Pawn Stars Review: December 19, 2011

On Friday, Christmas Vacation started for those who go to school in Las Vegas. There was whooping in the hallways, parties thrown in the classrooms and people looking forward for the next 2 1/2 weeks off. And the kids had a good day as well.
In the first episode, the first lady brought in some documents from the Pentagon- daily reports from the Vietnam War era. The papers discussed things about the war, terrorism etc. Rick wasn't sure if it was legal to have the papers, so time for an expert, Mark from the museum. Mark said they were impact daily reports and the reports were from radio news around the world and it was for psychological operations. They were not classified reports and it was OK to own but not really something people collect. No sale.
The next guy brought in a World War 2 Japanese hand held air raid siren. It was a hand crank siren. The guy wanted $300 and Corey offered $150. Corey then went up $200and then $225 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a original Halsman print of Albert Einstein. It was framed and about 3 feet tall. It was signed by the photographer and it was numbered 80 out of 99 prints. Time for an expert. Brad came in to look at the print. He thought it was the only edition of the print and the print was worth about $7,000. The guy wanted $7500 and Rick offered $5000. The guy went down to $7000 but there was no sale.
And now, a new sponsor for Pawn stars- KY Jelly for women (or for guys, I suppose) That's a little different than Subway as a sponsor.
The Old Man and Chumlee went to the North Las Vegas Airport to look at a B-17 airplane. It's a 4 engine EAA B-17. The EAA- Experimental Aircraft Association- is located in Oshkosh, WI and when they have their convention in the Summer, Oshkosh becomes the busiest airport in the world They got a tour of the plane and Chumlee really made a mockery of the segment and IMHO, a real jackass. They then were given an opportunity to fly in the plane. They went over Las Vegas and Red Rock, which were the red mountains. Something tells me that they really didn't fly because they didn't have any ear protection on, but I could be wrong.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in some Secret Service Credentials from an Attorney General J. Howard McGrath. http://www.answers.com/topic/j-howard-mcgrath There was a counterfeit $10 bill. Rick was afraid that you could not own some of the items. Mark came in to look at the documents. Mark said that the documents were legitimate. He said the $10 counterfeit bill was illegal to own but everything else was ok and it was collectible. The guy wanted $1000 and Rick countered with $400. The guy went down to $500 and that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in a Soundwagon Record Player, which was a toy VW bus that went around a record and played music. It was on the Johnny Carson show. The guy wanted $500 and the Old Man countered $100 and then $125 and finally $150 and that was the sale price.
The next lady brought in an electronic 1979 horse analyzer. It was used to predict horse races. It was hand held with the buttons and you needed to input information about the horse and it would say who might win at the track. The lady wanted $150 and Rick offered $10 and then $11 and that was the sale price. It was a nice toy for the Old Man and the Old Man went downtown to play the ponies, maybe at Binnions in downtown Las Vegas, on Fremont St.. The Old Man played the ponies and won $15.
The next guy brought in a 1962 Mighty Mite, a military vehicle and looks like an old Jeep. The Mighty Mite was used in the Vietnam War and is pictured above. The guy wanted $23,000 and Rick had Danny come down. They took it for a test drive, without a license plate and it ran great. Danny thought it was worth about $13-15,000. The owner thought it was a real low price. The guy still wanted $22,000 and Rick offered $13,000 and $14,000 and there was no sale.
That wraps up another 2 new episodes of Pawn stars and surprisingly, they did not have a Christmas episode this year. There will be 2 new episodes next week.
Have a nice week and have a Merry Christmas.
