I always wondered how much money priests make as a salary and today, at the sentencing of Monsignor Keven McAuliffe, we found out how much money he was paid: $70,000 a year.
From the LVRJ: Brown also noted investigators examined gaming records, McAuliffe's financial records and financial documents related to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Las Vegas Diocese.
They noted gaming records showed McAuliffe gambled away amounts far in excess of his $70,000 annual salary.

I would never have thought priests made that much money, after all, it's not like they have to support a family. Obviously, McAuliffe and many other priests in Las Vegas don't take a vow of poverty.
Another Drone Theory! "Conspiracy"????

Priests in the Diocese of Las Vegas do not earn $70,000 per year but about 1/2 that -- about $35,000. At least that is what they are officially allowed. What they earn in addition to that is mostly what they are stealing. However, they are provided room and board in addition to the $35,000. This is permitted by the IRS to all clergy of all religions. Room and board is subject to 15% self-employment tax but not to income tax. The $35,000 is subject to income tax as well as FICA.
