From ESPN: Kobe Bryant is still dealing with pain and swelling in his left knee and will be sidelined for at least three more weeks before he is re-examined, the Los Angeles Lakers said Tuesday.
Bryant was re-evaluated by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo on Tuesday before the Lakers' 104-92 loss to the NBA-leading Indiana Pacers.
"I'm sure they're going to take every measure to be cautionary," said Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni. "At this point there's no use forcing him back, so when he's ready he'll play and time will heal his wound and he'll come on when he's ready."
The updated timeline will effectively end the debate as to whether Bryant should play in the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans on Feb. 16. Bryant said last week that he felt undeserving of his starting bid and preferred that his spot on the team go to one of the "young guys" who had appeared and excelled in more games this season.
Bryant had previously said he hoped fans wouldn't vote for him, but the fourth-leading scorer in NBA history was elected to the game for the 16th straight time anyway. Assuming Bryant is unable to play in the All-Star Game, the NBA will pick his replacement on the West team. The West coach would pick a new starter. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/10368366/kobe-bryant-los-angeles-lakers-examined-again-three-weeks
Anybody who voted for Kobe to be a started on the All Star team is a complete idiot and should be committed to a insane asylum.
The guy has only played in 6 games this season. That is not All Star material, no matter what he has done in the past.
Hell, why not vote Wilt Chamberlin in as an All Star. Who cares that he's dead, he plays as good as Kobe does now.
Yeah, NBA fans are idiots.
