Good: Nun Gets 3 Years In Prison For Protest

From the New York Daily News: An 84-year-old nun was sentenced Tuesday to nearly three years in prison for breaking into nuclear weapons complex and defacing a bunker holding bomb-grade uranium, a demonstration that exposed serious security flaws at the Tennessee plant.
Two other activists who broke into the facility with Megan Rice were sentenced to more than five years in prison, in part because they had much longer criminal histories.
Although officials claimed there was never any danger of the protesters reaching materials that could be detonated or made into a dirty bomb, the break-in raised questions about the safekeeping at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge. The facility holds the nation's primary supply of bomb-grade uranium and was known as the "Fort Knox of uranium."
After the protest, the complex had to be shut down, security forces were re-trained and contractors were replaced.
In her closing statement, Rice asked the judge to sentence her to life in prison, even though sentencing guidelines called for about six years.
"Please have no leniency with me," she said. "To remain in prison for the rest of my life would be the greatest gift you could give me."
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/nun-sentenced-nuclear-weapons-plant-break-in-article-1.1619028#ixzz2tknP4duD
Well, the judge gave her what she wanted, even though her wish is kind of bizarre.
But the nun deserves to be sent to prison as she committed a crime and she is not a harmless little protestor.
And she probably could do more good in prison by counseling the prisoners as opposed to being a pain in the butt protestors who willingly broke the law.

Obama/SandovalCare Train Wreck Continues: Nevada's Turn

From Channel 13 Las Vegas: After an emotional meeting last week, the board overseeing Nevada's health insurance exchange has called for another meeting this week to get an update on problems.
The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange board is set to meet on Friday, Feb. 21, in Carson City. The agenda includes an update from developer Xerox on problems with Nevada Health Link and its call center.
For weeks, frustrated customers have turned to Action News for answers after running into problems. The emotions came to a boil at Thursday's meeting of the state board.
"I chose Nevada Health Link just because I thought it would be easy and it's been anything but that," said Dwayne Martinez in an interview with Action News.
Martinez is self employed. He purchased health insurance for him and his wife in December. Nearly two months later, he said the insurance company still doesn't have his information and his wife needs treatment for skin cancer.
"We're dealing with people's lives," Martinez said. "People can't afford to get health care otherwise."
Rather than use the federal government's system, 16 states and the District of Columbia created their own exchanges. Turns out, Nevada isn't the only place having trouble.
http://www.jrn.com/ktnv/news/you-ask-we-investigate/State-board-calls-for-update-on-problems-with-Nevada-Health-Link-245901641.html
And this story from Channel 13: More than a day after a passionate plea to state officials for help, a Valley man said he is still in limbo over his health insurance.
Lawrence Basich's speech before the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange board on Thursday left some in the audience speechless. He shared more of his story with Action News on Friday.
"All of I sudden, I felt a very, very severe pain in my upper chest," Basich recalled.
Basich said he survived one heart attack but is worried stress over health care will lead to another.
"The application process is probably the worst thing I've ever seen in my life," Basich said.
Like many people, he's fed up with Nevada Health Link.
Basich told state board members on Thursday, "I did everything I had to do according to Nevada Health Link. I paid my payment. You accepted my money. But who's going to take these bills off my hands?"
Basich said he paid his premium in November but never got confirmation from the insurance company that he was covered. When he called the insurance company, he said a representative had no information on his enrollment. On Dec. 31, he said he had a heart attack resulting in multiple hospital visits and more than $400,000 in medical bills.
"I'm not going to pay it. I'm just not going to pay it," Basich said.  http://www.jrn.com/ktnv/news/you-ask-we-investigate/Valley-man-explains-passionate-plea-to-health-exchange-board-245628621.html
When ObamaCare was passed, Gov. Brian Sandoval had a choice:
1.  Use the Federal government web site
2. Create a web site for Nevada and by pass the Feds.
Conservatives like myself pleaded with Sandoval not to create a state web site because of the cost and to put the pressure on the Fed's to produce.
Now, it seems like the Nevada web site, run Xerox, is just as much a failure as the Federal web site, and this is the fault of Gov. Sandoval who insisted on it.
Obviously, the Sandoval administration was not providing enough oversight of Xerox and the health care web site and now people are suffering because of it.
I guess this is what you get when you are a full blown RINO. (Republican In Name Only)
And unfortunately for Sandoval, this will cripple any chance he had to become a vice presidential candidate in 2016 and probably hurt his chance to be the Republican to take on Senile/Liar/Coward Harry Reid in 2016.
And the ObamaCare train wreck continues

How Sad

From jsonline: Stacie Napoli had rituals for every ultrasound she underwent. She held a St. Anthony medal given to her by her mother, prayed to St. Gerard and held a holy card from her grandfather's funeral.
"You've never found anyone who wanted children as much as she did," said her mother, Kerri Livermore.
Napoli, who served in Iraq and was a 17-year veteran of the West Allis Police Department, died Monday just moments after giving birth to twins.
As word spread, the department was inundated with condolences and offers of support. A special fund to help the family had already raised more than $20,000 by Tuesday evening. Many donors had never met Napoli, but were heartbroken.
Napoli, 39, died of a pulmonary embolism — a sudden blockage of a major blood vessel in the lungs, usually by a blood clot — after giving birth by Caesarean section at West Allis Memorial Hospital, according to a medical examiner's report.
The twins, Parker and Ellie, are in intensive care but doing well, said Livermore, of Greenfield. Ellie weighed 2 pounds 4 ounces; Parker weighed 1 pound 15 ounces, she said.
They're a little bigger than your hand, but not much, she said.
Napoli, of Hartland, had been admitted to the hospital on Jan. 22 for preterm labor. A Caesarean section was scheduled for Feb. 16 because of premature labor, at 27 weeks and 1 day. The babies were delivered and, while Napoli was being moved from the operating room, she suffered the embolism, the report said. Her husband, Jeff Pollack, was at her side.
"I just want people to know how good of a person she was," he said Tuesday. "With her job, she took a lot of pride in what she did. She cared about what she did, helping people."
Pulmonary embolism in itself is not rare, according to Karen Domagalski, operations manager in the medical examiner's office. However, pulmonary embolism due to childbirth is rare.

How sad that you go from joy of giving birth to twins and then you die.  Then you have her husband who also went from joy of having 2 cute little babies to having to burying his wife in a matter of moments.
RIP to the mom and prayers to the family, friends and fellow police officers.
And pray for the twins who will need extensive care to survive and life without their mom.

Is This Racist?

web1_UNLVpic_web_0.jpg
From the LVRJ:
A promotional photo for UNLV’s basketball game Wednesday night is being called offensive by many for its depiction of a black New Mexico Lobos player being led on a leash by the Rebels’ mascot, Hey Reb!
Representatives of UNLV’s student section said Tuesday that the photo, which was circulating on social media and being credited by many to UNLV, was not endorsed or posted by anyone officially affiliated with the Rebellion.
“We did not post nor endorse the photo of the African-American player,” a representative of the Rebellion said. “Regardless of the race of the player, no racial intentions were implied by anybody associated with The Rebellion.
“A Lobo is a canine. Hence the leash. We own them in basketball. Therefore, we are walking our dog,” the statement continued.
Zack Peters, the fan who created the photos featuring the Lobos’ former player Jamal Fenton and Cameron Bairstow, told the Review-Journal on Tuesday that the photos were not meant to be racist....
“UNLV Rebellion posted a different photo of a white player on a leash,” he told the RJ. “My mistake was thinking that they posted them both but had deleted the original with a black player.”
http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/uproar-after-unlv-rebellion-accused-posting-racist-photo
I understand the reasoning behind the photo and I don't consider it to be racist, considering the scenario the creator described.
However, there are people who look for racism everywhere you turn.  People like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton come to mind and look for them to come to Las Vegas to protest this photo.
There are 14 players on the Lobo's team and 10 of the players are black, so they got the average New Mexico basketball player.
And if they used the picture of a white player on a leash, would the same people crying racism keep crying racism?  Of course not.
Finally, the New Mexico ex-player, Jamal Fenton, obviously did not think the photo was racist as he volunteered for the picture.
So, if you are the type who goes out of your way to find racism, you will find this photo to be racist, but most people who see this photo will think the photo is clever.
I just wonder how they got Jamal Fenton to take the photo degrading his former team.  Maybe that is who the people from New Mexico should be angry with.

But He Doesn't Care Because It Is All About Him

From Fox News:
A plan by President Obama and fellow Democrats to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would cost roughly 500,000 jobs but increase wages for roughly 16.5 million Americans, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday.
The report was immediately met with sharp Republican criticism for the wake hike plan.
The CBO analysts said their estimate of employment losses was approximate. They said the actual impact could range from a very slight employment reduction to a loss of one million workers.
Increasing the minimum wage has emerged as a key part of Obama’s second-term agenda, with the president restating his intentions just hours before the release of the report, at a public event in suburban Maryland.
The White House was quick to respond to the report, with Jason Furman, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, telling reporters on a conference call,“CBO’s estimate doesn’t reflect the overall consensus view of economists who say [the increase] would have minimum or no impact on employment.”...
Still, Republicans argued the report puts authoritative weight behind their argument that such an increase would cut jobs because companies would have to spend more on wages.
"This report confirms what we've long known,” Boehner’s office said.
The report was released as the Democrat-controlled Senate prepares to debate an Obama-backed proposal to gradually increase the $7.25 hourly minimum wage to $10.10 by 2016.
However, the proposal faces long odds of passing in the GOP-controlled House.

Just another liberal fantasy idea that will hurt more people than it will help.

More ObamaCare Disaster/Train Wreck: Mass.'s Turn

From the Boston Globe:
Bay State hospitals are pushing for a workaround to the state’s disastrous Obamacare website they claim will make it easier for some patients to be assured that they have health insurance.
The Massachusetts Hospital Association wants state officials to institute “hospital presumptive eligibility” — a system that essentially lets the hospitals immediately determine whether a patient in their care is eligible for MassHealth benefits while the state processes their application.
The MHA claims that will assure the patient is covered, as the state scrambles to enroll them.
“MHA strongly believes that if your office works with us to implement such a system, we can collectively provide relief to thousands of vulnerable patients who are, and will be, caught in an unfortunate situation,” the MHA wrote in a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz.
Tim Gens of the MHA told the Herald the workaround would apply mainly to patients who are new to MassHealth and come into play in situations where a patient might need outpatient services after hospital discharge — like rehabilitation centers, mental-health facilities or medications....
Simmering frustration over the botched Obamacare website finally erupted last week when Beacon Hill lawmakers blasted state health officials and Gov. Deval Patrick in particular for the vast system failures that have left thousands in a maddening state of health care limbo.
State officials still have to manually process 50,000 paper applications from Bay Staters applying for health insurance at two hours per application.
Patrick announced two weeks ago that he was hiring Blue Cross Blue Shield exec Sarah Iselin as a central point person to oversee the Obamacare rescue efforts and that Minnesota-based Optum would attempt to repair the broken website, which was built by CGI.  http://bostonherald.com/business/healthcare/2014/02/hospitals_seek_obamacare_cure
If there were a State that would be ahead with everybody else, Massachusetts would be the one as they have had mandatory health insurance for many years, compliments of Mitt Romney.
And taking 2 hours per application, that will take 100,000 man hours to catch up.  That is the equivalent of 4167 man hour days, at 24 hours a day, or 11 man hour years to catch up.
ObamaCare continues to be a crash and burn train wreck.

And We Should Be Surprised By This?

From Philly.com:
Dennis Rodman's basketball diplomacy got kind of pushed out of the news cycle because he hadn't called North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un his best friend for a while, and other things like the Olympics and Michael Sam happened - A-Rod was probably in there somewhere - to distract us.
Let's check in on how Rodman's did in North Korea via The Korea Times:
"...according to a report cited by Free North Korea Radio, [Rodman] was practically forced out of the hermit kingdom for his full-blown drunk and disorderly behavior.
'Rodman was drunk the whole week of his stay. And the night before he left for the U.S., he was drunk unconscious, and vomited everywhere he turned. He even urinated and emptied the bowels in the hallway,' said the source."
Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/pattisonave/Dennis-Rodman-barfs-urinates-defecates-in-Korean-hotel.html#Aud3vVJRJATt0dZ9.99
Good thing he left when he did or he may have found himself in front of a firing squad, which, for the sake of the world, may not be a bad thing.
Well, maybe the punishment for that is a bit overblown, but there is a reason why Rodman is nicknamed the "Worm".
Worms love to eat poop, vomit and eating people who are unconscious or the dead.
Of course, when it comes to Rodman, most worms would probably think better of it and stay away from him as who knows what kind of crap he is carrying around.

What A Strange Guarantee

You would think this came from the satire newspaper, The Onion.
From Philly.com: Last Tuesday, the residents of the small rural community of Bobtown in the far southwestern corner of Pennsylvania woke up to a horrible shock -- the sound of a massive explosion in their backyards. The source of the blast and the intensely hot fire that followed was a Chevron fracking well that had been set to begin production, but instead shot orange flames high into the air and gave off loud hissing sounds that could be heard hundreds of yards away.
John Kuis, 57, of nearby Dilliner
told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that at 6:45 a.m., his dog growled, then the earth rumbled, and finally: "Then the house just sort of shook and there was a big loud bang." Another neighbor told the paper that the fracking explosion "sounded like a jet engine going 5 feet above your house."
It was a horrific event on every level. One worker at the rig was not found and is presumed dead. The fire -- who posed enormous risks to rescue workers and to the surrounding community -- burned intensely for five days before it was finally extinguished. Despite reassurances, neighbors surely worried whether toxins were released in the fiery aftermath....
Pizza, pizza!. OK. actually just...pizza.
Local residents were delivered a note (pictured above), dated Sunday, from the Chevron Community Outreach Team. It states in part:
Chevron recognizes the effect this has had on the community.  We value being a responsible member of this community and will continue to strive to achieve incident-free operations.  We are committed to taking action to safeguard our neighbors, our employees, our contractors and the environment…
Tucked inside the envelope was a gift certificate to Bobtown Pizza, courtesy of Chevron. It entitles the resident to a free large pizza, and before you say something like, “Boy, is that chintzy,” you should know that was just the beginning, that the coupon also entitles the holder to a 2-liter soda.
Is there a catch? Well, sort of – the certificate is good for a "special combo only." Remember, Chevron's yearly profits declined in 2013 and the firm made just barely over $21 billion. You weren't really expected pepperoni, too, were you? (Note: the pizza certificates were first reported by No Fracking Way and Raging Chicken Press -- I called (!!) the pizza shop and confirmed that about 100 of the certificates were distributed by Chevron.)...
On the other hand, I see a possible new marketing campaign for Chevron: We guarantee your fracking rig won't explode, or your pizza is free!
Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/attytood/Chevron-Endure-our-fracking-fire-and-the-pizzas-on-us.html#7V4VI6iAfDrqqcqB.99
Well, I sure hope the pizza the people are getting is really, really good.

Idiots

This image created an online firestorm, with some saying it is insensitive and offensive.
From jsonline:
Outrage erupted across social media Monday after a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard posted a photo on Instagram that appeared to make light of funerals for fallen service members.
The photo depicts a group of soldiers, most smiling or in comedic poses, around a coffin draped with an American flag. The caption accompanying the photo says: "We put the FUN in funeral your fearless honor guard from various states."
People began posting screenshots and comments on the photo on the Wisconsin Army National Guard's Facebook page, prompting Guard officials to begin looking into the matter late Monday afternoon, according to Maj. Paul D. Rickert.
Comments ranged from anger and disgust to outrage and shock, with posters saying fallen soldiers and the American flag are off limits when it comes to humor.
Many also called for charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Rickert confirmed at least one of the people in the photo is a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard who recently took training to become a member of the Funeral Honor Guard unit.
"We take the responsibility given to members with respect to fallen soldiers very seriously and expect all soldiers assigned to (the unit) to perform their duties with honor and respect," Rickert said when reached by phone late Monday.

My guess there is no one in the coffin at the time of the picture.
Even so, to publicize the pictures was a stupid idea.

Obama Economy: Almost 1000 Jobs Lost In Wisconsin, Midwest

From Madison.Com: American TV & Appliance, a Madison Beltline mainstay for the past 60 years, announced Monday it was closing , putting nearly 1,000 employees at 11 locations in three states out of work.
Doug Reuhl, president and CEO of American since 1988, blamed an “unforgiving economy,” especially over the past five years, for the closure and said the Madison-based company would begin a going-out-of-business sale Thursday to liquidate its entire inventory of furniture, electronics and appliances.
“While this is a sad moment, it is also a proud moment,” Reuhl said in a news release. “It’s a moment to be proud of our efforts and to be proud of what we have delivered to the community.”
A switchboard operator at American TV refused to answer additional questions Monday or transfer a reporter to anyone else, noting the company had decided not to provide any additional information, including how many jobs will be lost in Madison.
But court papers filed Monday in Dane County Circuit Court cited 696 American TV employees in Wisconsin, along with 114 in Illinois and 159 in Iowa, for a total of 969 full- and part-time employees. The receivership petition also said the company had assets with a total net book value of $72.56 million, compared with total liabilities of $54.7 million, with the assets’ fair value — or the amount they could be sold for — listed as “unknown” but worth less than the book value.

I grew up listening to TV and watching Crazy TV Lenny and I had bought many items at their stores.
But the Obama economy is not improving despite what the media and liberals say.  The true unemployment rate is still sky high, most, if not all of Obama's economic policies have been failures and ObamaCare is killing the economy.
Yes, if you are a single issue person, you may like Obama but those of us who were not hoodwinked by Obama, are not very impressed by his lack of common knowledge of the economy, healthcare, national security, armed forces and many other of Obama's ideas.
That is why he is the worst and most incompetent president ever in the history of United States.

Don't Do As I Do, Do As I Say: Obama/Kerry Version

From Time: President Barack Obama traveled to California on Friday to highlight the state’s drought emergency at two events near Fresno, calling for shared sacrifice to help manage the state’s worst water shortage in decades. He then spent the rest of the weekend enjoying the hospitality of some of the state’s top water hogs: desert golf courses.
Vacationing with DVDs of his favorite television shows and multiple golf outings with his buddies, the duffer in chief played at two of the most exclusive courses in the Palm Springs area. On Saturday, Obama played at the Sunnylands estate, built by the late billionaire Walter Annenberg, which features a nine-hole course that is played like 18 holes. The following day he golfed at billionaire Oracle founder Larry Ellison’s 19-hole Porcupine Creek. On Presidents’ Day, Obama hit the links at Sunnylands once again.
The 124 golf courses in the Coachella Valley consume roughly 17% of all water there, and one-quarter of the water pumped out of the region’s at-risk groundwater aquifer, according to the Coachella Valley Water.

And then there is this:
From National Review Online:
Secretary of State John Kerry spent his weekend discussing climate change in Indonesia:
“We should not allow a tiny minority of shoddy scientists and science and extreme ideologues to compete with scientific facts,” Kerry told the audience gathered at a U.S. Embassy-run American Center in a Jakarta shopping mall. “Nor should we allow any room for those who think that the costs associated with doing the right thing outweigh the benefits.”
This is part of a six-day Kerry trip through Seoul, South Korea; Beijing, China; Jakarta; Indonesia; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, then back to Washington.
In case you’re wondering, flying first class from Washington to Seoul to Beijing to Jakarta to Abu Dhabi and then back to Washington runs up roughly 12.16 metric tons of carbon dioxide, according to CarbonFootprint.com, which uses data from the EPA and Department of Energy.
The average American generates about 19 tons of carbon dioxide in a year.
So in one week, just from flying from meeting to meeting, Kerry generated about two-thirds the carbon output of the average American in one year.
http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/371280/kerry-generates-12-tons-co2-trip-discussing-climate-change-jim-geraghty
If these two useful idiots actually believed in climate change/global warming, why do they create so much pollution themselves?  If there is such a drought in California, why does Obama go golfing there?
And how did Obama get to California?  In a Prius?  Of course not, he went in Air Force 1, a fuel guzzling 747 with all the bells and whistles on it.
If Obama truly believed in human caused climate change, why did vacation in Hawaii and then Mr. and Mrs. Obama took separate flights home?
So, if Obama and Kerry don't cut down on their pollution, why should anybody else?

What Do You Get When You Have An Election Between A RINO and A Conservative democrat?

From the LVRJ: Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, said Monday he won’t run against incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval.
Sisolak said the timing isn’t right and he’s still more interested in leading the commission. In addition, it would be difficult to catch up to Sandoval’s fund-raising as the governor took in $3 million in 2013, he said.
“Now is just not the right time for me,” Sisolak, 60, said in an interview. “I did all of my due diligence, a lot of research and polling and talked to my family. I just decided that the timing is not right. I love my job and I’ve got a lot I want to do still.”
The Democratic Party has yet to field a top-tier candidate to take on Sandoval, 50, who’s running for re-election with an approval rating between 50 percent and 60 percent in recent polls.
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid-D-Nev., and other top Democrats had been encouraging Sisolak to run.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/clark-county-commissioner-steve-sisolak-won-t-run-governor
It would have been an interesting race between a conservative Democrat in Sisolak and RINO Brian Sandoval.   I think Sisolak could have beaten Sandoval.
But then there is laugher courtesy of Sick Tick Segerblom:
Last week, state Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, said he doubted he would run for governor, mostly because he hadn’t received backing from top Democrats. Segerblom, who is midway through a four-year term, could change his mind now.
“I don’t think I’ll be in the governor’s race this year,” Segerblom, 65, said last week. “The powers that be are conspicuously silent when I bring the subject up.”
Well, Sick Tick, the leaders of the Democrat Party are not stupid, you would have been embarrassingly beaten by Sandoval and many Democrats would have stayed home.
And finally, there is this:
So far, only little-known candidates have expressed interest in running for governor. They include Democrat Chris Hyepock and Frederick Conquest, a professor at the College of Southern Nevada, who has said he’ll likely run as a Democrat, after abandoning an independent run since he didn’t collect enough signatures to meet an early February deadline.
Perennial candidate Eddie Hamilton is running in the GOP primary against Sandoval. And David VanDerBeek is running under the Independent American Party banner.
How sad is it in the Nevada Democratic Party that they cannot come up with a credible candidate for governor when registered Democrats substantially out number registered Republicans?
For me, as a protest vote, I just might vote for the Independent American Party to voice my displeasure with Sandoval.

Cool

From ESPN: Kevin Grow, a high school senior with Down syndrome who lives in the Philadelphia area, has been signed by the Philadelphia 76ers to a ceremonial two-day contract.
Grow scored 14 points including three 3-pointers and a buzzer beater over the final two games of the varsity season after Bensalem High School coaches put him, the team's four-year manager, in the lineup.
As a two-day member of the Sixers, Grow will get a custom jersey and participate in pregame activities prior to the team's home game Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Grow will stand with the team during the national anthem and his Bensalem teammates will join him in a special presentation prior to the 7 p.m. ET tip-off.  http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10473641/kevin-grow-signs-two-day-deal-philadelphia-76ers
It will be interesting to see if the game is a blow out game and see if they put him in.  He'll work just as hard as the big boys.
It brings to mind this story from baseball: In perhaps his most outrageous stunt, St. Louis Browns president Bill Veeck sends a midget to bat. Eddie Gaedel, all of 3-foot-7, pops out of a giant-sized cake and a few minutes later is sent up to pinch-hit for the Browns' leadoff hitter in the home first inning in the second game of a doubleheader against Detroit.
When "No. 1/8, Eddie Gaedel, batting for Saucier" is announced over the loudspeaker, home-plate umpire Ed Hurley points to the Browns dugout. Manager Zack Taylor hands Hurley the official American League contract for the 26-year-old stuntman from Chicago.
Tigers left-hander Bob Cain walks Gaedel on four pitches (all high, naturally). Replaced by a pinch-runner, Gaedel bows and doffs his cap repeatedly, to the delight of a paid crowd of 18,369.
"For a minute, I felt like Babe Ruth," Gaedel says after the game.   http://espn.go.com/classic/s/moment010819-gaedel-midget.html

Another Lie Broken

I know it sounds like a broken record, but here is another Obama lie exposed:
View image on Twitter

Yeah, he reversed so much that he did a 360 and now he is one doing all the executive orders when the spoiled brat doesn't get his way.

That's One Hell Of A Party

From the Minot Daily News: Sixty-four people were charged for underage drinking, detox or disorderly conduct early Sunday after police responded to a call about a loud party in northwest Minot.
According to a press release, officers initially attempted to make contact at the residence, but no one would answer the door. Police then obtained a search warrant and searched the residence.
The press release said 27 juveniles and 37 adults were arrested, with six of the adults being placed in the Ward County Jail due to their level of intoxication. There were 71 charges. The 17-year-old girl who hosted the party was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol and disorderly conduct.  http://www.minotdailynews.com/page/content.detail/id/592309/Loud-party-results-in-arrest-of-64-people.html?nav=5010
It used to be the parents would handle the drunk kids, but no more, it's the cops who are doing the parents work.

They Were Just A Bit Off

Well, the Farmers Almanac is just a wee bit off this year so far.

And the South, they were pretty close:  FEBRUARY 2014: temperature 43° (4° below avg.); precipitation 4" (1" below avg.); Feb 1-6: Rain, then sunny, cold; Feb 7-11: Snow north, rain south, then sunny, cold; Feb 12-19: Rain, then sunny, cool; Feb 20-25: Rain, then sunny north; rainy periods south; cool; Feb 26-28: Snow north, rain south; cold.  http://www.almanac.com/weather/longrange/region/us/8
Not bad for publishing this way ahead of the actual dates and I am pretty sure more accurate than the real weather forecasters.

From the Marshfield Herald: Thousands of homeowners are being asked to leave their faucets running 24 hours a day to prevent water pipes and sewer lines from freezing.
Abbotsford, Greenwood and Medford officials are among central Wisconsin communities asking all water utility customers to run water 24 hours a day, seven days a week to prevent pipes from freezing.
Residents are asked to run one faucet anywhere in their home with a continuous stream of water about the size of a pencil until further notice.
Water bills will be adjusted based on historic usage as required by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, according to a news release issued Monday by the city of Abbotsford. During this period, Medford residents will be billed based on a six-month water/sewer use average, according to the city’s website. Greenwood customers also will receive an adjustment on their utility bills, according to the city’s website.
Extreme cold weather has caused frost depths greater than seven feet in paved areas and areas where snow has been removed. This is near the depth of water mains and sewer laterals, which could freeze if water is not run continuously. http://www.marshfieldnewsherald.com/article/20140217/MNH01/302170219/Abbotsford-Medford-residents-being-asked-run-water-continuously  I wonder how they are burying people in cemeteries, or maybe they are waiting for warmer weather in August.

Pawn Stars Review: February 13, 2014

Again, sorry for the late post.  Just haven't had the time.
In the first episode, the story line of the day is Chumlee wanting a pay advance to buy a new TV to watch the "Big Game", or the Super Bowl.
poster, robot, roosevelt, rough riders, boilerplate
The first guy brought in a piece of the flag that was carried by Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill.  http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-battle-of-san-juan-hill
It was the company flag, not the Star and stripes flag.  There was no special paperwork with it.  The guy wanted $8000 and time for an expert, "The Beard of Knowledge" Mark.  Mark thought the flag didn't go up the hill because they walked up the hill and they didn't bring the flag up.  Rick didn't make an offer so there was no sale.
Vintage 1942 Dr. Pyle's Foot Oscillator or Massager
The next lady brought in a Vipedex Foot Oscillator, basically a foot massager.  Antwan, the security guard gave it a try and it worked and he loved it.  The lady wanted $1500 and Chumlee offered $50 and was firm.  That was the sale price. Chumlee and Corey were caught using the massager. Finally, the Old Man was using it.
Davey Deals came in and brought in some memorabilia of Grizzly Adams.
http://grizzlyadams.com/  This included a lunch box, some toys and a TV guide with autographs.  Davey wanted $500 and Rick offered $150 and then $200 and that was the deal.
Vintage Marx TIN LITHO WIND UP ARMY TANK TOY
The next lady brought in some old Marx Company tin toys.  http://www.marxmuseum.com/
The lady got these in a will from her grandfather.  There were 2 tanks and a couple of cars from Dick Tracy.  The lady wanted $500 and Corey wanted an expert, Johnny.  Johnny said they were American made and in fairly good shape and worth $600.  Corey offered $350 and that was the deal- no haggling.
In the 2nd episode, Rick's back was hurting him (I know his pain- with about 6 bulging disks and a few other problems)  Corey offered up this gem up "you need to go to the doctor to get a sot of "be a man".
Chumlee gave Rick a large rubber ball because of ergonomics.
The first guy brought in a signed check of Babe Ruth to buy some seats at the World Series.  http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/ruthba01.shtml
The check price was $481.70.  The guy had a letter of authenticity.  The authenticity was done already by Steve Grad, a regular on the show.  The guy wanted $10,000.  Rick still called Steve to get a price.  Steve came in with a lot of bling on.  He said the $10,000 was a high price.  He didn't know if the check was not or tickets.  He thought it was worth about $4000 and the guy wanted $7000, then $5000.  Rick  offered $2500 and that was the deal.
Civil War Navy buttons Waterbury Button Co
The next lady brought in a Civil War Navy buttons.  It was the from the Union navy.  The lady wanted $1300.  Time for an expert, Mark.  Mark said the buttons were real and from the Civil War.  According to Mark, there are button collectors.  Button collectors?  Seriously?  Corey offered $200 and $400, then $500 and that was the selling price.
Kind of strange.  In 1 part of the show, Corey had a full beard and other parts of the show, he was clean shaven.
top down
Rick and Chumlee went on the road to 1966 Ford Econline camper van.  Chumlee didn't really like it an d it did need some work.  The guy wanted $5500 and Rick didn't make an offer.  No sale.
That ends another 2 new episodes.  Thanks for stopping by and next week we will have 2 new episodes.

Another Stupid Christian

From the New York Daily News:
A snake-handling TV preacher died on Saturday of a snake bite.
Pastor Jamie Coots, the star of “Snake Salvation,” was bitten on the right hand at his Kentucky church, Middlesborough police said.
The Pentecostal holy man refused to go to the hospital or accept any medical treatment, police said.
Coots, whose show appeared on National Geographic’s television channel, believed snake handling was a commandment from God and a viper’s bite was God’s will.
“When I first started church I said if I ever went to a hospital or a doctor over a snake bite I would quit church,” Coots said in one episode.
He had previously survived a bite that cost him most of the middle finger on his right hand. Instead seeking medical attention for the gruesome injury, he let it rot to black, exposing a quarter inch of bone before it broke off.
He kept the stub of the finger in a glass jar for his wife.
“To me it’s as much of a commandment from God when he said, ‘they shall take up serpents’ as it was when he ‘thou shall not commit adultery,” Coots said on the show of snake handling....
Coots was just as resolute on Saturday, according to police.
Cops and medical crews were called about 8:30 p.m. to a church for reports of a snakebite victim, but Coots had already left, police said.
They later found Coots at home and tried to talk him into medical treatment, but he wouldn’t accept it. The crews finally left about 9:10 p.m.
They returned about an hour later with the Bell County deputy coroner and found Coots dead.

This reminds me of a joke I saw a few years ago:  A man was in a terrible flood and was forced to go the roof of hi house.  Hw said God will protect me.
A rescuer came by in a boat and the man said "God will save me" and so the rescuer left.
Another rescuer came by in his boat and asked the man to go with him and the man relied: "God will save me".  And so the rescuer left.
Then the flood got worse and the man died in the flood by drowning and when the man went to heaven, he asked God why he didn't save him and God replied "I sent you two boats and rescuers, so why didn't you use them?".
So, in the case of the pastor snake handler, God provided him with medical care in the local emergency rooms an he chose not to use them.
I have no sympathy for him or his family.

"When I Hit 22, I Stopped Counting,"

Well, she apparently only needed to count 1 more before being caught.
From the Chicago Tribune: The FBI said on Sunday it was in contact with local police in the case of Miranda Barbour, who is charged with murdering a Pennsylvania man she lured via the website Craigslist and reportedly admits to the killing and at least 22 other slayings.
Barbour, 19, could face the death penalty in connection with the murder of the 42-year-old man who answered her bogus ad offering sex for $100, authorities said.
In a jailhouse interview, Barbour said she was part of a satanic cult and had no remorse for her victims, according to an article published in Saturday's edition of the Daily Item newspaper in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

She admitted that she and her husband stabbed and strangled Troy LaFerrara in Sunbury in November because "he said the wrong things."
Barbour also said she had killed at least 22 people in different parts of the country, including Alaska, California, Texas and North Carolina.
"When I hit 22, I stopped counting," she said in the article on the paper's website.
"I can pinpoint on a map where you can find them," she said.
The FBI said on Sunday in a statement that its Philadelphia division "has recently been in contact with the Sunbury Police Department regarding Miranda Barbour, and will offer any assistance requested in the case."

My guess is that this is a planned strategy for a mental illness defense instead of being a tale of a murderous tramp.

What A Stupid Challenge

From the LVRJ: Three Square food bank recently challenged the Southern Nevada community to participate in a food budget program to raise awareness about the struggles and challenges of Supplemental Food Assistance Program recipients.
The SNAP Experience, which took place Jan. 27-31, encouraged more than 100 participants to eat a healthy and balanced diet on a budget of $3.71 per day or $18.55 for five days.
“We wanted people to see what it was like to be a SNAP recipient,” said Brian Burton, president and CEO of Three Square. “Most people don’t understand that one in seven Americans rely on SNAP in order to feed their families. This experience really opens people’s eyes to that reality.”
SNAP is a federal nutrition program that assists approximately 47 million people in the United States with financial resources to purchase food at grocery stores.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/view/sunrise/participants-eat-371-day-get-taste-living-assistance
What does SNAP stand for? Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The food stamp program is supplement a person's food budget, not be the only source for a person's food.
Plus, people can get free food from food banks, family, neighbors and friends.  They also can get food from their local Church and other sources.
Hell, they may be able to get a job or save some of their welfare and other government sources of income to help pay for their food.
So, this is a fake story and a fake challenge by 3 Square.  Even those on Food Stamps can spend more than $3.71 a day and if they do only receive on $3.71 a day, then they are extremely stupid or lazy.

Big Union Loses Big

I am not surprised by the vote.
From Bloomberg: The United Auto Workers could be forced to reconsider its efforts to organize at foreign-owned factories in the U.S., a labor expert said, as the union vowed to keep fighting after losing a closely watched vote at Volkswagen AG (VOW)’s Tennessee plant.
Workers in Chattanooga voted 712-626 on Feb. 14 against joining the UAW after three days of balloting that drew intense opposition from elected officials. The company didn’t fight the UAW campaign, which may have cost as much as $5 million and lasted more than two years, said Gary Chaison, a labor law professor at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
A victory would have added momentum as the UAW seeks to sign up workers at a Daimler AG factory in Vance, Alabama, and other foreign automakers, known as transplants, that settled in the U.S. South to take advantage of tax breaks, non-union labor and easy access to market. Now the UAW must regroup, he said.
“This is a time for soul-searching at the UAW and within the American labor movement,” Chaison said yesterday in an interview. “This was the ideal situation and they know that. They might just give up on transplants.”
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-02-16/auto-union-seen-regrouping-after-loss-at-volkswagen-plant.html
There is very little to be gained to by joining a union and having a union shop.  The workers would have to pay a lot of money in union dues to support the lavish lifestyles of the union leaders and the workers get very little in return.

John Kerry Shows He Is Just As Stupid As Obama

From Bloomberg: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said global warming is as big a threat as terrorism in a speech in Indonesia, the world’s largest exporter of coal for power plants, seeking to burnish his credential as a climate champion before deciding on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project.
Speaking yesterday in the capital of Jakarta, the last stop on his three-nation Asia tour, Kerry called on the international community -- nations and individuals -- to do more now as addressing climate change required a global solution. The speech came against the backdrop of the eruption of the Mount Kelud volcano that disrupted air travel in the region and forced the cancellation of Kerry’s planned meeting today with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.  http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-02-16/kerry-burnishes-his-green-badge-in-asia-ahead-of-keystone-call.html
Global Warming is just as bad as terrorism?  Seriously?  Try telling that to the survivors and relatives of those died in the 9-11 terrorist attacks or those who have suffered from losses from terrorism around the world.
About the only smart thing John Kerry ever did was to marry into a rich family because he is too damn stupid to anything else.

New Poll Questions

I have put up 3 new poll questions up on your left side for your pleasure and see how you feel.
The first question is who is the worst president of the United States?
2nd Question is should the #3 car in the NASCAR Sprint Car series, that used to belong to Dale Earnhardt Sr., a 7 time NASCAR champion and who died at the Daytona 500 in 2001, be given to rookie Austin Dillion?  Dillion is the grandson of team owner, Richard Childress and Childress owns the rights to the #3 car.
And the 3rd question is, Are you watching the Winter Olympics in Russia?
Please take your time and take the survey and show us how you feel.
Thanks

Are You Watching The Olympics?

The Olympics are going on in Russia right now and I am not watching them... again.
I used to watch the Olympics, both the Summer and Winter games back in the 10970's-90's.  The main reason is because back then, most of the Olympians were amateurs, or at least on paper.
There were also good battles going on between the Soviet Union and the Eastern Block vs the West and the United States.  It made for exciting matches and games.  The Miracle on Ice and the USA vs Soviet Union basketball game in which the Soviet Union stole a basketball game in the final seconds in 1972 from the United States in one of the most horribly rigged game of any kind in the history of sporting events.
Now, in hockey and basketball, the players play against or with each in the NHL and the NBA.  Then they go back and play for the country and for me the bitter rivalry just isn't there, like in the 70's and 80's.
And for some reason, the United States have decided not to pursue the Olympics and so that removes some more excitement for me.
Finally, NBC and it's sister stations for some reason are showing a lot of curling... curling!
So, no thank you for watching the Olympics this year and the other Olympics.

Number 3 On The Pole At Daytona

From ESPN: With the famed No. 3 on his car and memories of the late Dale Earnhardt fresh in his mind, Austin Dillon took the fabled number out of hibernation and straight to the top at Daytona.
Dillon reawakened the days of The Intimidator and proved he can handle the spotlight thrust on his ride in the 3, winning the pole Sunday for the season-opening Daytona 500.
He took the top spot with a lap at 196.019 mph in NASCAR's season opener in a car Richard Childress has refused to field at NASCAR's top level since Earnhardt's fatal accident on the last lap of the 2001 race.
But with his 23-year-old grandson ready to move to the Sprint Cup Series, Childress allowed Dillon to use the number widely associated with the seven-time champion. Earnhardt won 67 races, six championships and the 1998 Daytona 500 driving the No. 3.
Dillon was a kid when he posed for a picture with Earnhardt in Victory Lane following his breakthrough 1998 win.
He'll have many more memories from this milestone, like the congratulatory handshake he received from Richard Petty when qualifying ended.
NASCAR's family roots run deep, so Childress never had to leave the family tree to find the right driver for the number.  http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/10466782/austin-dillon-puts-no-3-pole-daytona-500
I have mixed feelings: I think the #3 should have been retired by NASCAR when Dale Sr. died in Daytona.  And the number certainly should not go to a rookie.
But then Richard Childress owns the number and he should be able to do with it as he pleases, because after all, it's just a number.
In the end, I think whoever uses the number should earn it and not go to some rookie who happens to be the grandson of the owner of the team.

Another Senate Win For The GOP

It's looking more and more likely that the GOP will take over the U.S. Senate in 2014.  Whether they doing anything with their majority remains to be seen.
From the Detroit Free Press: When Michigan votes as a state, in recent history, it selects Democrats, not Republicans, for federal office. So why does it suddenly seem Terri Lynn Land has an edge in the race for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat this fall?
Only months ago, Democrats were chiding Land — a Republican former secretary of state who all but wrapped up her party’s nomination when she entered the race — as a second-tier candidate to replace Sen. Carl Levin.
But recently, it has been Land, not her presumptive Democratic opponent — three-term U.S. Rep. Gary Peters of Bloomfield Township — who has been hearing good news: Polls have her slightly ahead, though within the margin of error, and she out-raised Peters in the last three months of 2013.  http://www.freep.com/article/20140216/NEWS06/302160024/terri-lynn-land-michigan-senate
If Michigan goes GOP in the Senate and the Senate turns GOP, there is only group to blame: President Obama and the Democrats and narrowing it down, ObamaCare is too blame.

Why They Are The Best Of The Web

From the Best of the Web:
So what are Fournier's complaints about ObamaCare? For one, "the White House has politicized its signature policy." This criticism is right on target: "The win-at-all-cost mentality helped create a culture in which a partisan-line vote was deemed sufficient for passing transcendent legislation." But did Fournier just figure that out this week? The House's partisan vote for ObamaCare took place almost four years ago; the Senate's, more than four years ago.
Fournier goes on to criticize Obama for employing "a dishonest talking point" when "he knew, or should have known, it was false"; for a "website that didn't work" as a result of "an epidemic of incompetence that began in the Oval Office and ended with no accountability"; and for "fudging numbers and massaging facts to promote implementation," which he allows is "nothing illegal or even extraordinary for this era of spin."
"Finally," he writes, "there are the ACA rule changes":
Advocates for a strong executive branch, including me, have given the White House a pass on its rule-making authority, because implementing such a complicated law requires flexibility. But the law may be getting stretched to the point of breaking. Think of the ACA as a game of Jenga: Adjust one piece and the rest are affected; adjust too many and it falls.
If not illegal, the changes are fueling suspicion among Obama-loathing conservatives, and confusion among the rest of us. Even the law's most fervent supporters are frustrated.
So Fournier has gone from practicing "accountability journalism" to giving "the White House a pass." But be warned: He's so confused and frustrated that he could revoke the pass any day now.
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303704304579381002901715962?mg=reno64-wsj&url=http%3A%2F%2Fonline.wsj.com%2Farticle%2FSB10001424052702303704304579381002901715962.html
There are really few people, other that Democrat elected officials, who defend ObamaCare and all the lies, fraud and law changes that President Obama is guilty of.
No one can really defend ObamaCare without lying.  Even Obama cannot make the argument that ObamaCare was good, as it passed by Congress.  He had to resort to lies and executive orders to help the law to continue.
ObamaCare has been a total disaster, with higher insurance costs rather than cuts in insurance costs, there are many more people uninsured from ObamaCare than those who have signed up and Obama illegally changing the law as he sees fit.
It really has been a:

The End Of Cursive Writing?

There has been a debate at our high school whether we are at the end of cursive writing.
It seems that cursive writing is not being taught in the elementary schools, at least in the Las Vegas area.
The reasoning:
Computers
Computer writing programs
It really is not needed
It takes time to teach it
Nevada proficiency exams don't require cursive writing, so there is no point in teaching cursive writing in Nevada.
Soon, it will join the ranks of using checks as a method of payment- rarely ever used.
What a shame that cursive writing will soon go the way of the Dodo bird.

Holder/Obama Give Hearts And Hugs To Illegals And Murderers

From the El Paso Times: The lawyer for an alleged Barrio Azteca gang leader criticized the government's use of cash, legal immigrant status, reduced sentences and other incentives for witnesses, including to admitted killers, in order for them to testify in the trial of Arturo "Farmero" Gallegos Castrellon.
During closing arguments Friday, defense lawyer Randolph Ortega said the combined cash payments alone to at least three witnesses amounted to nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
Gallegos, who faces up to life in prison, pleaded not guilty. The federal jury that sat through the two-week trial returned a guilty verdict Friday on all the counts against him.
George C. Harris, a prominent lawyer in San Francisco, said in a 2000 article for the Pepperdine Law Review, "Testimony for Sale: The Law and Ethics of Snitches and Experts," that "one of every five federal defendants receives a sentencing reduction for 'substantial assistance' to the government, which is just one form of compensation that prosecutors can offer to cooperating witnesses."
"The impact of compensated witnesses on civil and criminal trials is often significant and sometimes pivotal," wrote Harris, who was unavailable for comment late Friday. "Occasionally, it can result in dramatic miscarriages of justice," he said in the law review article.  http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_25155061/defense-alleges-that-purchased-testimony-was-part-governments
Yeah, the government always gave incentives for testimony against thugs.  But using cash and immigration status for testimony?  Do we really want illegals involved in murders and their families be given citizenship?
Umm, nope.  But Obama and Holder want those future Democrat voters.

Blast From The Past: Jackson Browne

And Bruce Springsteen and Browne:

Another Democrat Going To Prison

They probably have enough Democrats in prison now, that they can have their own prison.  Former incompetent mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin will soon be undergoing a full body and cavity search.
From WBRZ.com: Jurors returned a guilty verdict against former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin Wednesday in his federal corruption trial.
The jury made the announcement after just over six hours of deliberation, according to WDSU in New Orleans.
Nagin faced a 21-count indictment and was found guilty of 20. The jury returned a "not guilty" verdict for one charge of bribery.
Prosecutors said he took hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from people doing business with the city. Defense attorneys argued the case was built on lies and the testimony of businessman who made plea deals for lighter sentences.
Sentencing has been set for June 11. The judge ordered Nagin into home detention until he could be sentenced.  http://www.wbrz.com/news/jurors-found-nagin-guilty-of-corruption-bribery
Nagin and the governor of Louisiana at the time,  Kathleen Babineaux Blanco are the people sole responsible for the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, not President George Bush as the liberals try to point out.
So, if you believe in karma, Nagin got his after causing so many people to die and get hurt during the hurricane.
Hopefully, he will rot in prison for a long time.

ObamaCare Train Wreck: Only 31 People In Nevada Signs Up For ObamaCare

TrainWreck1Final
Wow, how bad is ObamaCare in Nevada? Only 31 suckers idiots morons people signed up for ObamaCare in January 2014.
31?  At least 31 people in Nevada sign up for porn in Nevada... probably in a day. And ObamaCare can only get 31 people?  What a disaster and Obama and Gov. Brian Sandoval are solely responsible. for the disaster.

Interesting: Hunter Ripped Off

Rick Vukasin
From the Reno Gazette Journal:
A big-game hunter from Montana is suing a Canadian outfitter and a world-renowned hunting guide in Tajikistan he accuses of turning his once-in-a-lifetime adventure of bagging a rare, wild argali sheep known as the “Marco Polo” into a nightmare.
Rick Vukasin said in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Reno last week that he spent more than $50,000 pursuing the animal in the Pamir mountains of northeast Tajikistan near China’s border in December 2012.
The 65-year-old electrician said he felt like he was literally on top of the world after he tracked, shot and killed a 400-pound, big-horned ram with the coveted, spiraling horns at an elevation of 14,000 feet. But he was mortified two months later when he opened up the box shipped to his home in Great Falls to find the horns were not the 58-inch-long ones from his trophy animal.
“I could tell right away,” Vukasin told the Associated Press. “I was sick.”
“I’ve been fighting them more than a year. I finally got fed up and decided to do something about it,” he said, adding he’s convinced others have been victimized. “I have this stuff sitting in my living room and every time I look at the horns, I just get that much more mad.”...
Vukasin said Ameri-Cana co-owner Dan Frederick dismissed his concerns, telling him “it’s just hunting.”
“Granted,” Vukasin said, “you can have bad weather or you might not see any animals or you might miss the shot. That’s hunting.
“But to shoot the animal and take pictures of it and then not to get it, somebody has to be responsible.” http://www.rgj.com/viewart/20140215/LIV08/302150038/Hunter-sues-Reno-over-alleged-fraudulent-big-game-hunt
I'm not  hunter, but I can tell this guy got ripped off from a hunt of a life time.
The article doesn't say why he didn't take the horns home right away and if he was able to keep the meat.

PowerBall Jackpot $400,000,000

Lottery fever is hitting gain but...
With a jackpot of about $330,000,000, it barely got recognized in the news.
Tonight, no one won the jackpot, so now the jackpot will be $400,000,000.

If you live in Las Vegas, don't bother going to Primm for your tickets- you will just get a long line.
Go to Arizona, over the Hoover Dam and visit the Last Chance bar and grill, Rosie's or go to Dolan Springs and you will find small lines.  And if you go to the Last Chance, you can also fire some guns, including machine guns.
And if you win, I do take donations.

Green Energy Making Brown Birds

From Fox News:  I always wondered why the homeless hang out by solar panel parks: Free roasted bird.
From Fox News: A stretch of the Mojave Desert has been transformed by hundreds of thousands of mirrors into the largest solar power plant of its type in the world, but the milestone is being met with criticism from environmental groups concerned about the effect of solar energy on desert wildlife.
The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, sprawling across roughly 5 square miles of federal land near the California-Nevada border, formally opened Thursday after years of regulatory and legal tangles ranging from relocating tortoises to assessing the impact on plants.
The $2.2 billion complex of three generating units, owned by NRG Energy Inc., Google Inc. and BrightSource Energy, can produce nearly 400 megawatts — enough power for 140,000 homes. It began making electricity last year....
The system, however, is coming under scrutiny from some environmentalists because of growing evidence the technology is scorching birds that fly through the intense heat surrounding the towers, which can reach 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, The Wall Street Journal reported.
BrightSource reported finding dozens of dead birds at the plant over the past several months, with some having singed or burned feathers, according to federal biologists and documents filed with the California Energy Commission, the Journal reported. State and federal regulators are currently conducting a two-year study of the Ivanpah plant's effects on birds.
Meanwhile, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists are voicing concerns about BrightSource's plan for a second large-scale solar farm in Riverside County, which also has the potential to produce intense heat that could kill golden eagles and other protected wildlife.
And so, this is what should happen to any of the birds that have been roasted by the supposedly clean energy:

Good News For Downtown Las Vegas

From the Las Vegas Sun: The Las Vegas Wranglers are heading to the city’s very core, the famous hotel at 1 Main Street.
Wranglers President Billy Johnson said today that Las Vegas’ entrant in the ECHL has reached an agreement with owners of the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas to play its home games in a leased facility to be built on that property for five years beginning with the 2014-15 season in October.
The yet-unnamed venue will seat about 3,500 fans, though its final design might change that figure. It will be built on the fifth-level pool and event deck of the resort, on existing space connecting the two hotel towers. Fans would park at the Plaza parking garage or in the hotel’s surface lot, and there is access to that space from both towers.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2014/feb/14/wranglers-search-new-home-vegas-ends-plaza/
This is a win-win for both the casino and the Wranglers.
The Plaza wins by getting more people downtown and to their casino/hotel.
The Wranglers win by gaining a new site that will be brand name casino and a more intimate setting.
So, congratulations to the Las Vegas Wranglers and the Paza or striking a deal now.

Cops Kill Man, Stay Quiet About It

From the LVRJ: A man is dead following an altercation with a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and Bureau of Land Management rangers near Calico Basin in the Red Rock National Conservation Area on Friday, but authorities released few details about how the incident unfolded.
It started about 11:45 a.m. after cyclists riding on state Route 159 reported an altercation with a pedestrian, described as a black man in his 20s, according to Trooper Loy Hixson.
A trooper and two rangers responded and at some point during the encounter Hixson said the officers “felt their lives were in danger,” but didn’t say whether the man had a weapon.
No officers were injured, and the man who was shot died, Hixson said. The man had been carrying a rolling suitcase, a backpack and a bedroll. The items were left on the side of the road as police investigated.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/trooper-rangers-felt-their-lives-were-danger-red-rock-shooting
Most cop shootings in the Las Vegas area are justified.
However, when the cops stay silent about the shootings, one must wonder if the cops are hiding something.
Some questions that need to be answered:
Was there a weapon with the suspect?
Did the suspect put a fight so bad that the cops felt threatened?
Did the cops try a non lethal weapon, like a taser or bean bag gun
What did he do to the bikers who called the cops on him?
Was anybody threatened besides the cops before they shot him?
How many officers fired their weapons and how many did not?
These are some important questions that the Park Rangers and the NHP have refused to answer so far.  Every passing hour, more and more people will become suspicious as to the actions of the cops.  This is sad for the cops involved in the shooings... unless they did something stupid and killed an innocent man.

Obama Judge Not Very Bright

An African American U.S. District judge appointed by President Obama isn't very smart.
From ABC News:
A federal judge who struck down Virginia’s ban on gay marriage inaccurately attributed a quote from Declaration of Independence to the Constitution.
“Our Constitution declares that ‘all men’ are created equal. Surely this means all of us,” Arenda Wright Allen wrote in her original opinion, issued late Thursday.
Though the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees “equal protection” under the law, the Constitution does not include the phrase “all men are created equal.” That would be the Declaration of Independence.
Several judicial observers noted the discrepancy, including South Texas College of Law professor Josh Blackman.
Sure enough, by mid-day today, Allen issued a second draft: “Our Declaration of Independence recognizes that ‘all men’ are created equal.”
Blackman also pointed out that the words “all men” are included in the Virginia Constitution.
Adopted in 1971, Section One of the current Virginia Constitution asserts “all men are by nature equally free and independent and have certain inherent rights.”
Judge Allen’s ruling on the case remained unchanged.  http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/02/oops-va-judge-confuses-constitution-declaration-of-independence-in-gay-marriage-ruling/
How can you trust a judge who's main job in college is to study the hell out the Constitution and interpret it.
But then again, she is an appointment of Obama, who is not known for appointing people with intelligence or ethics.

This Is News?

From CNN: On the heels of a major winter storm that blanketed his state with snow, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie spent Friday at a resort in Puerto Rico with his family.
CNN was alerted to his whereabouts by a person who saw the governor poolside at a resort in San Juan.  http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/14/first-on-cnn-christie-vacationing-in-puerto-rico/
So, this is breaking news of great importance according to CNN.
So, I am sure President Obama is tucked snugly into his bed at the White House.
Well, you would be mistaken as Obama flew to California and Fresno and Palm Springs and just a short trip to Las Vegas where Obama can meet his mistress in Vegas or Palm Springs.

So, CNN rips Christie for vacationing in Puerto Rico and ignores President Obama's trip to Sunny California.
No wonder CNN ratings pretty much suck.

Shocking Ruling But Good

From Fox News: A divided federal appeals court on Thursday struck down California's concealed weapons rules, saying they violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
By a 2-1 vote, the three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said California was wrong to require applicants to show good cause to receive a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
"The right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable firearm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense," Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain wrote for the majority....
Awarding concealed weapon permits is the responsibility of each of California's 58 counties. Officials are required to follow the state rules requiring applicants to show good cause and moral character.
The San Francisco-based appeals court said those requirements were too strict and ran afoul of a 5-4 landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 2008 that struck down a Washington, D.C., handgun ban and said law-abiding citizens are allowed to have handguns in their home for self-defense.
The appeals court on Thursday reinstated a lawsuit filed in 2009 by Edward Peruta, who challenged San Diego County's denial of a concealed weapons permit.
The ruling on Thursday also disagreed with three other federal appeals courts that have upheld permit rules similar to the one in California.
The U.S. Supreme Court often takes cases when federal appeals courts issue conflicting rulings. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/02/13/calif-concealed-weapon-law-tossed-by-fed-appeals-court/?intcmp=latestnews
I am not a gun nut who thinks everyone should be allowed to have a gun without restrictions.
However, the California law makes no sense and has no uniform standards throughout the state when they said a person needs to show cause when they carry a hand gun when out in public.
The shocking part is that the liberal 9th Circuit made this ruling. My guess is that the entire Appeals Court will be asked to hear the case and the result may change when more liberals are there to hear the case.
But it will be nice to know that in California, a person can carry a concealed weapon and be able to use it in case of an emergency.

EPA Steals Land

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)  is home to brown shirted thugs who do nothing more than hassle law abiding citizens and businesses.  But now they are also land thieves, stealing 1,000,000 acres from the State of Wyoming.
From Fox News: Wyoming officials are gearing up for a potential court battle against the Environmental Protection Agency as they try to reverse a sweeping agency ruling that transferred more than 1 million acres of land -- including an entire city of 10,000 -- to Native American tribes.
The dispute started in December when the EPA ruled on a request from the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone tribes, which sought "state status" in order to administer air quality monitoring. The EPA determined the land in question actually belongs to the Wind River Indian Reservation and has for more than a century, despite a 1905 law opening it to non-tribal members. The decision encompassed the city of Riverton.
Unclear is whether the EPA will put a hold on its decision in the short-term. In a petition filed last month, Wyoming Attorney General Peter K. Michael urged the agency to reconsider and at least stay the ruling, warning about the range of disruptive consequences.
Among them:
-- Dozens of tribal members jailed for crimes committed "in the disputed area" potentially could challenge their convictions.
-- Previously issued environmental permits could be invalid.
-- Food processing facilities could be able to operate without regulation.
-- The Wyoming Highway Patrol would be unable to enforce criminal laws in the area.
"EPA's decision casts a shadow of uncertainty over the transactions and day-to-day operations of state agencies, courts, businesses and individuals within the disputed territory," Michael wrote.  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/02/12/wyoming-officials-prepare-for-court-fight-against-epa-ruling-that-gave-land-to/?intcmp=latestnews
Why does the EPA have the authority to steal land from a State and give it to the Indians?  Shouldn't there be another Federal agency be doing this instead?
And in this day and age, why are we giving land to the Indians?
Just more stupidity from the  Obama administration,
