From the Las Vegas Sun: A tip from a hiker walking near Wallace Canyon led to the discovery
of one of the largest outdoor marijuana grow operations in Clark County
on Wednesday, Metro Police officials said.
Officials said the hiker alerted police after he came across four
plots of marijuana plants near the 8,400-foot level of the canyon
located on State Route 160. Officers from a drug-trafficking task force
removed the plants, which could have produced more than 11,000 pounds of
marijuana and was worth an estimated $16.5 million, officials said.
Officials said investigation into the pot operation is ongoing. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jul/26/hiker-discovers-vast-marijuana-grow-operation/
And
The athletic director of College of Southern
Nevada said an assistant baseball coach charged in connection with an
alleged marijuana growth operation has not been employed with the school
since May.
In a statement released Friday, CSN Athletic
Director Marc Morse said he and the school were "surprised" about the
arrest of Ezekial Parraz.
Parraz, 29, was arrested Thursday after police raided his home where 186 marijuana plants were found.
Parraz was charged with possession of a controlled substance and intent to sell.
Morse indicated Parraz was a part-time employee with the school. Parraz' contract expired May 31, Morse said.
