From the Chicago Tribune: Lady Gaga canceled the remainder of her "Born This Way Ball" concert tour to undergo hip surgery, promoters Live Nation said on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old singer announced she was suffering from an inflammation of the joints on Tuesday, but the tour operator said Gaga's injuries were more serious than she realized.
"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip," Live Nation said in a statement.
"She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict downtime to recover. This, unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour so she can heal," it added.
Gaga has been on the road for two years, traveling across six continents.
The singer had announced Tuesday that she’s postponing Chicago shows Wednesday and Thursday at the United Center, as well as subsequent concerts in Detroit and Hamilton, Ontario.
“I am completely devastated and heartsick,” the singer said on her Twitter account and website on Tuesday. “I've been hiding this injury and pain from my staff for a month, praying it would heal, but after last night’s performance I could not walk. To the fans in Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton, I hope you can forgive me as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself right now.” http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-lady-gaga-hip-injury-20130213,0,7652851.story
As a person who has hip problems for many, many years, I understand the pin she is going through. But this will cost people a lot of money, including vendors, stadium/arena operators, parking lot owners etc.
I'm sure Gaga will have insurance for these kind of incidents, but not sure about other people/owners.
