Another Reason Why Cell Phones Are Not Worth It

I only started using a cell phone full time 1 year ago. Most of the other time, I relied on the old dial phone (yes, an actual dial phone) and used my cell phone for games, pictures and emergencies.
From Fox News: A ringing cellphone disrupted a performance by the New York Philharmonic on Tuesday, prompting a conductor to abruptly stop the music, one concertgoer told FoxNews.com.
Kyra Sims, a master's student at the Manhattan School of Music, said maestro Alan Gilbert stopped the iconic orchestra during the final movement of Gustav Mahler's Ninth Symphony at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
"Phones go off during concerts all the time, so when I first heard the phone, I said, 'Man, he's an idiot,'" Sims told FoxNews.com. "I figured he would turn it off but then it just kept ringing. That's what the staggering thing was, it was incessant."

For the past 3 weeks, when I have been in Church, cell phones have gone off and disrupted the service for those around the phone.
I currently have a Blackberry phone and I use it to play Word Mole, text and call my wife, call my mom and talk to my kids and that's it.
But most other people think their phone is their god. They are constantly using it- texting, going on the Internet, calling some people, play games etc. Apparently, people with cell phones think that people want to hear their conversations at the movies, restraunts and grocery stores, or that their phone calls at Church are more important than the service and they are more important than the people who are around them, and in the news article, they think they are more important than the music they were listening to and more important than the people around them.
Maybe we need a law about cell phones disrupting Church or concerts. Just remember, it's not the cell phone who bother people and music, it's the idiot people who disrupt the music and services.

NASCAR: It's All about Sponsorships

From ESPN: Richard Petty said the reason Kurt Busch wasn't hired to drive his famous No. 43 was "personality."
"Sponsorships," Petty said during a break in Thursday's test session at Daytona International Speedway. "Nobody at the time wanted to pay the bill for him. That's how simple it was."

Busch, who was released from Penske Racing after a tumultuous 2011 season that led the 2004 Cup champion to seek professional help for anger issues, ultimately signed with Phoenix Racing.
Richard Petty Motorsports signed
Aric Almirola from JR Motorsports' Nationwide Series team after AJ Allmendinger left to replace Busch at Penske Racing -- even though RPM executive Robbie Loomis said he would mortgage his house to sign Busch.
Petty said Smithfield Foods, which he introduced Thursday as a primary sponsor for the No. 43 car he drove to a record 200 victories and seven Cup championships, was among those that wouldn't come on board if Busch was involved.
"Everybody has to protect their brand," Petty said. "Smithfield has a pretty laid-back, pretty good down-home persona in the general public. If they had taken him on, it would have changed their ... they just didn't like the personality."

http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/7455466/sponsors-wary-kurt-busch-personality-richard-petty-says
In most sports, the very best athletes are out on the field competing for one team or another.
But in NASCAR and most motorsports, it's the sponsors who decide which athletes are out on the field/track. Not the best drivers, mind you, but what the sponsors want.
What if Jeff Gordon did something stupid and the sponsors abandoned him. Would he still have a driving job? Probably not unless he had his own NASCAR team. But Jeff Gordon is one of the best drivers in NASCAR.
Kurt and Kyle Busch are a month the best of the best of NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers, but there was a real strong chance that neither one of them would be driving this season. Kurt was fired from Penske and finally got a job driving for a minor league Sprint team.
Kyle darn near was fired from his ride after he intentionally wrecked a truck in the Camping World truck series and had a few other incidents this past season. Because of Kyle's actions, he no longer will drive in the Truck and Nationwide series this next season. Who benefits from that? The fans? Nope. sponsors? Yep.
This season, right now, David Regan, Brian Vickers and couple other good, high quality drivers don't have rides this year. Not because they don't have the talent- they do, but because of sponsorships, which rule the sport.
So, in another month or so, when the Daytona races begin, we won't have the best drivers on the track, we will have the drivers that sponsors want on the track.
NAsCAR has really began to stink.

Cheers! Cure For The Hangover

While drinking my nightly beer, I ran across this article from AOL: UCLA researchers have found a compound that can counteract the effects of alcohol, but don't call it revolutionary: some people have known about it for over 1300 years.
The team, led by molecular pharmacologist Jing Liang, looked to ancient herbal remedies for inspiration in their study,
published this month in the Journal of Neuroscience, and then used modern science to test them. They found, according to MedicalXpress, "descriptions of anti-alcohol properties of the Asian tree Hovenia dulcis that dated back to 659."
In the experiment (which used rats, since their reaction to alcohol are similar to that of humans), all the subjects were given a strong dose of alcohol. Some were also given the key compound, Dihydromyricetin (DHM), from the ancient Hovenia Dulcis tree, and these subjects sobered up faster and showed a higher tolerance for alcohol in general. In addition, DHM fought hangovers; these extra-resistant rats were tested later for signs of anxiety and seizure, associated with hangovers, and showed fewer of those side effects.
Hangover resistance, as it turns out, was a bonus; the research was intended to develop treatments for alcohol use disorders.
ScienceNews writes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/12/hangovers-cured-for-good-_n_1201459.html
I don't get hangovers anymore, at least not since my early party years when I was in my 20's or so. The only drinks that give me hangovers are lite beer, wine and champagne and since I don't drink those, I just don't get hangovers anymore.
But those who do get hangovers, there is hope besides taking Tums and Tylenol the day after drinking.
Somehow, finding a cure for both a hangover and alcohol abuse seem to be contradictory.
Cheers!

I Really Don't Care If Our Marines Piss On The Dead Enemy

So, a bunch of Marines are in trouble for peeing on the dead enemy- the Taliban. While Obama and his ilk are trying to play nice with the Taliban, even though the Taliban helped killed over 3000 Americans on 9/11 and later, the Marines who peed on the enemy are also sending a message.: Don't try and kill our troops.
The Marines could have done worse- they could have rolled the bodies up in pig bacon fat.
What if these dead Taliban dead just got finished attacking Americans or even worse, innocent Afghan women and children, which the Taliban are known to do frequently? Do the dead Taliban deserve any kind of sympathy like Obama, Hillary Clinton and the liberal minions in Washington D.C. are giving them?
And why in the hell is the Obama administration even talking to the Taliban? Why are they sucking up to the enemy? Why is Obama and Clinton kissing the asses of the Taliban who believe that women are trash, that gays should be executed, that Sharia Law is the law of the land? Why is the Obama consorting with the enemy? In any other time, this would be called treason.
So, a bunch of Marines pissed on a couple dead enemy terrorists during war time? How is that any different than Obama and Hillary Clinton pissing on the graves of the 3000+ Americans who have died at the hands of the Taliban and others.

Clark County About To get A Liberal District Attorney

When GOP former District Attorney David Rogers up and quit, he opened the door for an unelected liberal Democrat to become the District Attorney for Clark County, at least for the next 3 years or so.
In the running for the DA job is a Democratic political leader, a defense attorney and a County attorney.
From the LVRJ: Three finalists were chosen Friday from a pool of seven candidates to become the county's next district attorney.
They are Drew Christensen, county director of appointed counsel; John Hunt, former Clark County Democratic Party chairman; and Steve Wolfson, Las Vegas city councilman and defense lawyer.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/finalists-for-district-attorney-post-christensen-hunt-wolfson-136863468.html
Because the Clark County is 100% made up of Democrats and most are liberal Democrats, we are going to be given a DA who is going to be liberal and/or not qualified, especially in the case of John Hunt who should not even be considered- Hunt must have applied as a practical joke on someone. But elections have consequences and Clark County is going to be stuck with a liberal DA.
But there are some jobs liberals just are not qualified for. Being a District Attorney and prosecutor are not jobs for liberals, otherwise you will have a bunch of coddling of criminals instead of punishing those who have broken the law. Most Liberals just don't have the heart or brains to be a tough DA or prosecutor.
On the other hand and to be fair, there are jobs conservatives should not have. One is a social worker and perhaps a therapist, as seen in this film clip.

Pawn Stars Night Shift Hoax

The show Pawns Stars has a new story line- they are trying to hire a new worker to work the night shift. They give the perspective employees a series of tests about selling items.
Well, here is the truth about the Gold and Silver Shop, home of the Pawn Stars:
At night, the main store is not open. All they have open is a window at the door in which 1 or 2 people work. The window opens up around the time it gets dark or maybe a little later. They mostly take in items, like gold and silver jewelry and nothing expensive. They don't buy big items, like items more than $1000, if that because the workers probably don't have access to that much cash.. They may accept payments for items that have been pawned. This is pretty standard at most pawn shops that are open 24 hours in Las Vegas.
The night shift doesn't do much interaction with the public. They probably do more cleaning than anything. I am sure, at the Gold and Silver Shop, they probably have more visitors at night visiting because of the show, but probably not much business.
So, if you want to visit the shop at night, all you will find is a window that is open to the store and that's it. Not much to see and you can't go inside the shop. And you certainly won't see any of the stars of the show, unless they are filming at night.
So, that is the truth about the story line of Pawn Stars trying to find a new night shift person- it's a fake story line.

Well, Lookee Here- A Quality GOP Candidate For House

Well, it looks like Dina Titus may not have that easy waltz back into the House, in Nevada Congressiongal District 1.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Ruben Kihuen, the state senator hoping to become Nevada’s first Hispanic representative, had a tough race already, facing fellow Democrat and former Rep. Dina Titus.
Now, there’s another Hispanic in the race: a Republican who could split the support of the Hispanic community that Kihuen’s team hoped to rally.
Mike Rodrigues, an elementary school principal from Las Vegas, has an educational background that ranges from opera to business to Christian ministry, and a resume that includes service in the U.S. Air Force and teaching at the Las Vegas campus of the for-profit University of Phoenix. His platform is improving the economy and the educational system by keeping things local.
“My entire career has been focused on raising standards in the classroom and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Nevada,” he said in his campaign announcement. “It’s time to take that same fight to the United States Congress.”

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jan/11/republican-gets-1st-district-congressional-race-co/
Mike Rodrigues sounds like a quality candidate, certainly more ethical than Dina Titus. My guess is that if it is a Rodrigues-Kihuen race, I can see Kihuen winning but a race between Titus-Rodrigues and Rodrigues wins in a landslide. Titus is one of the most unethical politicians in Nevada history- behind Crybaby Reid and John Ensign, so it will be easy to campaign against her..
Thanks for entering the race, Mike.

Sandoval Comes Out And Sees His Shadow

Has there been a more quiet governor in the Uited States than Brian Sandoval? We could go weeks without seeing his name in the newspaper. However, he did pop up this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Gov. Brian Sandoval made his first visit to the floor of the International Consumer Electronics Show on Wednesday and, like many visitors to the annual gadget showcase, saw lots of stuff he'd like to have.
Sandoval and a small contingent from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority spent about an hour at the show, touring the displays of Motorola, Panasonic and Samsung.
"This is probably the most famous show on the planet, and for us to host it is wonderful," Sandoval said. "I think it's important for the governor of Nevada to be here."
Sandoval, believed to be the first sitting governor ever to tour CES, looked at microtelevisions from Motorola, lithium ion storage battery cells for electric cars at the Panasonic booth and smart televisions from Samsung that integrate TV programming with web surfing and social media interaction.

http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/jan/11/sandoval-ces-i-can-see-so-many-things-id-have/
Hopefully, Sandoval spent some time trying to get some of the electronics companies to build a plant or two in Nevada.
I guess Sandoval will now be gone for a few weeks. Maybe he has the same travel planner as President Obama?

KDWN Gives Up Afternoon News For Obama Network

KDWN, AM 720 in Las Vegas has given up local afternoon news and now has the Obama glorification news network, the AP radio news, give the national news updates on the hour and half hour.
I believe that Nate Tannenbaum, the bow tied news person who has been around Las Vegas forever, was the last afternoon newscaster for KDWN.
Now, they have the very liberal and Obama cheerleader, AP radio news as it's newscaster on the hour and half hour. I don't know what time they start using AP news, other than it is in the afternoon. They still use local news in the morning, during the Heidi Harris show.
KDWN has been doing this from the beginning of the year.
I wonder what other cost saving measures KDWN have in store, but if I were Heidi Harris and Alan Stock, both conservative local talk show hosts on KDWN, I would be working on my resume.

A Brave Man Speaking Out

From The Azcentral.com: He went to the town-hall meeting outside the grocery store to yell at his congresswoman, angry that she kept voting for liberal causes, including the health-care reform bill -- "Obamacare," as he calls it.
George Morris didn't get the chance as a gunman went on a rampage that killed his wife, Dorothy, and wounded him in the legs and back.
If he could meet Rep. Gabrielle Giffords now, he'd still vent his frustration at the representative, who suffered brain damage from the Jan. 8 shootings. He also has some choice words for her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly.

"Every time I see them on TV," he said of the couple, who were featured in a prime-time network special in November, "it makes me want to vomit."
Morris, 77, a self-described "ultraconservative," refused an invitation to have President Barack Obama visit him in his hospital room in the days following the shootings.
"I will not kowtow to anyone," he said. "People would not believe that I would refuse the president."
Morris volunteered for the campaign of Giffords' opponent in the 2010 election, a Republican who ran as a "tea party" member. He still thinks Giffords should not be in office. "I think she ought to be thrown out of Congress posthaste," he said. "I do not think she is worthy of serving."
Morris blames Kelly for the death of his wife and the others killed and injured because Kelly didn't take precautions to protect his wife, despite knowing Giffords faced death threats.
"I'd like to debate our dear captain astronaut (and ask) why he didn't have security," Morris said. "My wife would still be alive."
Morris, a retired Marine and airline pilot, also criticized Kelly's decision to fly a shuttle mission while Giffords recovered in a Houston hospital.
He also doesn't appreciate what he sees as the media's deification of the congresswoman. "I think they are both worthless," Morris said.
Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2012/01/07/20120107giffords-victims-morris.html#ixzz1j7knmgg7
I'm sorry, but the media is fawning over Gabby Giffords and they forget about the other victims of the Tuscon shooting- the people who died and the other people who were shot and injured.
Giffords is out now, showing off to the media how much she has recovered, which is a lot, but she is taking all of the spot light and not giving the victims their due.
Then there is talk that Giffords is thinking about running for the House in 2012. Why? She has not represented her district since the shooting, just making a token visit to vote on raising the country's debt. Really? Of all the votes in Congress and she comes back for that one?
It is nice that her staff are running her office in her absence, but no one is voting for the people in her district, no one is representing them in Congress.
And about her recovery? She has her husband talk for her, which means she still has a long way to go, both verbally and probably mentally as well.
I have no problem if she still receives her salary and health benefits while she recovers from her injuries, she deserves that. But let's cut to the chase- she is not serving her constituents by not voting on their behalf. And if she runs again for Congress, what guarantee will the people of her district have that she will actually be a Congresswoman for them?
Yeah, I know Mr. Morris and myself will be considered to be heartless. But that does not diminish the facts of the case where Giffords and her husband are being glorified in the media at the expense of the other victims of the Tuscon shooting and the fact that she is not representing her district in Congress now and if she runs again in 2012. So, come on with the comments that I am a heartless bastard, but you cannot argue the facts.

Yawn: Romney Wins, Paul Second Some Unknown Guy Third

Today, at the New Hampshire primary, Mitt Romney came in 1st place. This shouldn't be a surprise since New Hampshire is a neighbor of Romney's home state of Massachusetts.
Ron Paul and his band of renown crazies came in 2nd place while some guy name Huntsman came in a distance 3rd place.
Huntsman coming in 3rd has to be a disappointment to himself, the Las Vegas Sun and the liberal press as they are the ones who propped up his presidential run. Now, with his bad showing, maybe Huntsman will see the light and drop out.
As far as Romney is concerned, he did all right, captured four delegates out of 7 delegates and nothing more.
Now comes South Carolina and Florida and then Nevada.
Surprisingly, even though I have one of the more popular individual blogs in Nevada, I have not been contacted by one presidential candidate or their campaign, either by e-mail or otherwise. Maybe Nevada is being used as a throw away state.
Perhaps we will also see a couple more candidates drop out, like Rick Perry and Newt (I Don't Care about Anybody But Me") Gingrich.
So,now about 400,000 GOP voters have voted out of about 30,000,000 Republicans or so, to put this whole election cycle in perspective. Romney has won about 10 delegates so far. The race is far from over and the GOP candidates will continue to rip on each other while the media cheers them on.
The game has just begun.

Why Doctors Don't Want To Take Medicare Patients

A friend of mine showed me a doctor's bill from a Las Vegas area hospital. The bill was for 3 days in the hospital and just the hospital bill was $36,000. Thios doesn't even include any doctor bills. The amount Medicare paid the hospital was $3,600 and a $200 co-pay. The hospital had to write off about $33,000 or more likely, pass it on to other insurances or private pay patients.
But yet politicians of both parties in Washington D.C. want to cut the reimbursement rates to doctors and hospitals.
Shameful.

Liberals Wet Dream: Jon Huntsman

For some reason, the liberals in Nevada and elsewhere are trying to prop up the borderline pathetic campaign of Jon Huntsman. The Las Vegas Sun runs at least a weekly article praising Huntsman, someone who barely has any support anywhere in the country. Last time I heard, he had about a 2% of the vote, or in other words, Mr. and Mrs. Huntsman and his family.
Today, the Sun ran an article praising Huntsman. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jan/10/jon-huntsman-beginning-change-voters-minds-hopes-d/ This past Sunday, they ran another article.
But the Las Vegas Sun is trying to get the Nevada GOP to vote for Huntsman, like any GOP member would actually read or do anything the Sun wants them to do. Rule of the thumb for conservatives, do the opposite of the Sun and you can't go wrong.
I just wonder what the love affair the Sun has with the Huntsman campaign? Did Huntsman campaign bribe the Sun to make themselves known? Or maybe Huntsman is a liberal that is masquerading as a conservative or a moderate.

Pawn Stars Reviews January 9, 2012

Welcome to another week of Pawn Stars. Apparently, the folks at the store are still looking for another night shift worker and they are using that in the story line inthe first episode.
In Las Vegas, last week, we had temperatures in the 70's and lows int he 40's. Now that the Winter break is over, we are closer to the normals- highs in the low 60's and lows around 40. Yeah, it's rough this time of year for us.
Las Vegas, this week, is home to the Home Electronics Convention, in which 100,000's of people com into in Vegas and see the latest in home electronics.
There's a new show premiering after Pawn stars called Cajun Pawn. That might be an interesting show.
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a Banker's time lick from the early 1900's. It was used on the old safes and did not let you in the vault until the time the clock was set for. The guy wanted $500 and Rick offered $200. The lock didn't work great and the selling price was $250.
The next guy brought in Springfield Rope Gun. The gun was used to send string/rope between ships. The gun was made before 1898 and it looked like a rifle with a rod that you attached to the barrel. Then the rope was attached to the rod. Then you would fire the rod towards another ship and the rope would trail it and if the rod made it to the ship, you could connect the ships together. (good luck trying to find a picture of it) The guy wanted $1200 and Corey wanted to give $400. The guy went to $850 and Corey went to $600 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a 1st edition of "Walden" by David Thoreau. http://thoreau.eserver.org/walden00.html The seller had it appraised and they said it was a first edition so time for an expert. Rebeca came in Las Vegas Gallery of Bauman Rare Books. http://www.baumanrarebooks.com/about-us/locations/las-vegas-nv.aspx
She said a 1st edition can go up to $25,000 but the guy had a 1st edition of the English version and was worth about $100. Corey offered $50 and then $100 and then $125. No Sale.
The next lady brought in a 1930's optometry kit. It had many, many different lenses. It didn't come with all the parts like eye charts. The lady wanted $250 and Rick offered $100.The lady came down to $200 and Rick went to $175 and that was the selling price.
Corey and Chumlee interviewed several people for the night shift job. A lot of people came in but no one was suitable for the job. The one of the better applicants turned out to be a guy a guy who looked like the Old Man.
The next guy brought in a G.I. Joe Buzz Aldrin doll. Buzz Aldrin was a moon walker. http://buzzaldrin.com/ Rick offered $25 and that was the selling price. It was a relatively new toy, so it wasn't worth too much.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in 1928 Charles Lindbergh Aviation doll. The doll was about 2 feet tall. Rick offered $400. The guy then came back with $900 and Rick went to $500 and that was the selling price. They took the doll to the Toy Shack and Johnny and said the doll was worth $1600-1800. And Johnny offered $700 and then $800 and that was the cash sale price.
The next guy came in with a Vintage cast iron electric hand dryer. It was from the 1920's. The air came out of the top instead of the bottom, like they do now. Corey didn't think it was that old. The guy wanted $650 and Corey offered $200 and then $350. (Corey let out that 1/2 of his customers were tourists. hmm, that many?)
The next guy had an electronic roulette/slot machine. It was from the 1970's and it was an electronic roulette that paid off like a slot machine. There was no 12 on the wheel which i guess is like the casino's 0 and 00's on regular roulette wheels.. The guy wanted $500 and Rick offered $200 and then $350 and that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in Brother Word Processor. I actually had one of these when I was in college. The guy wanted $200 and rick offered $10 and then $20. No sale. Those machines were quite good and they can almost beat a computer today. The guy brought the word processor back and sold it to the Pawn Shop for $20.
the next guy brought brought in a 1905 Side Show poster. Rick said it was actually a vaudeville act ala Charlie Chaplin, Bob Hope, George Burns Jack Benny in their earlier careers. Rick thought there was water damage and a few other problems.. The guy wanted $1000 and Rick offered $500 and then $600 and that was the selling price. They gave the poster for an expert, Chuck, to look at (who we never have seen before who had Harry Carey glasses on) and he said the poster was real. Chuck said the poster was worth a minimum of $1000.
That wraps up another Pawn Stars week. As always, thanks for for stopping by and have a nice week.

In Honor Of Tim Tebow

Britney Spears: "Ooops, I Did It Again". Yes he did.

Even A Liberal Gets It

Steve Sebelius is a liberal columnist for the LVRJ and even he understands Crybaby Harry Reid's dementia/hypocrisy. In a column about the so called "recess" appointments by President Obama, Sebelius rips Crybaby Reid and his dementia, eerrr, politic playing.
From Seblius's column: But Obama's appointment of Cordray using his "recess appointment" powers is an equally dangerous, equally unprecedented act. Why? Well, the Senate is technically not in "recess." Thus, no recess appointments.
During the closing days of the George W. Bush administration, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid began holding so-called pro forma sessions when the Senate would typically be on vacation. He staged these short sessions -- in which a senator gavels in and gavels out, usually in about 30 seconds -- to deny Bush the chance to make recess appointments.
Back in 2007, Reid called recess appointments of controversial nominees "an end run around the Senate and the Constitution," although they are clearly permitted in the text. In 2008, he said "we don't let [Bush] have recess appointments because they are mischievous." And in 2005, Reid said the recess appointment of John Bolton as U.N. ambassador was an "abuse of power."
On Wednesday, however, Reid said he supported Obama's "recess" appointment, accusing Republicans of -- where have we heard this before? -- trying to make an end run around the law. The urgency of helping consumers justifies the move, Reid implied in a statement.
White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler contends the pro forma sessions of the Senate are a gimmick designed to render a constitutional power of the president obsolete. Former Justice Department official Steven Bradbury (who was denied a recess appointment thanks to pro forma sessions organized by Reid) quotes former Attorney General Henry Daugherty saying "to give the word recess a technical and not practical construction is to disregard substance for form."
But whenever I hear somebody appeal to "substance" over "form," in matters of law, I get the sense somebody's trying to put one over on me....
http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/you-need-a-recess-to-make-recess-appointments-136797788.html
But that's a risky interpretation. What's to stop Obama (or a future president) from saying that partisan gridlock has so crippled the Senate that it's incapable of giving advice and consent in general? Could not that be used as justification to make recess appointments all the time?
By making a recess appointment when there's no recess, Obama has surrendered the moral and constitutional high ground. By failing to object, Reid shows not only intellectual dishonesty but also a shocking willingness to surrender an important prerogative of the legislative branch. And just because it makes good politics -- can you imagine the mileage Democrats could get from a Republican lawsuit asserting the right to block consumer protections? -- doesn't mean it's a good idea.

A liberal columnist calling Crybaby Reid dishonest? Hope he has his resume handy.

Tebowed

In the first play from scrimmage in overtime, Tim Tebow threw an 80 yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 29-23.
If you took the Broncos to straight up to win, you made some serious cash. Before today, the Broncos were a 250-1 to win the Super Bowl. I suspect those odds went down significantly today.
Both teams looked bad during the game so I don't expect Denver to go any farther in the playoffs, but this may be a magical year for the Broncos. Anything can happen.

I Hate It When This Happens

Do You Think Al Sharpton And/Or Jesse Jackson Want Another 4 Yeas Of Obama?

One of the positive things about the Obama administration is that we have heard very little from the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton (I guess he has a show on MSNBC, but he is seen by only about 10 people- Al thanks his family for their support) and other "civil rights" activists.
Do you think these "civil rights" activists are going to be happy with another 4 years being out of the picture and into the pasture if President Obama is re-elected?
Somehow, I doubt it. I don't Jackson wants another 4 years of talking to the London Occupy group and saying that Jesus, Mandela, Gandhi and King were Occupiers as he says on this video(as an aside, Jackson sounds and looks terrible in this video- hope he is ok):

Patrick Coolican: Stupid Again

Patrick Coolican is another, in a long line, of columnists for the Las Vegas Sun who are unethical and just plain ignorant and Coolican's rant this past week against Dean Heller shows us once again how ignorant this guy is.
Coolican writes about Dean Heller's attempt to go after the Hispanic vote.
First Coolican rips Heller about not wanting to vote for the Dream Act. One of the provisions of the Dream Act is that a person must complete 2 years of school or military service. Perhaps Coolican missed this, but the military is laying off thousands upon thousands of service men and women. Would Coolican support illegals jump to the head of the line in getting into the military?
If a person doesn't do military service, then a person must attend college for 2 years. OK, but what about those who cannot attend college because of cost or because they are not smart enoguh- what happens to those people? Is Coolican saying, sorry, buddy, the person who attends ITT can stay in the U.S. but because of financial hardships, you have to go? Of course Coolican would not say this- he wants everyone to stay. Further, Coolican, what would you do with the parents of the kids who qualify for the Dream Act? Deport them?
Coolican says the GOP insults the Hispanic community when it deals with immigration. However, Coolican says this: Heller says we’re the only industrialized nation in the world with birthright citizenship.
Note to Heller: We’re also the only industrialized country in the world without universal health care. So what?

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jan/06/coolican-civility-alone-wont-win-hispanics-sen-dea/
Well, Mexico and Turkey do not have universal health care. Ooops, Coolican just insulted Mexico with his ignorance.
Coolican also offers this gem of stupidity: Then there’s the dreaded “anchor babies.” Heller signed on to legislation that would end automatic citizenship for babies born in the United States, instead requiring that to qualify for citizenship one parent must already be a citizen.
You can imagine how this utterly un-American policy might offend Hispanics. It offends me because more than likely my ancestors would have been disqualified for citizenship. They came over on a boat from Ireland and had a lot of babies.

So, Coolican, did you ancestors come over on the boat and then run away from the government people who dealt with immigration or did they come over on the boat and legally gain citizenship? My guess is that is was the latter.
And a question: Let’s say a child was born here to two noncitizens. Of what country is the child a citizen? The answer is likely none, so we would be creating a population of stateless refugees right here in America. Genius! Hey genius, they would be a citizen of the parents hom country, not the U.S.

Coolican is one of those clowns who think if we pass the Dream Act or or other comprehensive immigration reform, it will solve all our problems. However, as we have seen in the past, no matter what you do, nothing seems to have an affect on illegal immigration, and the illegal immigration problem is the fault of both parties.
So what I do?
1. Build a fence on the Southern border.
2. Immediately deport anyone convicted of a crime- felony or misdemeanor.
3. No public assistance of any kind for illegals including student loans and grants from the U.S. government.
4. If a person who is in the U.S. illegally needs to be hospitalized and doesn't have the means to pay for it, put them on an air or ground ambulance once they are stabilized and send them back to their home country, unless their home country agrees in advance to pay for the medical bills.
5. Educate the K-12 kids who are here, but bill their home country for the added expenses.
I'm sure with Coolican's genius mind, he would agree with these 5 steps, but I doubt it. Coolican is a hard core lefty of the Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson mold- lot's of hot air but really says nothing of substance.

Sheriff Joe Running Again

This is good news: Most people know him simply as “Sheriff Joe” - the self-proclaimed toughest lawman in the United States. And, apparently, the five-term boss of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Phoenix wants another four years.
Sheriff
Joe Arpaio formally announced his re-election campaign Thursday, boasting a record $6 million war chest and promising to “continue to protect the citizens of Maricopa County by enforcing all the laws.” That would include immigration law that has gotten the sheriff and his department crosswise with the Justice Department in Washington.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as sheriff of Maricopa County,” said the embattled 79-year-old sheriff, who had considered a run for the
U.S. Senate seat in Arizona being vacated by Republican Sen. Jon Kyl but determined “there was still much work to do as sheriff.” http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jan/5/sheriff-arpaio-announces-re-election-bid-arizona/
I love Sheriff Joe and his policies and they way he tweaks the noses of liberals. I'm pretty sure most people of Maricopa feel the same way.
Good luck in your re-election, Sheriff Joe.

A Tiger Just Cannot Change Their Stripes

I don't know who in the GOP thought this was a good idea, but...
From the Daily Caller: ABC News commentator George Stephanopoulos directed pointed, hard-edged questions to Republican presidential candidates during Saturday night’s New Hampshire debate, often attacking without providing evidence to justify his broadsides.
When questioning former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Stephanopoulos, a former senior advisor in the administration of Democratic President Bill Clinton, premised some inquiries on the assertion — offered without supporting facts — that Romney’s job-creation statistics were inaccurate.
“Now, there have been questions about that calculation of 100,000
jobs. So if you could explain it a little more,” Stephanopoulos asked Romney of the former governor’s claims about jobs created by companies he has helmed. “I’ve read some analysts who look at it and say that you’re counting the jobs that were created but not counting the jobs that were taken away. Is that accurate?”
“No, it’s not accurate,” Romney bluntly responded. “It includes the net of both. I’m a good enough numbers guy to make sure I got both sides of that.”
Stephanopoulos did not cite any analysts by name.
Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/07/stephanopoulos-struggles-with-fairness-during-nh-debate/#ixzz1iqW6ojO1
Brent Bozell, president of the conservative Media Research Center, told The Daily Caller that Stephanopoulos’ questions about Paul’s newsletters indicates a double standard. “Stephanopoulos asking Paul about newsletters 20 years ago — again,” Bozell said. “How often does he hit Obama with Jeremiah Wright?”
Bozell added, too, that Stephanopoulos was the “Chief Democrat Spinmeister in ’92.”
“It’s 2012 and nothing’s changed,” he said.

Stephanopoulos is just a Democratic party hack who works for ABC. And once a liberal, almost always a liberal. Stephanopoulos shows tonight and every time he is on the air, that he is just a liberal hack and lacks journalism ethics.
But I don't blame Stephanopoulos for acting like the liberal fool tonight. I blame the GOP and whoever set up the debate for even inviting him participate in the debate. It's like allowing Larry Flynt to preach in church and then be shocked when he talks about the benefits of pornography to the congregation.

Brand New Park In Henderson, NV

Henderson, NV., my current hometown, is consistently rated one of the best places to live in the United States. One of the reasons for these good rankings are their parks.
Last weekend, Henderson opened up another park, this time by Horizon and Horizon Ridge Parkway. Hidden Falls, the name of the park, is one of Henderson's largest. It has a dog park, bike/skateboard/scooter park, basketball courts, kids area, hiking trails and more.
The dog parks are fairly good sized but smaller than the Bark Park but there is no shaded areas for the dogs or people. This will be a problem in the summer when the temperatures are well over 100 degrees.
The skate park looks pretty cool, if I was 40 years younger, but I am sure the kids who are using it are pretty happy. The other parks seem to be nice as well. The hiking trails look like they go up Black Mountain, but I am not sure how high up they go
The park is located behind Vons and just north of the armory in case you want to check it out.

Another Corrupt Clark County Judge

I wonder how much Floyd Maryweather paid the judge or donate to her campaign?
From the Las Vegas Sun: Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still a free man, thanks to a last-minute decision by a Las Vegas judge to delay the 90-day jail term the boxing champion was to have begun today for domestic battery.
Despite objections by Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Luzaich that Mayweather Jr. should be treated as anyone else, the judge decided the 34-year-old boxing champ could wait until June 1 to begin his sentence until after his scheduled Cinco De Mayo fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa made that decision after hearing from Mayweather's attorney, Richard Wright.
Wright claimed there would be great difficulty in rescheduling the fight, which he said is worth “more than $100 million” to the Las Vegas community.
Although there has been no opponent named for that fight, Wright said that the bookings for the MGM arena and of the block of television time for the pay-per-view fight was set before attorneys negotiated Mayweather's plea bargain in December.
Mayweather
pleaded guilty to reduced charges in connection with a September 2010 attack on his ex-girlfriend in front of the couple’s two children.
Although Judge Saragosa said Mayweather could delay serving his 90-day sentence until after the planned fight in May, he would need to immediately begin a yearlong domestic violence counseling program.
Saragosa set a status check on Mayweather's case for 1:30 p.m. March 15. She said Mayweather will not have to personally attend that hearing as long as he continues to follow the other requirements of his sentence, which includes weekly counseling sessions.
Mayweather, who did not attend today’s hearing, had been told to turn himself in for the 90-day sentence, which could be reduced with good behavior and work time while he is in jail.
In requesting that the sentence begin on June 1, Wright said that would give Mayweather adequate time to train for and then physically recover from the May 5 fight.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jan/06/mayweather-begin-serving-jail-term//

The DA was pissed: Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Luzaich said the state’s position “has always been that Mr. Mayweather shouldn’t be treated any different than anybody else that comes into this court or any other court because of his status as a celebrity.”
Luzaich said that a commitment that was made in November with Mayweather’s attorneys was that a trial date would not interfere with a fight. However, Mayweather’s attorneys decided after that to negotiate the case, she said.
“There was no discussion at the time of the negotiation of the fight,” she said. “There was no talk about, well, if there’s a jail sentence, let’s move it around the fight, or anything like that. When the court sentenced the defendant in December, the court gave him time to put his affairs in order.”
She said the court didn’t remand him into custody on that day, as it could have.
“The court gave him until today to turn himself in and surrender and serve his sentence. The state’s position is that is that that’s what he should be doing today,” she said. “Turning himself in serve his sentence, just like anybody else would have to.”
Luzaich argued the fight could be rescheduled — “things get rescheduled all the time.”

There is no opponent for Maryweather and this scheduling of the fight was more of a joke than taken seriously. And there is no reason why the fight could not have been postponed because all you are dealing is with a date.
I think the State Supreme Court and the people who investigate judges need to make sure that the so called judge in this case, the Dishonorable Melissa Saragosa isn't on drugs or isn't being paid off.
The dishonorable Saragosa was the one who sentenced Maryweather in the first place, so why didn't she bring this up then? She knew about the fight and now when it is time for the fairy Maryweather to actually do some hard time, Saragosa chickens out or is paid off.
To see how this blonde bubblehead bimbo (sorry Jill) rates as a judge: http://media.lvrj.com/documents/Judicial_Report_2011_JusticeCourts.pdf
No wonder the Clark County Court system is a laughing stock of the country. By having judges like Saragosa, or judge Steve Jones who may have had an affair with a DA in his court or Donald Moesley who can't keep his kid out jail to previous judges who have been thrown off the bench because of crimes or incompetence.
Or, maybe something happened to the judge like what happened to this guy in MIB:

Finally, Maryweather is such a pathetic wimp that he refused to even show up for court, he had to hide behind his lawyer.

This is a sad day for justice in Clark County and Las Vegas because it shows that if you are a celebrity, you are going to be treated differently. In this case, justice was not blind but instead we have a bugged eyed crack addict lady justice named Saragosa.

Good, So Now How Do They Get Their Reputation Back?

From the LVRJ: A federal arbitrator has ruled that a Sunrise Children's Hospital nurse fired in connection with a 2010 baby death in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit should be reinstated with back pay, a spokesman for the nurse's union said Thursday.
Nick Di Archangel, communications director for Service Employees International Union Nevada, said the arbitrator ruled that Jessica May Rice should "be made whole as though nothing had happened."
Rice and another fired nurse, Sharon Ochoa-Reyes, had been called persons of interest by the Metropolitan Police Department in an criminal investigation into "intentional patient harm."
No criminal charges have been filed. Police refused to reply Thursday to questions about whether their investigation continues into how catheters came apart in the intensive care unit for children. Catheters are used to draw blood and deliver medications and nutrition.
The July 2, 2010, death of 2-month-old Miowne Obote, whose catheter was severed, was ruled a homicide in August 2010 by the Clark County coroner.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/former-sunrise-nurse-wins-neonatal-unit-case-136797728.html
Once in a blue moon, the union gets it right and today must be a blue moon.
The two nurses involved were the victims of a witch hunt by Sunrise Hospital and Metro Police. The facts that are publicly known show that either these two ladies independently were looking to be "heroes" or angels of death when they discovered the catheters cut or broken and that is really unheard of.
First, the Nevada board that regulates nurses and issues licenses declined to revoke their nursing license and now this ruling should put these ladies in the clear. But I doubt it- seems like Metro and Sunrise will continue to scapegoat these ladies to cover up either a defective product or a bad procedure.
So, now how does Jessica Rice get her reputation back?

Another Reason Not To Get News From NBC News

From World Net Daily: NBC-owned television stations in cities across the nation just teamed up with a nonprofit “journalism” group funded by a billionaire husband-and-wife team who not only spent millions campaigning for President Obama but also topped donor lists to groups such as ACORN and MoveOn.org.
The nonprofit, ProPublica, will contribute to the news operations of all NBC-owned-and-operated stations, including those in such cities as Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia, the network announced Monday....

On its website, Pro Publica describes itself as championing the values of the “weak” against the “strong.”
States the website: “Our work focuses exclusively on truly important stories, stories with ‘moral force.’ We do this by producing journalism that shines a light on exploitation of the weak by the strong and on the failures of those with power to vindicate the trust placed in them.”
Controversial Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., a friend of Obama who was embroiled in a national race scandal in 2009, sits on the board of ProPublica.
ProPublica was founded with a $10 million yearly grant from Herbert and Marion Sandler, the former chief executives of the Golden West Financial Corporation, which was one of the nation’s largest mortgage lenders and savings and loans.
Just before the financial crisis, the Sandlers in 2008 sold their business to the Wachovia Corporation for about $26 billion, a deal which valued their personal shares at about $2.4 billion.
The Sandlers are major donors to the Democratic Party and are top funders of ACORN, MoveOn.org, the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Watch and other far-left groups
The billionaire couple donate major sums to the Center for American Progress think tank, which is reportedly highly influential in helping to craft White House policy.
The center is directed by John Podesta, who served as co-chairman of Obama’s 2008 presidential transition team.

http://www.wnd.com/2011/12/375053/
NBC does not have a news organization. They have a President Obama cheerleading team. Remember Chris Matthew's tingling leg?
And to Channel 3 in Las Vegas, the NBC affiliate, shame on you. Another reason not to watch your news at night, not that I ever did.

Want To be A Tow Truck Driver?

In my younger days, I thought it would be kind of cool to be a tow truck driver. After all, you just tow cars from accidents or broken down cars- easy right?
Well, i have been watching a TV show on the Speed Channel called "Wrecked" and they follow the drivers of a Chicago tow company, O'Hare towing. http://www.speedtv.com/programs/wrecked/ and http://www.oharetowing.com/
I never realized how dangerous a job it is to be a tow truck driver and the knowledge you need to able to tow the cars and trucks and in case a bridge. It's not just mechanical knowledge, but you need to be good in geometry and algebra as well. And they operate in every type of weather- rain, snow, cold, heat, night, daytime. It's a tough job mentally and phyically.
So, if you see a tow truck driver working, please be careful of them- more than 1 tow truck driver is killed each year for doing their job.

Reno Air Races To Continue?

From the RGH: Backed by overwhelming support from the community and from victims of the horrific Sept. 16 crash that killed 11 and injured at least 70, officials announced Wednesday plans to hold the National Championship Air Races on Sept. 12-16.
“In the days and months after the accident, we grappled with the future of the air races,” Mike Houghton, president of the Reno Air Racing Association, said during a press conference.
Then, after receiving “impassioned emails and phone calls from people all around the world,” Houghton said they were motivated “to do everything we can to preserve and continue this historic event.”
Organizers hope to host an air racing event as well as an air show that will feature a memorial to the victims of the September crash, he said. But if they are unable to put on the air race, it will likely be the last year for a Reno air event, Houghton said.
Reno Mayor Bob Cashell said he’s 100 percent behind the association’s efforts.
http://www.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artikkel?NoCache=1&Dato=20120104&Kategori=EVENTS05&Lopenr=120104020&Ref=AR
It would be nice to have the races continue because it is one of the last true air races in the world and the large amount of money it brings into the Reno area. Of course, changes will have to be made, both with how spectators are seated and also how the airplanes are built or modified to race.
The accident this Fall was a freak thing and the races shouldn't be canceled just for that reason. Just think if we canceled all the events where a person was accidentally killed, we wouldn't have car races, football games, parades etc.
So, good luck to the Reno Air Races and hopefully they will have a successful race later this year.

Words Of A Dictator

But when Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as President to do what I can without them. (Applause.) I’ve got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people. And I’m not going to stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people that we were elected to serve. (Applause.) Not with so much at stake, not at this make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans. We’re not going to let that happen. (Applause.) http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/01/05/obama_i_have_an_obligation_as_president_to_do_what_i_can_without_congress.html
And this moron was a constitutional law professor?
Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro are smiling tonight.

How Very Sad

From The Brownsville Herald: Police arrived at Cummings Middle School and saw a person with a gun in a hallway near the main office: a male, about 5 foot 7, holding a black handgun, the officers say in the radio dispatch of the incident.
The Brownsville police officers entered the school and shouted that they saw the male from the front door with what appeared to be a weapon, the radio recordings show. Police officials said the male pointed the gun at officers as they repeatedly asked him to put down the weapon.
“Take him out,” a policeman yells, according to the radio records.
The sound of fired shots reverberates on the radio call. Officers quickly call for emergency medical crews.
“Subject shot,” an officer repeats on the radio call.
A Brownsville police officer fatally shot Jaime Gonzalez, an eighth-grade student at Cummings Middle School, Wednesday morning, Interim Brownsville Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez said at a press conference in the afternoon.
The weapon was later revealed to be a pellet gun, Rodriguez said.
“He was ordered several times to drop the weapon,” he said.
Officers shot the teenager with assault rifles, Rodriguez said.
Gonzalez, 15, was pronounced dead at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. A judge has ordered an autopsy.
Gonzalez had reportedly assaulted another student before he was shot, a seemingly random act, Rodriguez said. Gonzalez was walking toward the main office after the alleged assault when an administrator saw the gun and called 911, Rodriguez said.

http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/articles/police-135447-gonzalez-gun.html
One wonders what the kid was thinking when he brought the gun to school and then refused to put it down.
As a father of 2 middle school kids, the minds and hormones of the kids are raging and sometimes they don't know or don't care what the consequences are. Further, a lot these kids are playing video games where there is a lot of violence with no consequences.
Last year, a middle school student in Las Vegas took a knife and held a school secretary hostage. I saw the pictures and it was scary to see this kid, who was bigger than the secretary, holding a knife to her throat. Sometimes middle school kids do very bad things.
And with so many school shootings in the past few years, the cops had limited options but to shoot the kid. Even though the kid had a pellet gun, it looked like the real thing.
So, prayers to the family of the child. Losing a child this way has to be absolutely horrible. Also, prayers to the cops who are probably feeling horrible right now for killing such a young kid, even though the shooting is probably justified. It's just a very sad situation.

Danny Tarkanian Going to Run For House Seat

From the LVRJ: Danny Tarkanian plans next week to launch his Republican campaign for the new congressional district in Southern Nevada, a GOP source said Wednesday.
Tarkanian's entry into the race will set up a competitive GOP primary for the 4th Congressional District with state Sen. Barbara Cegavske, R-Las Vegas, businessman Dan Schwartz, and Kenneth Wegner, a retired Army veteran who said Wednesday that he's getting into the race as well.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/danny-tarkanian-to-join-race-for-congressional-seat-next-week-136692793.html
This seat is Tarkanian's to lose. While he will have a spirited primary with 3 quality GOP candidates, Tarkanian has the name recognition and the money to compete and win.
And then he may face Steven "I Don't Care If I Park In Handicapped Parking" Horsford who won't be much of a challenge in the end.
Even though there is a majority of Democrats registered in the District, it won't matter as I believe Tark will win overwhelming.

150 Year Old Prison Closes

From the LVRJ: Correctional officers hugged each other, shouted "goodbye NSP" and shed tears as they trudged out of the Nevada State Prison for the last time Wednesday afternoon.
For 150 years, inmates have been housed in the sandstone prison, about two miles east of the Capitol, that opened two years before Nevada obtained statehood. That legacy will end Thursday when the final seven inmates are moved to other prisons, said a correctional officer who declined to give his name.
"It's over," the officer said. "We're done."
The corrections officer said the inmates will be gone and only four or five officers will report for duty Thursday, though the Department of Corrections would not confirm this. The officers' primary job will be preparing the facility for closure. At peak capacity, the prison held 821 inmates.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/officers-bid-farewell-to-state-prison-136707043.html
The prison has a unique history- from 1932-1967, the prison had it's own casino and you really didn't want to cheat in this casino.
It's too bad that the prison is closing because it will have a financial impact in the Carson City area. On the other hand, we, in Nevada, have so much empty prison space, we should be renting out the space. We have a large prison in Jean, just north of the NV-CA border near Las Vegas that is mostly closed, a boys prison by Nellis AFB that is closed. Clark County has a large jail that sits empty, except now because of renovations at CCDC. We also have some smaller prisons and prison camps that are closed.
Maybe we can reopen the Nevada State prison for all the Obama administration criminals? But it may not be enough.

Strange Phone Call Tonight

This evening I received a phone call from an anonymous male who called my cell phone and the callers number came up as an unknown number. He told me to lay off of Crybaby Harry Reid on this blog, in so many words.
It's strange because very few people know my phone number. Wife, work, mom and sister are about the only ones who know my number and name. There is no listing of my phone number. I also don't use my last name on this blog, though if someone went through the entire blog, they might figure it out.
So, I must have rattled someone's brain and no, I am not going to back off of the Crybaby.

One Less Conservative Woman For The Left To Hate: Michelle Bachman Out Of GOP Race

Muichelle Bachman dropped out of the GOP race for president today after being an also ran in Iowa. I knew she had high hopes for Iowa, since she is from neighboring Minnesota.
I thank Bachman for running for president. First, anyone who runs for office, left or right, deserve our thanks. If we didn't have people running for office and running in primaries and giving voters choices, then we would have a totalitarian state- like North Korea or Cuba. So thank you Bachman and all those who are running for president for upholding democracy.
And now, the left will have to find another conservative female or minority to hate. The left can tolerate white conservative males, but when it comes to conservative females like Bachman or Sarah Palin or conservative males like Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain, they just despise them. The left hates it when a female or minority leaves the liberal plantation and tries to make a name for themselves. If more minorities and females left the slave plantation called liberalism, then fewer people will need liberals and they are scare shitless of that. Females and minorities are the liberal base and if the minorities and females start thinking outside the box, the liberals lose.
So, thanks Michelle Bachman for running and good luck in the future.

Crybaby Harry Reid Shows Once Again That He Is Senile

Crybaby Harry Reid is either the most corrupt politician ever from Nevada (and that includes John Ensign) or he is incredibly senile.
From the Washington Times: President Obama used his recess appointment powers Wednesday to name a head for the controversial Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and three new members to the National Labor Relations Board — moves Republican lawmakers said amounted to an unconstitutional power grab.
The president acted just a day after the
Senate held a session — breaking with at least three different precedents that said the Senate must be in recess for at least three days for the president to exercise his appointment power. Mr. Obama himself was part of two of those precedents, both during his time in the Senate and again in 2010 when one of his administration’s top constitutional lawyers made the argument for the three-day waiting period to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Obama tapped former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to head the CFPB, and named three others to the labor board — all of which had been stymied by congressional Republicans who said Mr. Obama is accruing too much power to himself through those two agencies. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jan/4/obama-unprecedented-recess-appointment/?page=all#pagebreak...
But Crybaby Harry Reid has done this: “I am keeping the Senate in pro forma to prevent recess appointments until we get this process back on track,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said on Nov. 16, 2007, as he announced his strategy of having the Senate convene twice a week for pro forma sessions.
On Wednesday, though,
Mr. Reid reversed course and said he backed the president’s move.
“I support President
Obama’s decision to make sure that in these tough economic times, middle-class families in Nevada and across the country will have the advocate they deserve to fight on their behalf against the reckless practices that denied so many their economic security,” he said.
Crybaby Reid is just another corrupt individual who will rot in hell when he dies. He doesn't care who he screws, as long as it benefits him.
However, when the GOP takes over the Senate, I predict Reid will resign from the Senate "to take care of his ailing wife" and enjoy his pension while living in Washington D.C.. Reid doesn't care about Nevada anymore- he just cares about power- his power.
He won't be able to stand being in the minority and Chuckie Schumur from New York will lend a hand in getting rid of Nevada's most disgraceful politician ever.

$350,000 For Missing Organs?

From the Las Vegas Sun: A lawyer says the family of a 29-year-old British tourist who died in Las Vegas in 2005 has agreed to a $350,000 settlement to end a federal lawsuit stemming from the disappearance of the man's internal organs after an autopsy.
Attorney Jonathan Charles Capp told The Associated Press the relatives of Richard Boorman will take
$50,000 that Clark County is offering to settle the case. The funeral home that handled Boorman's remains has agreed to settle for $300,000.
The Clark County coroner determined Boorman died of acute cocaine and alcohol intoxication after collapsing in a Las Vegas Strip casino during a bachelor party.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jan/04/family-taking-350k-las-vegas-missing-organs-claim/
I'm sorry, but this idiot abused his organ so much that he killed himself. Apparently, this fool didn't care so much about his vital organs as his family does.
What a stupid settlement, a stupid family and a stupid dead person. Glad his DNA is no longer in the DNA pool.

Is Shell That much Better?

In Las Vegas (Lamb Blvd) there is a Shell gas station selling gas for $3.49 a gallon.
2 blocks down the street, there is a gas station selling gas for $3.19 a gallon.
There were 5 cars at the Shell gas station and 3 at the other station.
The gas comes through the same terminal about 5 miles away.
Is Shell gas really worth 30 cents a gallon better than the other store or are the gas shoppers just stupid by not looking down the street?
I honestly don't know.

Another Reason Not To Trust Green Energy Companies

From the Pahrump Valley Times: Slar Millennium AG, the company that received the go-ahead to build two, 250-megawatt, concentrated solar power plants in Amargosa Valley, has filed for bankruptcy protection in Germany.
The filing of insolvency was blamed on substantial projects being postponed, the company states. It was a step taken to protect the existing assets for shareholders and creditors, Solar Millennium AG stated in a press release.
The release, dated Dec. 21, states “Solar Millennium AG, Erlangen, has filed for the opening of insolvency proceedings at the district court in Fuerth.”
Solarhybrid AG, another German company, announced a conditional agreement to acquire Solar Millennium and its pipeline of 2.25 gigawatts of power under development, back in October....

Solar Millennium was granted a record of decision by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior in November 2010 granting the company the right-of-way to build two, 250-megawatt, solar power plants on 4,600 acres of public land along Farm Road in Amargosa Valley. But the company hasn’t acted yet to construct the facilities. Solar Millennium is also planning solar power plants in Blythe, Palen and Ridgecrest, Calif.
ohttp://pvtimes.com/news/solar-millennium-files-for-bankruptcy-in-german-court/
This shows once again that many, if not most green energy frauds err, companies are not viable as a company unless they get get huge financial help from government agencies and/or file for bankruptcy.
I'm not sure if Crybaby Reid had anything to do with this company, though my betting money says yes he has, but these are the companies Rid likes to support. It's green energy and who cares about the finances of the company.
Nye County needs to stop this project immediately but if they don't they will be left holding the money bag with no money in it. The Nye County taxpayers, if nothing happens, are about to be screwed.

Josh Reid Already Screwing Over Henderson Taxpayers

From the Las Vegas Sun: The Henderson City Council approved a $225,000 settlement Tuesday with a man who sued the city and four Henderson police officers after a 2007 New Year’s Eve altercation he says caused him great bodily, emotional and financial harm.
According to court documents, Nevada resident Adam Fradella accused officers Kyle Slattery, Kevin LaPeer, Michael Coleman and Ron Russo of violating his civil rights with a “violent physical battery and assault,” causing him to suffer injuries to his head, arms and leg, as well as knocking out one of his teeth....

In his own account of the incident, Slattery said Fradella swung at him with a closed fist, which caused officers to attempt to restrain him with force, delivering multiple strikes to his face, head, upper chest and left rib cage.
In his account, Slattery noted that Fradella was taken to a St. Rose Hospital with injuries to his left forearm, left thigh, left hand and an injury to his left front tooth. He said no police officers suffered any injuries.
Paul said Fradella was arrested at the scene for resisting a public officer, battery on a public officer and assault on a public officer....

The city attorney’s office would not respond for comment, but according to court documents, the city denied most of the allegations in Fradella’s complaint.
The city finally settled the lawsuit in 2011 and agreed to award Frandella $225,000. The settlement was approved at a city council meeting Tuesday.

Reid has been on the job for less than a month and he is already encouraging the city to spend hundred's of thousands of dollars to pay a thug.
Way to go Joshy baby and the City of Henderson.

It's The Rick And Mitt Show In Iowa

A moderate- Mitt Romney and a true conservative, Rick Santorum are battling neck and neck to win the Iowa caucus tonight. It really doesn't matter who wins as the number of delegates will be almost the same. All they are doing is battling for bragging rights.
Ron Paul came in third and Newt Gingrich is a distance 4th and the you have the also rans and book sellers.
From here, they will go to New Hampshire where Romney has a large lead, but Santorum can cut into that lead since he is from the Northeast. Then comes South Carolina and Nevada, where I will go to a caucus and put in my vote for Santorum- he didn't throw Nevada under the bus when we had the squabble with New Hampshire about the date of our caucus.
So, let the games begin.

Quote Of The Day,Week...

“Pigeons have a right to eat just like any other animal has a right to eat,” one man said, adding that he didn’t think pigeons were a menace. “Liberal Democrats, I think they’re a menace, too, but no one’s saying we can’t feed y’all.”

Rose Bowl Chumps

I watched the Wisconsin Badger football game today at the Rose Bowl and once again, the Badgers and the coaches especially, proved they are not ready for the big time.
The coaching stunk- they wasted a timeout in the 2nd half in hopes a play would be reviewed (the kickoff/touch back) and that proved to be a waste.
And the last play of the game, with 2 seconds left, they tried to spike the ball, but it took longer to spike the ball than 2 seconds and the game was over without even a throw into the end zone. They could have snapped the ball and made the attempt, but my guess the coaching staff told QB Russell Wilson to spike the ball. Shameful.
On the plus side, there is no doubt that Russell Wilson is a top 10 draft pick.
Congratulations to the Oregon Ducks on winning the Rose Bowl- they played and out coached the Wisconsin Badgers.
Any chance my alma mater, Wisconsin, could get another coach to coach the big games Wisconsin is in?

Pawn Stars Review January 2, 2012

Welcome to 2012 and I hope everyone had a nice New Years Eve and Day. I've been enjoying the weather here- upper 60's during the day and 30's at night. You gotta love it.
If you go on the Gold and Silver web site, you may see Chumlee may be coming to your town for a meet and greet. http://www.gspawn.com/
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a Strongbox, Handcuffs and a ball and chain. The ball and chains came from Arizona and the handcuffs came from Folsom Prison. The chains turned out to be arc welded and the balls and chain and the handcuffs had the name of the prison on it, which the prisons did not do, so they were fake. the box was real and Rick offered $400 and the guy wanted $1000 and after some bargaining, the box went for $450. Mark came in after the sale and looked the box over and proclaimed the box was a fake. Not a good deal for the shop, good deal for the guy.
The next guy brought in 1924 Dodge Brother business sedan. The car looks like the old Model T cars. The car needed some work to be done. Time for an expert, Danny from Counts Kustom. http://www.countskustoms.com/ They took the car for a drive and it ran well. Danny thought it was worth $8-10,000 without work on the car. The seller wanted $15,500 and the Old Man offered $7000 and then $7500 and that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in a Terminator (from the movie) slot machine. It's more of a Japanese slot machine. The guy wanted $500 and Corey said $300. The then went to $450 and Corey went to $325 and the selling price was $326.
The next guy brought in a pair 24 inch binoculars that were from about the 1940's. They were made by the Japanese and used on the Island of Guam. The guy wanted $5000 and Rick called for an expert. Bob came in and said the binoculars were worth about $3-4,000. The guy wanted $3000 and Rick offered $2000 and then $2,300 and that was the sale price.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a 1891 Drilling Combination gun. It was a shot gun and rifle combination. The guy wanted $1000 but Rick was concerned about the condition of the rifle. Time ofr an expert, Bob, again. Bob said the gun was made in German. bob said the gun wasn't in great shape and not able to shoot. Bob also said it was from 1891 and was worth $400. The guy then said he wanted $500 and Rick offered $250. No sale because the seller had a sentimental attachment to the gun.
The story line of the day is that they wanted to hire another night shift worker. They said the posted an ad on line. Huh? Is that how employers hire nowadays? Even on their web site, http://www.gspawn.com/, they don't take applications on-line.
Chumlee had the duty to look for a new employee and he failed miserably as no one applied for the job. The ad said there was no address for the shop but most people of Las Vegas knows where the shop is, or they can find out.
The next guy brought in a Police peddle car for kids. It was older as it was made out of metal. The guy wanted
$1000 but Rick said the car is from the year 2000 and not worth much. The car went for $65.
The next guy brought in some antique cast iron kids toy coin banks. The banks have movable parts which shoot the coins into the banks- really cool. Rick was concerned if they were fakes. Time for an expert. Johnny from the Toy Shack came in. http://lasvegastoyshack.com/ and he said they were reproductions because of the quality. Rick offered $100 and there was no sale- the guy wanted to hang on to them.
The next brought in a Vintage Dunhill cigarette lighter which as sold in Switzerland. The lighter had a clock built inside and it worked. The lighter was beat up with a small dent. The guy wanted $2000 and Rick offered $1000 and then $1100 and that was the sale price. The teaser question asked how many lighters are sold in the U.S. The answer said 1 billion, which I find very hard to believe. That's about 3-4 for each man, woman and child and with smoking going down, I find it hard to believe.
That wraps up another week of Pawn Stars. Hope you have a great week and hope to see you back next week.
And if you want to check on an episode, I have reviewed all the episodes, some better than others, so feel free to look around. Thanks.

And Now The Sob Story Begins: Las Vegas Priests Excuses For Stealing

Father Kevin McAuliffe, Las Vegas priest and thief is starting the PR campaign to get a lenient sentence when he is sentenced for theft is about 2 weeks.
From the LVRJ: When Kevin McAuliffe appears in federal court Jan. 13, the Catholic priest's addiction to gambling will be used as an argument for leniency in his sentencing for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his Summerlin parish.
His attorney, Margaret Stanish, has hired an expert who will offer testimony about gambling and his assessment of McAuliffe as a pathological gambler. The expert, Dr. Timothy Fong, is a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles and on the staff of UCLA's Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Human Behavior. He treats problem gamblers with a combination of pharmacology and psychotherapy, trying to rewire brains that can't shake the feeling the next bet is going to yield a big payday.
According to court papers, Fong will tell Mahan that the former monsignor, in addition to being a pathological gambler, suffers from major depression and social anxiety.
Meanwhile, the priest hopes his case sheds light on problem gambling in Nevada -- and that people will get help before the disease takes command of their lives, as it did with his, according to McAuliffe's attorney.....

A WOLF IN PRIEST'S CLOTHING
McAuliffe, 58, was not forced to admit to major theft. He pleaded guilty to three counts of mail fraud, but theft is what he did, and he did it a lot: $650,000 worth.
According to court documents, he stole from the collection basket.
He stole from the votive candle fund.
He stole from the gift shop.
He stole from the church mission fund.
He stole from the general bank account and he wrongly reimbursed himself by claiming he made church-related purchases on his personal credit card when he did not.
Indirectly, McAuliffe stole from every church in the diocese. As second-in-command to Bishop Joseph Pepe, McAuliffe was responsible for controlling finances -- and for giving the diocese 13 percent of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's annual income from the contributions and collections of its more than 10,000 families.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/catholic-priest-s-defense-to-target-gambling-136521993.html
I have no doubt that McAuliffe has a gambling addiction but I think the defense is pushing the other disabilities McAuliffe may have had.
But McAuliffe has been given a huge break, something most of us will never see. He was never charged with State crimes of theft, burglary and maybe even robbery. He could be easily facing life in prison if was convicted in the State court.
But he is charged in Federal court and he probably will serve his sentence in the minimum security prison in Oxford, WI., if he chooses to go back to Wisconsin.
McAuliffe is a thief first and a gambling addict second. McAuliffe is an educated man, he knows right from wrong and he knew where to get treatment.
He is also a good con man. There is no way he could have gotten away with these crimes if he didn't con a few people along the way.
McAuliffe should thank his lucky stars and his place in the community that he wasn't charged with more crimes and that he will be sent out of state to serve whatever sentence there is.

On a side note, one wonders if the Las Vegas Diocese isn't taking this case seriously. They still have his picture of the priest web site and there has been no word if McAuliffe has been defrocked. I suppose maybe they are hoping that McAuliffe will get a short sentence and then when he is released, they will send him to a monastery where he will stay out of trouble.

15-1 Packers Have Another Superstar Quarterback?

Matt Flynn: 480 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The offense is ready for the playoffs. The defense? Well, that may be another story.

What a season, but it doesn't mean anything without a Super Bowl title. But the Packers are still the champions until someone beats them.
