Trevor Hoffman got his 600 save tonight as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2.

I used to go to a lot of Brewer games, since their first year, up until about 7 years ago. Got to see Hank Aaron and other famous Brewers. I also got to see Rollie Fingers, another great reliever. Just wish I got to see Hoffman when he was with the Brewers, as this will be his last year.
Just think about it. Most major leaguers have never experienced 600 wins in their careers, let alone pitched in 600 wins.

Fact: Harry Reid shut down Yucca Mountain. Thousands of jobs lost there.
Harry Reid shut down two power plants in Northern Nevada.
Both power plants put together is close to about 8,000 jobs lost directly because of Harry Reid and no one else.
Then you have the auto bailouts that cost thousands of employees at car dealerships in the Valley and around the state their jobs, along with the supporting businesses like auto part company jobs.
Harry brags that he saved City Center, but when City Center opened that also cost jobs in the area at other casinos because of the business City Center stole from other casinos.
Then you include the policies of the Democrats that have caused the private sector from hiring more people. Obama Care, largest tax increase in the country's history a few weeks away, increasing regulation, the failed stimulus and the illegals. This is preventing private sector employers from expanding or even maintaining their work force.
Then Reid says this: "I don't have any hand in what took place during the Bush administration. I tried to rein that in," Reid said. Uhh, Harry, who was the Senate Majority for the last two years of the Bush Administration? Harry, that would be you. You controlled the laws that passed the Senate. That's History 101. Just ask Dina Titus, PhD and political science professor.
As far as the foreclosure, I don't totally blame Reid because there was blame to go all around, but it cannot be argued that the policies of Congress contributed to the foreclosure crisis.
First Harry says illegals are not working in the construction business in Las Vegas and now says he had no part in job loss in Nevada. Harry, it's time to retire to the nursing home. When I worked in nursing homes, I had more seniors there with more common sense than you.

Pawn Stars Review: September 6, 2010
A beautiful Labor Day day in Las Vegas today, with the temperature of about 96 degrees, no humidity and little wind, it was a very nice day to BBQ, picnic, swim or go for a walk. (for those interested, those of us who live in Vegas rarely go down to the Strip, unless it is to see a show or go to work)
So, two new episodes of Pawn Stars:
In the first episode, the first guy brought in brought in a double barrel and rifle. The rifle had two different caliber shots (bullets) and it was a black powder gun. It was made in Germany in the 1850's. The handgun was also from the 1830's. The guy wanted about $6000 and it sold for $3850. Sean is going to check it out after it was sold. Sean said the total worth was about $7500. The handgun could not be shot because it was dangerous, but they were able to shoot the rifle. Chumlee shot the rifle and he shot the nose and and the kill zone of a paper buffalo.
The next guy brought in some art work/proofs. They were Steve Kaufman lithographs, but they were not in good shape. They were torn and rolled up. Rick didn't offer, but Cory offered $100 and it was a deal. There was supposed to be a storyline there, but it never materialized.
The next guy brought in a 4 string Martin guitar from the 1930's. It was not in good shape. It was missing the strings and the bridge, to begin with. The guy wanted $5000 and Rick offered $2000 and then $2500 and it was a deal.
The next guy brought in Freddy Krueger dolls. Who would buy that for their kids? The dolls were signed by the star of the movies. The Old Man offered $40 for both and he got $50.
A guy brought in a 1921 Dom Perignon bottle of champagne. It was the first year that Dom Perignon came out. Rick thought the champagne would be horrible to drink because it was not cold and was stood up on it's bottom. Time for an expert, Jeff, an owner of a wine shop in Vegas. He said the wine was worthless and $1000 for the bottle. So, no sale per Rick.

The next woman brought in a black widow brooch, some jewelry. It was a Faberge piece of jewelry. She wanted $2000 and Rick offered $15,000 and she countered with $17,000 and Rick stayed firm. The lady was very, very greedy.
Rick and Chum went to a house to see a Buick Skylark. My dad used have a Buick Skylark when I was a kid. Wow. They say it was a muscle car. Huh? Not when I was growing up. To me, it was just a car that ran. The owner redid the engine, as it was not the original engine. The body wasn't great.The guy wanted $5,500 and Corey offered $3000 and that was the deal. They had to do some refurbishing. When it was finished, the body looked very nice and it was a satin black. It cost about $7000 to refurbish for a $10,000 investment. I just don't see that happening in this economy.
The next guy brought in a Civil War field's officer's desk. It was in the guy's family since 1861. They also had some documents and a ledger from the war. Time from Mark from the Clark County Museum. Mark came in and was very impressed. Chumlee acted like a complete ass in this part. The guy wanted $150,000 for it. The Old Man offered $3000. That's a huge difference. There was no sale.
Corey and rick went to a guy's house for a pump organ from Sears from 1902. The guy wanted $700 but Rick offered $250. It went for $250. How the two got the organ into the truck, I'll never know.
Thus ends another day in Las Vegas and it is now time to walk the hounds. Have a nice week.

My Choice For #1 In NCAA Football
Can anybody consider anybody else other than Boise State as the number 1 football team in NCAA football? The last time Boise State lost a football game was December 23, 2008 to TCU, 17-16. In 2008, they had a perfect regular season and in 2007, they had another perfect season and defeated Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
No one comes close and no one should be considered to be #1, except Boise State.

Obama Proposes $50,000,000,000 Stimulus: Numbers Don't Add Up
Today, President Obama went to the city that I grew up in, Milwaukee and proposed a $50,000,000,000 stimulus over 6 years.
From jsonline: "Over the next six years, we are going to rebuild 150,000 miles of our roads - enough to circle the world six times," Obama told audience of rank-and-file labor union members.
"We're going to lay and maintain 4,000 miles of our railways - enough to stretch coast-to-coast. We're going to restore 150 miles of runways and advance a next generation air-traffic control system to reduce travel time and delays for American travelers."

First, to do what Obama proposes will not happen on $50,000,000,000.

Construct a new 4-lane highway -- $4-$6 million per mile in rural and suburban areas, $8-$10 million per mile in urban areas.
Construct a new 6-lane Interstate highway - about $7 million per mile in rural areas, $12 million or more per mile in urban areas.
Mill and resurface a 4-lane road - about $1.25 million per mile.
Expand an Interstate Highway from 4 lanes to 6 lanes - about $4 million per mile.

From the Las Vegas Sun: "The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon raised $58,919,838 from this year's Labor Day event.
The 45th annual event brought in about $1.5 million less than last year. This was the fifth consecutive year the show has originated from the South Point Hotel and Casino.
The event reaches about 40 million viewers on about 180 TV stations (broadcast locally on KTNV Channel 13).
The money raised will allow the MDA to keep funding worldwide research to find treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and related diseases. Contributions also provide assistance with the purchase of equipment such as wheelchairs, send thousands of children to MDA summer camp and support about 200 MDA clinics across the country."

While I have some minor issues about the telethon (I believe the kids are somewhat exploited and made to look worse off than they really are) I am glad he continues to do this telethon.

Update On The Airplane Crash Near Henderson
Today, there was an airplane crash near Henderson this morning.
By the comments in the Las Vegas Sun, it appears that the pilot was the one killed in the crash.

This was an experienced pilot who'd flown this plane many, many times. I don't think he lost control, as put it down on a street. I thank everyone who aided these people. This man was not a hot shot risk taker. He was taking his wife on a trip because this month is a hard month for her. Her Iraq veteran son died one year ago in a car accident in CA when he was on leave. I believe he saved his passengers and the residents of the neighborhood did too. They're all regular hard working Joes, & I bet the neighbors are too. If you knew how hard he worked to put himself through university & how many hours he's worked building up a list of clients. If you only knew how hard he worked for those clients, what a good, decent man he was. I pray the others are able to return home soon. I sure wish he'd survived 'cause we're gonna miss him. Thanks for the comments of support. Please pray for the recovery of the others. Thank you to all who have worked to save these people.

From KLAS, Channel 8: Sutton rushed to the scene to help the victims. He said the plane ended up on its roof and two of the people in the plane were out of the plane sitting in someone's yard. He said both had suffered severe burns.
He and other residents doused the flames with hoses and then flipped the upside down plane over and attempted to help the two other victims who were trapped.

It's a good thing that the people who live on the block rushed to the airplane's aide right away. That is a good thing about Las Vegas, in 99.9% of the neighborhood. They will help out strangers in a time of need such as this every time and without hesitation, if it is possible. To the neighbors, they are true heroes because they did not know if the plane would have exploded, but they went to the plane and put out the flames before the fire department arrived with garden hoses and fire extinguishers.
R.I.P to the pilot and good luck to the survivors. And thanks to the neighbors for the rescue work.
Another Reason Why Tax Revenues Are Diminishing
Well, it's a nice day to relax and browse the Internet. I ran across the Clark County Assessor's web site and I was curious about how the economy has effected how much money the County collects from the different taxable land. What I saw shocked me.
For instance, the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop (Pawn Stars) had an assessed value $936,823 last year and now has an assessed value of $353,120, or about 60% drop in value.
At the 7-11 down the street from the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, the assessed value last year was $3,343,538 and now has an assessed value of $896,054, a drop of about 73%.
Treasure Island Casino last year had an assessed value of $636,123,848 and now has a value of $339,068,517, a drop of almost $300,000,000 in one year.
The Sarah Casino went from $389,911,485 last year to $34,940,000 or over a 90% decrease in property values.
The LVRJ went from $1,607,003 to 986303 or close to about 40% drop.
But the Las Vegas Sun went from $26,389,300 to $28,165,583, so they are paying more in taxes. Good for them, liberals should practice what they preach by paying more in taxes.

This is what is going to cause of government budget crisis in the months and years to come. Yes, government can cut back and you will be able to save some money, but it won't make up for the loss of property tax revenue. Not even close.
So, what can we do? We are pretty much done building and the property values are not going up any time soon and more than likely, still come down. Sales tax receipts has been down for the last few years. You can only cut so much from government and while there is some waste in state and local government, but most of it already has been eliminated. Both major candidates for governor already said they are not going to raise taxes. A legislator threw up a trial balloon about taxing food, but that was thrown back into his face.
So, what else can we do? At this point, I am not sure.

Happy Labor Day (Or Is It Really Happy)
Today is Labor Day and many people are taking the day off (at least those who work in government) and having BBQ's or going swimming. Some will picnic in the mountains while others will be at work.
But is it a happy Labor Day in Las Vegas?
The unemployment rate is about 14.6% in Nevada, but the number is much higher when you include those who stopped looking for work or are under employed.
There thousands of homes in the valley that have been foreclosed on or in the process of being foreclosed on. The homes for sale, if they are bought, are being bought by investors with cash and are sitting empty, if they cannot be rented. This is killing neighborhoods.
People are leaving Las Vegas in droves. We may be getting slightly more visitors, but it is the locals that drive this economy in areas other than the Strip. Fewer locals mean fewer businesses and lower tax revenue.
Our local and state governments are running out of cash. One reason is that fewer tax dollars are rolling in and the other is the huge expenses local government has. One good thing about this is that the local and state governments are starting to get the message, with the exception of CCSD and higher education- they are still on a spending spree. Of course, the government employee unions don't get it, like the CCFD firefighter's union- they are still doing a Paris Hilton imitation- being a blonde bimbo and snorting cocaine while denying that they are not the problem.
The nation is only a few months away from the largest tax hike in our history and the Democrats are gleeful that more of us will be losing more money. They say hooray, the rich are going to be taxed higher along with companies. Oh, wait, the rich and their companies will just pass those tax increases on to us peons.
Harry Reid probably thought that the stimulus bill would work and I think he was sincere about it, but it has failed and he won't admit it. Instead, he is putting all his money on green energy, which is turning out to be a fraud at the taxpayer expense. The green energy companies take all the tax money and cheap land, put up very little of their own, make huge promises about employment and then nothing happens. We see this all over the country.
The private sector is not hiring very much- they are sitting on their cash to see what happens in November. Because of higher health insurance costs caused by Obama Care, higher taxes, more regulation, higher energy costs and perhaps higher costs to employ a person, private business just isn't hiring.
It's not all the Democrats fault, but they do own the economy and currently have Congress and the White House, so, yes, a large amount of blame goes to them. I will concede that Bush didn't help much, but the Dem's are making a bad situation worse. Bush inherited a recession when he too office and then 9/11 took place, a double whammy in the economy, but within years, through tax cuts and less regulation, the economy soared to new heights and it can happen again, when the Democrats get out of the way. (yes, that is being simplistic, but you cannot argue with the success)
So, is this a happy Labor Day? If you are a government worker, probably. In the private sector? Not so much.
But is it a happy Labor Day in Las Vegas?
The unemployment rate is about 14.6% in Nevada, but the number is much higher when you include those who stopped looking for work or are under employed.
There thousands of homes in the valley that have been foreclosed on or in the process of being foreclosed on. The homes for sale, if they are bought, are being bought by investors with cash and are sitting empty, if they cannot be rented. This is killing neighborhoods.
People are leaving Las Vegas in droves. We may be getting slightly more visitors, but it is the locals that drive this economy in areas other than the Strip. Fewer locals mean fewer businesses and lower tax revenue.
Our local and state governments are running out of cash. One reason is that fewer tax dollars are rolling in and the other is the huge expenses local government has. One good thing about this is that the local and state governments are starting to get the message, with the exception of CCSD and higher education- they are still on a spending spree. Of course, the government employee unions don't get it, like the CCFD firefighter's union- they are still doing a Paris Hilton imitation- being a blonde bimbo and snorting cocaine while denying that they are not the problem.
The nation is only a few months away from the largest tax hike in our history and the Democrats are gleeful that more of us will be losing more money. They say hooray, the rich are going to be taxed higher along with companies. Oh, wait, the rich and their companies will just pass those tax increases on to us peons.
Harry Reid probably thought that the stimulus bill would work and I think he was sincere about it, but it has failed and he won't admit it. Instead, he is putting all his money on green energy, which is turning out to be a fraud at the taxpayer expense. The green energy companies take all the tax money and cheap land, put up very little of their own, make huge promises about employment and then nothing happens. We see this all over the country.
The private sector is not hiring very much- they are sitting on their cash to see what happens in November. Because of higher health insurance costs caused by Obama Care, higher taxes, more regulation, higher energy costs and perhaps higher costs to employ a person, private business just isn't hiring.
It's not all the Democrats fault, but they do own the economy and currently have Congress and the White House, so, yes, a large amount of blame goes to them. I will concede that Bush didn't help much, but the Dem's are making a bad situation worse. Airplane Crash In Valley
A small airplane has crashed in the Southeast part of the Valley.
Per KXNT news, a plane took off from the Henderson Airport and the pilot told the control tower that it had trouble maintaining elevation. The plane came down in populated area, by some houses. Neighbors tried to rescue the people on board and put out the fire with garden hoses. At this time, there is one person dead and 3 injured.
From the Las Vegas Sun: "Metro Police Lt. Joe Ojeda, with the police air support search and rescue team, said the four-seater Piper aircraft took off from Henderson Executive Airport. After what started as a routine takeoff, the plane lost power, he said.
"They went down very quickly," Ojeda said.
The plane appeared to have been attempting to land on the street, Ojeda said.
The passengers were two men and two women in their late 30s to mid 40s, he said. One of the male passengers was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Siena Campus, where he died. The other passengers had "extensive injuries" and burns, Ojeda said. No one on the ground was injured."

Harry reid Has Spent Over $17,000,000 For Re-Election?
According to the FEC, Harry Reid has had over $17,000,000 in expenses since January 2009 through June of 2010.

I Don't Care, "But The Sound Of Music" Is Still One Of The Best Movies Ever
ABC Family is running a marathon of "The Sound Of Music". It was the first movie I ever saw in a theater, when I was about 4 or 5 years old and I have loved the movie ever since.
Great acting, good story and good music. You don't need violence or viulgar language to make a good movie. No wonder the movie is a classic.

Breaking News: Another Police Shooting
According to Channel 3 and 8, there was another Metro police shooting, by Desert Inn and Sandhill Rds. Apparently, the cops went to a house for a domestic dispute and a man came to the door with a shotgun. The cops ordered the guy to drop the shotgun. The man refused and instead pointed the gun at the officers who then shot him. The man with the shotgun was shot and transported to Sunrise Trauma.
This about the 18th police shooting this year, give or take a couple.

This morning the 2010 NFL bar list came out today in the LVRJ.

The Green Bay Packers have several bars. The include the Rum Runner bars on E. Tropicana, Boulder Highway and E. Desert Inn. We go to the one on Boulder Highway because of the Wings and good beer specials, especially if you join the Packer backer club.
Timbers on E. Lake Mead, near Hollywood is another Packer bar, along with Big Dogs on Rancho and Craig and Jackson's Bar and Grill on West Flamingo and Jones.
The Chicago Bears have 11 bars represented while the Cowboys only have 3 bars. Even the Detroit Lions have a bar, Meatheads on Decatur and Charleston.

The text read, "Hey Dawg, do you have a $20 I can buy right now?"
Dutton told the Helena Independent Record he initially thought it was a joke, but he quickly realized it was a real request for drugs. He responded to the text, and a detective pretending to be the dealer organized a meeting with the boy last Wednesday."

Review: Wisconsinite Frank Caliendo
Frank Caliendo is one of the best impressionists in the country and the lovely Cathy and myself went to see him to night at the Monte Carlo Casino.
Caliendo grew up in Waukesha and went to Waukesha South H.S. and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his show showed the Midwestern flair. Everyone from Wisconsin knows the Chicken Dance song, it's almost the official song of Wisconsin and the song was played several times during the show. There were other Wisconsin references, including a small polka. However, the show is more sophisticated than that.
The night started with a 4 piece band and I think the name of the band was the Blazing Saddles, but they were given different names throughout the show. The band was good and is much better than elevator music you hear before many of the shows on the Strip and elsewhere.
Caliendo came out and started making his impressions of the presidents, Bush and Clinton. He tried Obama, but hey, Obama is tough to do- Obama doesn't have much of an unusual voice.
I loved the John Madden impression and my favorite was when Madden would change counting to one, two, three, Favre, five six...
He also does a mean Charles Barkely, Andy Rooney and a cast of characters.
His hand impression were very good and funny. His interactions with the audience was genuine and his handling of some people who wanted to hear themselves instead of Caliendo was classic. His interactions with the band were more staged but it seemed like there were some impromptu interactions.
The show is kid friendly and Caliendo did not use any foul or suggestive language and kids can go to his show.

Currently, Caliendo can be seen at the Monte Carlo Thursday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesdays off. Right now, his shows are at 7:30 on Sunday and Monday and 9:30 on Thur,, Fri, and Sat.
Starting on September 23, his shows will change to Tu-Sat and the shows are at 7:30.

Badgers 41 UNLV 21: UNLV Covers The Spread
Tonight, the Wisconsin Badgers beat the UNLV Rebels, 41-21 and the Rebels covered the spread of 20.5 points, depending on where you bet. You can't say that the Vegas odds makers don't know their craft. (actually, I predicted it as well, but a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in awhile.) The game wasn't that close, but two good defensive plays by the Rebels kept the score close in the first half.

Nevada Governor Candidate Makes Fox News
Today a candidate for governor for Nevada made it big time on Fox News. No, it's not Brian Sadoval or Rory No Last Name. It's Gino DeSimone and he proposes to let drivers drive as fast as 90 mph on the rural highways, for a fee.
From Fox News: "Nonpartisan candidate "Gino" DiSimone believes people would pay for the privilege to drive up to 90 mph on designated highways -- and fill the state's depleted coffers.
DiSimone calls his idea the "free limit plan." He estimates the plan would bring in $1 billion a year.
First, vehicles would have to pass a safety inspection. Then vehicle information would be loaded into a database, and motorists would purchase a transponder."

Of course, the NHP is against this because it actually lose money. DeSimone proposes a $25 fee per day. A speeding ticket can cost up to $150 or more. They also think that it will cause more accidents. I doubt that because people will concentrate more on the road and they will get to the destination quicker and won't be as tired. And it won't raise $1 billion a year. Must be a typo.
In Nevada, it is very boring driving. For Wisconsin people, think of driving Milwaukee to Superior and never going through a town more than 5,000 people and most towns are 50-100 miles apart.

True Heroes Today At Arizona Charlies
Today, a man walked into Arizona Charlies with a supposed bomb that was strapped to his chest.
From the Las Vegas Sun: "The incident began about 9:30 a.m. when a man walked into the front door of the casino at 4575 Boulder Highway, went over to the security desk and lifted his shirt, showing a security guard what he said was an explosive device, Sheahan said.
Security officers then called Metro and escorted the man out the north entrance of the casino, Sheahan said.
Metro officers handcuffed the man, then backed away until they could get help, he said."

But the security guards at Arizona Charlies walked the guy to the door. Metro officers arrived and handcuffed the suspect. They did this not knowing whether the bomb was a fake or not and knowing that the bomb could have gone off at anytime, killing them.
Fortunately, the bomb was a fake, but no one knew it at the time.
So, to the security at Arizona Charlies and the first arriving officers, you are true heroes and job well done.

With Sharron Angle being sued for copyright infringement and Harry Reid posting full articles from the Las Vegas Sun, do other politicians have to worry about copyright laws. I've checked a few sites and the answer is probably no.

An extra in the new movie, Transformers 3 was seriously injured while shooting the film in Hammond, IN.
From CBS2 Chicago: "The woman, Gabriela V. Cedillo, 24, of Chicago was injured Wednesday night, according to an Indiana State Police release.Gabriela Cedillo's mother and brother spoke to CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot off camera. They said Cedillo got out of surgery Thursday afternoon, after doctors had been operating on her head. Her mother says she is in stable condition, following that surgery....
Indiana State Police say Cedillo was driving her own car during the filming of a stunt. She was among many other drivers in the scene. A metal object hit Cedillo's car, then flew through her windshield, hitting her in the head. Cedillo's 2006 Toyota then sped away, hitting an inner median concrete barrier wall. The 24-year-old's car traveled for about a mile, before stopping. The vehicle had extensive damage to the driver's side.Police say Cedillo was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, with a serious head injury."

MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon Open ToThe Public
In years past, the Jerry Lewis Telethon for MDA at the South Point has not been open to the public, but this year it is open and the admission is free.

Harry Reid Violates Copyrite Laws Also
Sharron Angle has been hit with a lawsuit about copyrite infringement lawsuit by Righthaven. Fair enough, but before Harry Reid goes off all hog wild and starts to laugh at Angle, he better watch out.

Fatal Accident Closes Down I-15 For 5 Hours?
This evening, there was fatal accident by the I-15, and the NHP closed down the Interstate for 5 hours to investigate the accident.

Apparently the highway patrol doesn't know that at 6:00 and on Labor Day weekend, but there is a lot of traffic at that time.
I understand the need to investigate the accident, especially a fatal accident, but to close down the major Interstate for 5 hours is just stupid. They could have opened up the far right lanes, since the accident happened in the left lane.
It's time for the NHP to grow up and do their job and think of the big picture. It's not all about them, it's also about the other motorists on the road.
And to investigate an accident for 5 hours is outrageous. Maybe they need to some new traffic investigators who actually know what they are doing.

Well, this will be interesting, Sharron Angle and her web site is being sued by the conservative, but despicable Righthaven and the LVRJ for posting LVRJ stories on her web site. Righthaven is seeking $75,000 and the forfeiture of the domain name.

Wisconsin Rapids Police Officer Shooting Caught On Tape
Wisconsin Rapids, my home town, had a police shooting last month. A 16 year old thug attacked a police officer with a knife and the officers shot and wounded the thug.

Pawn Star's Pawn Shop Accepted Stolen Merchendise
The Gold and Silver Pawn, home of the Pawn stars, shop was mentioned in a criminal complaint in which stolen merchandise was pawned at their store.

Las Vegas Blvd. Hover is to be arraigned for those charges Tuesday before Judge Jackie Glass.
The arrest report said police officers investigating the burglary decided there was a possibility that Hover, a legal process server for Junes Legal Service, was going back the the same residences where he served paperwork, and was breaking into them.
Police said they did a record check of the pawn stores and found Hover had an extensive amount of property he had been pawning at multiple stores in the area.

A elementary school principal and office manager (different schools) were busted for meth and pot yesterday.
The office manager foolishly took the meth to his school and it fell out of his pocket and was found by another clerk. Police were then called.
From the Las Vegas Sun: According to Rodriquez’s arrest report, police were called to Simmons Elementary after the school clerk found a plastic bag with a white crystal substance near the copy machine.
Police said the substance tested positive for methamphetamine. This was the second time drugs were found in the school office; a similar substance was found months earlier in a magazine on the office manager’s desk, police said.
The Principal, Leroy Espinoza, was arrested at his home: Police then went to Rodriquez’s home, where they met Espinosa, who gave them permission to search the house and his car, according to Espinosa’s arrest report.
Officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the house and methamphetamine in Espinosa’s car, the report says.

What's A Million Dollar A Month Mortgage Payment?
Well, Tiger Woods is building a $54,000,000 mansion in Jupiter Hills, FL. He wants to pay off the mortgage by January 2016, which means a $1 million payment a month.

Sports (via Waggle Room), Woods has taken out a $54.5 million mortgage for a brand-new mansion he's building on Jupiter Island, Fla. And no "go-for-the-adjustable-rate-and-pray" route for Tiger; no, he intends to pay back the loan by Jan. 15, 2016. (See, folks? That's sound financial strategy. If you've got a spare $54 million lying around, go ahead and get your mortgage paid off.)...
Woods' estate spans three properties and will include all the requisite perks for someone of Woods' stature -- pools, tennis courts, fitness center, miles of hallways. That'll cost plenty to buy and maintain, so obviously Woods has faith that he'll play well in a few golf tournaments between now and 2016.

My guess is that Woods plans on playing for a very long time. He still has to pay those nasty taxes and if he has workers at the house, he will have to pay for those people as well.
The way he is playing, I hope he plans on playing a lot of tournaments. Right now, he is not making $1,000,000 a month playing golf and I doubt he is making that much in endorsements. At least not yet.
I hope he does succeed. It's always good to see someone succeed, even though he is a wife cheater, he deserves a second chance.

Woods' estate spans three properties and will include all the requisite perks for someone of Woods' stature -- pools, tennis courts, fitness center, miles of hallways. That'll cost plenty to buy and maintain, so obviously Woods has faith that he'll play well in a few golf tournaments between now and 2016.

My guess is that Woods plans on playing for a very long time. He still has to pay those nasty taxes and if he has workers at the house, he will have to pay for those people as well.
The way he is playing, I hope he plans on playing a lot of tournaments. Right now, he is not making $1,000,000 a month playing golf and I doubt he is making that much in endorsements. At least not yet.
I hope he does succeed. It's always good to see someone succeed, even though he is a wife cheater, he deserves a second chance.
School Vouchers In Clark County Schools: No
There has much talk, especially in conservative circles in Nevada, about having vouchers in the state of Nevada and Clark County in particular. As a conservative, I support vouchers, but in this case, I do not.
As an aside, I am a CCSD teacher, but any voucher program would not effect me, as I am a teacher of severely disabled students and there is no private school that would take my students.
In general, I support competition in schools and I think anybody should be able to go to whatever school they want to go to, using a voucher. This is especially true with minorities living in a inner city area. I support vouchers in Milwaukee, where I was a teacher and in Washington D.C., where the liberals in Congress kicked a bunch of minority kids out of private schools and into the pig stye of school district, the D.C. school district. (thanks Harry, Shelly and Dina for sticking up for those kids- not)
In Clark County, we have a different situation. first, our school district is not that bad for an urban school that is very large. CCSD made AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) this past year, one of the very few large school districts that actually made AYP. For those students who attend school and are not trouble makers, those kids will generally get a very good education. If they want it. Granted, not every school is perfect and there are bad teachers and administrators in the district, but the vast majority of teachers and employees are very good.
Next, and this is my biggest opposition to the voucher program in Clark County, is that there are not enough seats in the private school sector that can accept thousands of students in a voucher program.
Clark County has very few religious schools. Heck, in the county where I used to live, Wood County in Wisconsin,- population about 40,000, they had more Catholic Schools and Lutheran schools than they do in all of Clark County. Clark County just does not have the number of private schools to serve a voucher population.
Of course, the alternative is that a bunch of private schools might spring up. In Milwaukee, this happened, and all they were was some schools in a strip mall or a run down building in the inner city. The "principals" of these schools were just after the money that the state would throw at them. Don't get me wrong, the existing schools, that had a good history, did a good job and most of those students in those schools did a good job and improved their behavior and their test scores. But the difference between Clark County and Milwaukee is that the school district in Milwaukee really, really sucks and still do and CCSD does not. Also, in Milwaukee, they had a large number of private schools in existence that could take voucher students and Clark County does not.
CCSD needs to improve, I have no question about that, but it is not a very horrible school district like Milwaukee and Washington D.C. and they need to have room for voucher students to make a voucher program successful. Clark County private schools do not have the space for voucher students.

Why Don't The Fed's Nationalize Arizona?
So, far, the federal government, with the approval of President Obama and Harry Reid have filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Joe Arpaio. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/09/02/justice-dept-sues-arizona-sheriff-civil-rights-probe/ This is in conjunction with the two previous lawsuits against the state of Arizona and against a local school district. Also take in to account that there are parts of Arizona that are basically off limits to locals and visitors because it has been over run with illegals and drug and human smugglers. Most of the rural land is owned by the BLM, so they already have a head start.

Darwin Award Winner: That Woman Ain't No Santa Claus
This person may be the 2010 Darwin Award winner. From Yahoo News: A doctor whose decomposing body was found in the narrow chimney of her boyfriend's house died of asphyxiation when her lungs couldn't expand to breathe, authorities said Wednesday.
Dr. Jacquelyn Kotarac was trapped while trying to get into the Bakersfield home on Aug. 25, police said.
"The pressure being placed on the chest wouldn't allow her lungs to expand and she suffocated," Kern County sheriff-coroner spokesman Ray Pruitt said about the autopsy....
Her corpse was discovered Saturday when a house-sitter noticed an odor and fluids coming from the fireplace.
People in the home had noticed nothing until then, police said.
Kotarac was reported missing Thursday when she failed to show up for work, Bakersfield police Sgt. Mary DeGeare said.
The night before, she tried to get into the house with a shovel then climbed a ladder to the roof, removed the chimney cap and slid down feet first. police said.

Earl has already been downgraded to a Hurricane 2 level. And it is raining. Whoopee. It may flood some areas, sure, but it rained in Iowa earlier this year and flooded some areas. Did we get stories about Iowa? Sure, but not to the extent of Earl.
We had winds up to 60 mph last week in Vegas but it didn't garner any national attention. Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes may mention some national attention for a day if blows down a bunch of houses, kills someone or makes a good video. They have winds just as strong as a hurricane and drenching rains.
So, we will have wall to wall coverage of Earl, just like President Obama, until it blows out to sea or goes up into Canada where they have provinces that the vast majority of Americans don't know their names. (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador maybe hit.)

Candidate For Sheriff: Please Be Quiet
Laurie Bisch is running for Clark County Sheriff. She is a Metro officer herself and this is her second run at Sheriff. She seems to have a nice platform and the current sheriff is having a heck of the time with his officers shooting people under questionable circumstances, disrespecting the law they were told to uphold and various other complaints citizens have filed against Metro.
That said, Bisch got into trouble. From the Las Vegas Sun: Bisch filed a complaint with the board after she was reprimanded in connection with a dog-bite incident in mid-2008 involving a friend of her 18-year-old daughter. When the bite occurred, Bisch was unable to reach the girl’s mother, so she took the 17-year-old to the emergency room. There, Bisch falsely filled out a form saying the girl was her daughter. Bisch said she feared that if the hospital couldn’t reach the girl’s real parents, she would not get immediate attention.
Bisch did not, however, file a health insurance claim on behalf of the girl; she paid the $565 for treatment and $49 for antibiotics.
Months later, the girl’s mother reported Bisch’s action to Metro. Internal Affairs investigated, thinking it could be an insurance fraud matter. A police officer can be fired for insurance fraud or identity theft.

A little advise to Ms. Bisch. You sound like a whiny little kid. You forged a medical document and that was wrong. I understand why you did it but it was still wrong.
Get over it. Even if the current Sheriff said to investigate the matter for political gain (which you cannot prove) it doesn't matter, you did wrong.
So, get over it and stop whiny. If you want to continue this to the next level, please do so, but then stop running for Sheriff. We don't need any whiners as Sheriff.

City Of Henderson Debacle
There has been utility work going on in the City of Henderson at the corner of Lake Mead and Boulder Highway (the major intersection in Henderson) and it has been going for a good part of the summer. The work is being done or overseen by Southwest Gas.
Every time we drive by, there is minimal work going on with the people who are supposed to be working are just under the trees gathering shade. The only one's, it seems, who are working most of the time, are the flag girls/guys.
It would be one thing if we could see some progress in the utility work but it just doesn't seem to be any. There just doesn't seem to be any urgency to get the work done and get the major intersection back to normal. I suppose if they get this done early, they may not have anything to do or maybe or go to a worse job.
It would be nice if the City of Henderson can get their act to together and put some pressure on Southwest Gas and it's contractor's to get things done faster.

Interesting Case In Stockton CA. Regarding Paramedic Service
In Stockton, CA, there is a big controversy regarding the fire department and AMR paramedics (those in Las Vegas).
the city of Stockton fire department does not run an ambulance service but has paramedics on it's fire trucks. The paramedics now have been ordered to stand now and only offer BLS aid to patients instead of ALS (paramedic services). They can no longer offer paramedic services to patients who are in need, even though they are qualified. AMR can only offer paramedic services in the City of Stockton. AMR also wants to take over the 911 paramedic dispatching system in the City and maybe County.
From the Reocrd out of Stockton: "Firefighters responding to medical emergencies in Stockton will stop working as paramedics today until city and San Joaquin County officials agree on a plan to restore the service, city officials announced Tuesday.
Until then, that means firefighters on engines will only perform basic life support to victims. Only crews on a separate, county-contracted ambulance will be permitted to perform advanced techniques - invasive procedures such as injections, insertion of breathing tubes, defibrillation and the use of forceps to clear an airway - at the scene.
City officials blamed the county for cornering them into what they called a dangerous position."

It reminds me of an opposite situation years ago in Milwaukee. The private ambulance companies were not allowed to perform paramedic services in the City of Milwaukee, even though they had paramedics and RN's on their ambulances. I remember a case where Bell ambulance was fined for saving a man's life at Summerfest when they used paramedic services (defibrillator, breathing tube and maybe drugs) to save a man's ife but the Milwaukee Fire Dept. complained and Bell was fined for saving a man's life.
So, in Stockton, the hell with paramedics on the fire engines where they have been for years, screw the patients because of AMR and County supervisors and the City of Stockton could not come to a deal.
Be forewarned and I will say this, if AMR ever attempts to do this in Clark County and the City of Las Vegas, I will be all over them like like flies on poop.

Environmental Wacko Takes Over Discovery Channel?

My question is why the Discovery channel. The have the most leftist, environmentally friendly channels. You go to their web sites (not just Discovery Channel) and you will find some of the most leftist propaganda on any television channel. http://planetgreen.discovery.com/
So, why did this leftist wacko go to Discovery? Maybe to find a sympathetic audience? Don't really know because he is no longer with us.
The funniest part, if there is a unny part, is this wack was "awakened by Al Gore's movie". If he was awakened, then he probably was the first as most people are put to sleep by Al Gore.
New Dog Park In Henderson
There is a new dog park in Henderson. It's located at Race Track Dr. and Burkholder, at the aquatic and senior center.
The park has two play areas, both smaller than the parks at the Dog's Fancier park at the end of Flamingo but bigger than Acia park in Henderson.
The park is nice but not great. It has some dog toys, but dogs don't go to the park to play on dog toys- they go to sniff other dogs butts and play with other dogs. It has more seating than the other parks, but much of the seating is in the sun, which is not very good in the heat of the summer.
Many of the dog owners let their dogs go and run but there were also quite a few who stood around their dog like they would hang around a toddler at a park. These people need to cut the bonds and let their dog run and play. Hopefully in time, they will just let their dogs run and play with other dogs.
So, kudos to the City of Henderson in making a new dog park. I know they tried to make it a dog friendly park by putting in the doggy obstacle course and some doggy toys, but 99.9% of the dogs don't want to play on this and just .1% of the owners want their dogs to do this. But it is a nice park for the dogs to run and play and sniff their doggy friends.
