Being from Wisconsin and being conservative, I have heard how bad for business Illinois is. Wisconsinites believe that will help them, but we hear today that Las Vegas is going to be a benefactor of Illinois liberalism and unionism.
From the LVRJ: A major convention has reversed a decision to book a convention hall in Chicago in 2013 and will instead come to Las Vegas.
Car Care World Expo has reversed its decision to book McCormick Place for 2013 and will becoming the first trade show to leave Chicago after a federal court ruling invalidated labor changes enacted by the Illinois Legislature last year, the Chicago Tribune reported for a story on its website.
"Until the work rules are on par with Las Vegas, it's a no-go for us," said Eric Wulf, chief executive officer of the International Carwash Association, told the newspaper.
The story on the website reported that the Chicago-based trade group has held its show in Las Vegas for the past five years. The 2013 show will now also be in Las Vegas.
The show attracts about 6,000 exhibitors and attendees, who together would have spent an estimated $8.5 million in the Chicago area, according to the report.

The real story is this: Illinois knew it had a problem with unions and conventions. You were required to have unions involved in almost ever step of the way, from unloading equipment before the convention to loading the equipment after the convention was over. The union was also required during the convention as well.
The Illinois politic ans realized this was a problem, so they passed a law the diminished the use of union labor at conventions. However, the Federal courts struck down this law and the unions were back in control of conventions in Illinois.
So, the Car Care convention, which had booked their convention in Chicago, decided to come back to Las Vegas, where union involvement is not as bad because we have a right to work state.
So, thank you Illinois unions and the Federal court for giving Las Vegas a convention that we had lost earlier.
