Roger Ebert, a film critic, comes out ripping Rush Limbaugh about going through the White House website regarding donating to the Hatai earthquake fund: You should be horse-whipped for the insult you have paid to the highest office of our nation.Having followed President Obama's suggestion and donated money to the Red Cross for relief in Haiti, I was offended to hear you suggest the President might be a thief capable of stealing money intended for the earthquake victims....Unlike you and Justin of Raleigh, I went to Obama's web site, and discovered the link there leads directly to the Red Cross. I can think of a reason why anyone might want to go via the White House. That way they can be absolutely sure they're clicking on the Red Cross and not a fake site set up to exploit the tragedy. (Bold is mine) http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100114/OPINION/100119985
I actually did click through the web site from the White House (http://www.whitehouse.gov/) and there is no direct link to the Red Cross. There is a link for donations to the Bush/Clinton relief funds. That fund mentions nothing about the Red Cross. There was no direct link to the Red Cross. But this didn't stop some Milwaukee area bloggers from spouting off: http://whallah.blogspot.com/2010/01/ebert-gives-limbaugh-thumb-to-eye.html
and: http://folkbum.blogspot.com/ for a post done on 1/18/2010 by Keith Schmitz.
Oh well, facts don't mean anything to bloggers.

Gee, Dan, when I did it, the very first link was *gasp* directly to Red Cross. But you go right on believing a racist gas bag instead of your very own eyes.
ReplyDeleteYou must have gone to a different web site, like the White House web site blog. But that is not Ebert says.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you have to go through the White House blog, read all their crap and hope to find the link.
But nice try, though.
Roger Ebert also does not accept most of the comments from people who disagree with him on his blog -- making it seem like most of the people agree with him.
ReplyDeleteHe also smeared Glenn Beck -- by saying that Glenn said "Jesus was a Nazi".
ReplyDeleteWell, Old Roger won't be saying too much because of his disability, but unfortunately, he won't keep his pen quiet either.
