The U.W. Men's Cross Country team finished first in the NCAA championships today.
From jsonoline: The University of Wisconsin-Madison's men cross country team won the NCAA Championship on Monday morning in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Badgers, ranked first in the NCAA poll, won their fifth title and first since 2005. The title was the first for coach Mick Byrne, in his fourth year at UW.
UW finished fourth in Byrne's first season (2008), seventh in '09 and fourth last season.
UW finished with 97 team points, 42 points ahead of two-time defending Oklahoma State (139). Colorado finished third with 144 points. BYU (203) and Stanford (207) rounded out the top five teams.
Mohammed Ahmed was the top finisher for UW, placing fifth. Four of UW's five runners were honored as All-Americans. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/134253243.html
The Wisconsin cross country teams, men and women, have always been strong and I remember watching some of the national championships when they were held in Madison, while I was a cross country runner at Wauwatosa East and Oconomowoc.
So, congratulations to the National Champions, the Wisconsin Badgers cross country team.
