Again, How Different Is North Korea Than The U.S. (Especially Liberals)?

The national media has been trying to report on the death of Kim Jong-il, the dead former ruler of North Korea. Jong-il was a murderous tyrant who ran his country into the ground, with the exception of his military, spying and terrorism. The media is trying to portray the citizens of North Korea as having whitewashed minds and act kind of crazy. But when you read the stories, the North Koreans just don't seem to different from those in the U.S., especially U.S. liberals.
From an article in the Chicago Tribune: The world watched anxiously on Wednesday as North Korea staged a huge funeral in the capital, Pyongyang, for former leader Kim Jong-il, searching for signs of what to expect from the isolated nation that may be close to attaining nuclear weapons capacity.Bleak pictures from state television showed a funeral cortege led by a limousine carrying a huge picture of the 69-year old, who died on December 17, passing serried ranks of olive green-clad soldiers whose bare heads were bowed in homage in the main square of the snow-covered capital.A hearse carrying the coffin was led by a weeping Kim Jong-un, the son and heir, accompanied by Jang Song-thaek, his uncle and a key power-broker in the transition, and Ri Yong-ho, the army chief of staff. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-korea-north-funeraltre7bq0ss-20111227,0,4549664,full.story
This would be no different than when a president of the U.S. dies. There would be a somber parade, with the military having a strong presence and the family would follow the hearse. In addition, the media, especially when a sitting president dies, wonders what policies would carry on and which ones would not under the new president.
"Seeing this white snow fall has made me think of the general's efforts and this brings tears to my eyes," Seo Ju-rim, a red-cheeked, weeping female soldier, told North Korean television, referring to Kim.One of the myths surrounding Kim Jong-il was that he could control the weather and state media has reported unusually cold and wild weather accompanying his death.
Well, Al Gore and a bunch of lefties think man has created global warming which in turn has caused natural disasters, thus man controlling the weather. Making it cold or wet on demand doesn't happen yet, unless you include cloud seeding.
Video showed weeping civilians who swayed with grief and shouted "father, father" as black Lincoln and Mercedes limousines and army trucks streamed past the crowds. It was not clear whether the pictures were live or recorded."I wished it was a dream, how can this be true," sobbed one middle-aged woman named Kim. "How can anything like this ever happen in the world?"
God forbid, if President Obama died in a tragic golfing accident on one of his many vacations, people will saying and crying the same way as these people in North Korea. In fact, Obama's hard core supporters probably would even be more emotional.
State television showed Jang Song-thaek walking directly behind Kim Jong-un alongside the limousine carrying the coffin. Jang ranks a lowly 19th in the list of names on the state funeral committee but his public elevation confirms that he will play a key role in shaping policies.
In the United States we do this during a president's State of the Union address- see who's included and where they sit and then guess what that means in terms of who in the president's good graces and who is in his dog house.
The United Nations, in a country program for 2011-15, says North Korea's main challenge is to "restore the economy to the level attained before 1990" and to alleviate food shortages for a third of its 25 million population.Indications from the transition since Kim Jong-il's death suggest his "military first" policy will continue, leading to further hardship in a country that endured mass starvation in the 1990s.
The Democrats and liberals accuse the Republicans and conservatives of doing the same thing, every year, especially at election time. How many times has a Democrat accused conservatives trying to kill the elderly and the disabled because of Social Security and welfare issues?
Official media in the North have built Kim Jong-un, a jowly and rotund man in his late 20s, into a leader worthy of inheriting the crown, naming him "respected general," "great successor," "outstanding leader" and "supreme commander."
And the liberal media have done the same with Obama. From getting him elected (Chris Matthew's tingle up his leg) to ignoring all the scandals in the White House to trying to get him elected in 2012, most in the media are Obama's lap dogs.
This year, dissident groups based in South Korea, citing North Korean refugees and businessmen working in China, linked the youngest Kim to a crackdown on business activities and a tougher policy on people seeking to flee from North Korea.
Well, Obama's policies certainly have hurt small business owners because of regulations, taxes and economic insecurity.
It also gives little hope for the 200,000 North Koreans who human rights group Amnesty international says are enslaved in labor camps, subjected to torture and hunger or execution.
Liberals have said the same thing about Gitmo, until Obama was elected. Now the liberals are silent on the issue. There are also way more than 200,000 people in prison in the U.S.. We have about 2 million people in prison and another 5 million on probation or parole.
"That is especially because of the relative instability of Kim Jong-un's leadership. There might also be persecution as a way of intimidation and discipline."
The same thing happens in the U.S. People who dare dare have a different opinion of liberals, especially, are shouted down or threatened. Just look what has happened and is happening now in Wisconsin. And it happens all across the country. Occupiers, who I am no fan of, have been arrested, sometimes without cause. Of course, they also like to deny people's rights as well when they disrupt traffic, keep people from working or going to a park. And the GOP isn't totally Innocent either, they have fired people who disagree with them.
While there are obvious differences between North Korea and the U.S., the emotions of the citizens are pretty much the same and the roles of the media seem to be the same, especially when it comes to the liberal media of the U.S. And the politicians are not that much different than those in North Korea. When the Dem's are in power, the Dem's bow down to the Dem president and the same for the GOP congress when we have a GOP president.
So, we really are not that much different, after all. What a shock.
