A Metro helicopter went down on a Las Vegas street and has blocked an intersection.
The
helicopter went down about 1:29 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of
Bonanza Road and 23rd Street, near Eastern Avenue, police said. It
wasn’t clear if it was a crash or hard landing.
Two officers have
been taken to University Medical Center, but there conditions were not
immediately available. No one else was reported injured.
The Las Vegas Fire Department reported that there were no fires at the site.

update from Channel 13 Las Vegas: Two police officers are hospitalized after a Las Vegas police helicopter crashed on a residential street northeast of downtown.
Police Officer Laura Meltzer says the crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The two officers were taken to University Medical Center.
The Federal Aviation Administration reports that the injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.
Police say there are no reports that anyone on the ground was hurt.

Also video from UMC showed that the cops did get a police escort to the hospital and that Metro had closed down the area around UMC Trauma.
Update from Channel 3 Las Vegas: Two Metro pilots injured when their helicopter crashed northeast of downtown Las Vegas this afternoon are expected to recover.
Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie visited the pilots within the past 30 minutes at UMC and said both pilots were talking. He told a News 3 reporter that they were wither their families and that they would be "fine."
Officer Laura Meltzer confirmed that the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. It came down on the street. there did not appear to be any injuries on the ground.
Photos showed the pilot cabin to be intact with damage to the rotor and tail.
The last time a Metro helicopter went down was September 2012 during a training flight at North Las Vegas Airport.
The Metro Air Support Unit’s fleet consists of one Hughes 500D, three McDonnell Douglas 530Fs, one Bell 407, two Bell HH1H Hueys, and a Cessna Skylane TR182.
