana, according to a troopers news release.
One person has been detained in association with the killings.
The troopers were identified as Sgt. Patrick "Scott" Johnson and Trooper Gabriel "Gabe" Rich, both of the troopers' Fairbanks Rural Service Unit. Their next of kin have been notified.
Johnson and Rich were in Tanana, about 130 miles west of Fairbanks, following up on a report of someone brandishing a firearm the night before.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths are unknown. The trooper news release did not indicate whether gunfire was involved.
Ruby Cruger, who manages the village store, said the troopers were killed at her aunt's house on Front Street along the Yukon River at about 3 p.m. She said she was headed that way when she encountered one of her cousins and the Village Public Safety Officer running away.
"I wasn't too far from the house when it happened," she said. "I just got over and they were running when I got there."
As of Thursday evening, troopers had closed off Front Street at her aunt's house, Cruger said
News of the killings came as the village's Maudrey J. Sommer School was getting out, according to resident and former school superintendent Mary Edwin.
"Some of the kids were already released from school when the news got that far down the river," she said. "The school did lock down for the rest of the kids who were still there ... everybody was safe and we accounted for everybody."
Troopers were on the ground in Tanana investigating the incident by about 6 p.m. Another group from the troopers' Alaska Bureau of Investigation is headed to the community, according to troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.
Troopers are not releasing the name of the person who was detained because that person has not been charged, she said.
"We still have things we need to take care of, and I don't know if they're going to be able to arrest and charge the person or if the person that they have is simply detained for officer safety," Peters said.
Cruger said troopers detained another one of her cousins. The News-Miner is not identifying him because he has not been charged and troopers have not confirmed he is the person who has been detained. She said she doesn't know a motive for the killings.
Johnson and Rich are the 16th and 17th Alaska State Troopers killed in the line of duty, according to Peters. Two Village Public Safety Officers have also died on the job.
Gov. Sean Parnell was informed of the killings late Thursday afternoon, according to spokeswoman Sharon Leighow.
The governor's office issued a statement later in the evening.
“Sandy and I were deeply saddened to learn of the senseless, brutal crime that took the lives of two of Alaska’s finest,” Parnell said in the statement. “These fallen heroes answered the call to serve and protect, and made the ultimate sacrifice, while keeping our communities safe. May God and the loving support of grateful Alaskans bring comfort to the families of these courageous men, the public safety community, and all those impacted by this horrific act.”

Not sure if any of these troopers were ever filmed for the tv show "Alaska State Troopers".
A policeman's prayer:
The Police Officer's Prayer
to St. Michael

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

I'm Not Eating Chinese Tonight

Fromt he Chicago Tribune: A 26-year-old worker at a fortune cookie factor died of multiple blunt trauma injuries after falling into a dough-mixing machine at a factory in Houston over the weekend, a medical examiner's office said on Thursday.
The victim, Elmer Oscar Barrera, worked at the Houston branch of the Wonton Food company, and his death has been ruled an accident, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said.

Police had said the victim was found dead in the machine by a fellow worker on Sunday afternoon. Wonton Food is one of the biggest makers of fortune cookies in the United States.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-usa-cookie-texas-20140501,0,6462820.story
Reminds of the scene in the Naked Gun (movie) in wwhich the villian orders a hotdog, bites into it and comes up with a finger and ring in the dog.
So, here is a video of the fnniest moments of the Naked Gun (one of the funniest series movies of all times) movies in honor of the victim:

Stupid Las Vegas Government

From the Las Vegas Sun:
As ground is broken today on a privately funded arena on the Strip, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman remains adamant that a downtown stadium will be built and that both venues could be home to professional sports franchises.
Let's see... We have a privately funded arena that will seat 20,000 people. We also have the Thomas and Mack at UNLV, the Orleans, the Convention Center and more.
And the City of Las Vegas wants to spend taxpayer money on arena in the downtown area.
Stupidity in City of Las Vegas City government.
Maybe Mrs. Goodman has been drinking Oscar Goodman's martini's.

Umm, Don't Push You're Luck

You don't want to awake a pissed off tiger.
From the Las vegas Sun: Cliven Bundy’s family is urging his supporters to gather at Metro Police’s downtown headquarters at 10 a.m. Friday to file criminal complaints against the Bureau of Land Management, according to the family’s Facebook page.
“It's CRIMINAL COMPLAINT TIME,” the family wrote. “We believe that the BLM acted illegally. We have decided to file reports at the Sheriff's Office. Together we can take real action!!”
Officer Jesse Roybal, a Metro Police spokesman, said his office didn’t know about the protest and couldn’t comment. He didn’t know if anyone in the office had been notified or if the department was planning a response. Roybal did say the sheriff has and will continue to work with both sides.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/may/01/cliven-bundys-family-calls-gathering-friday-metro-/
If I could give advice to Bundy, I would say you won round one but don't push it too much further, otherwise, you will lose your what little support you have and you will wake up a sleeping tiger waiting to pounce on Bundy.
They should listen to this song:

I Know That Feeling

From Madison.com: A Walmart employee told a man demanding money he had none, ending a robbery attempt on the city's West Side last week as the suspect fled the store with nothing.
Police found the suspect and a female accomplice through surveillance video and arrested them on Wednesday.
Nathan Pahl, 26, Madison, and Lindsay Brey, 22, Madison, were tentative charged with attempted robbery, Madison police said in a news release.
The attempted robbery happened on April 25 at about 12:30 p.m. at Walmart, 7202 Watts Road.
Police said:
Brey allegedly drove Pahl to Walmart that day, with Pahl going into the store and handing a note to an employee.
"He claimed to have a gun and demanded money," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "The employee told the suspect he had no money so the suspect fled."

A Wal-Mart employee with no cash on them?   Shocking.
If you are going to rob someone, an employee from Wal-Mart probably is not going to give you a whle lot of cash, compared to say, smeone who works at a bank... or a government employee.

A Thug Is A Thug IsA Thug

From ESPN: Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been indicted in an alleged jail assault in February and an alleged threat at the jail last November.
The Bristol County district attorney's office said Hernandez was indicted Thursday on charges of assault and battery and threats to do bodily harm. The statement said the alleged assault occurred Feb. 25 at the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, and the alleged threat occurred there on Nov. 1.
The February scuffle allegedly occurred when an inmate was being transported from the jail's infirmary. The man, identified as Andrew Booker, and Hernandez allegedly exchanged words. Hernandez allegedly punched Booker and knocked him to the ground. Neither was injured....
The threats made on Nov. 1 reportedly involve Hernandez allegedly threatening to shoot and kill a guard at the Bristol County jail after the guard blew the whistle on his schemes to try to get extra food from his jailers.
http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/10869136/aaron-hernandez-indicted-alleged-assault-threat
My guess the thug will spending a long, long time in prison and jail.

Let's Get Rid Of The Rest Of Them

From ESPN: The president of the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP resigned Thursday, following outrage over a decision he later reversed to give Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling an award for promoting civil rights.
Leon Jenkins was to honor Sterling later this month, but rescinded that offer Monday after a recording surfaced over the weekend on which Sterling disparaged black men.
In a letter to the national leader of the nation's oldest civil rights organization, Jenkins wrote that he resigned "to separate the Los Angeles NAACP and the NAACP from the negative exposure I have caused."  http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/10870520/president-local-naacp-chapter-resigns-donald-sterling-award-decision
Now, if they can get everyone else in the racist NAACP to quit, along with Al Sharpton and Jesse "Hymie Town" Jackson, President Obama and Eric Holder then maybe race relations can improve.

Say What?

This leaves me head scratching.
From the San Fran Chronicle: The secrecy-shrouded, botched execution in Oklahoma on Tuesday couldn't happen the same way in California, where state laws and regulations require public disclosure of the drugs used in lethal injections, where they come from and how they are administered....
California has also encountered the nationwide shortage of lethal drugs that led to the debacle in Oklahoma, where a prisoner writhed in pain on the execution table, and died 40 minutes later of heart failure. He had been injected with an untested combination of chemicals whose source was concealed by prison officials.  http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Oklahoma-execution-nightmare-shines-light-on-5443768.php
Ummm, just wondering how you test the drugs for human execution?
Any volunteers?
