From The El Paso Times: The Starbucks Coffee Company has paid $75,000 to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to settle a lawsuit for unlawfully denying a reasonable accommodation to a woman with dwarfism, according to a press release.
The lawsuit was filed by the commission on behalf of Elsa Sallard, who claimed she was fired from her job as a barista because she is a dwarf.
According to a press release from the commission, Sallard told employers during a training that she could use a stool or stepladder to do her job.
"The manager at the El Paso Starbucks location disregarded Sallard's request," the release said. "On the same day that Sallard requested the accommodation, Starbucks terminated her employment, claiming that she would pose a 'danger' to customers and employees."
Commission officials said that the settlement not only compensates Sallard, but is an agreement that Starbucks will provide training in compliance with Americans With Disabilities Act.

Yep, using a step ladder or stool and handling hot water and coffee is a really safe combination.
Maybe she can go to the EEOC because the Miami Heat won't hire her as the center of the team.
Some times life sucks and you cannot do what you want to do. I wish I could be a NASCAR racer but my eyesight and reflexes are not good enough.
I also could not work in the Navy as a submariner because I was too tall. Could I sue?
The EEOC is a joke and should be disbanded and let private lawyers take over. If there is a legitimate case of discrimination, a lawyer can take the case because they would make some money. But when you have the EEOC, you get cases like this and because the store will have to pay $75,000, someone may lose their because of this stupid settlement.
And what does this woman get? Maybe nothing as the story says the money is going to the EEOC. Can you say extortion?
Time to get rid of the EEOC.
