Pawn Stars Review: January 16, 2014

I was reading an on line article from the Philippines and Pawn Stars are big over there.

In the first episode, the story line was Rick producing a new commercial for the Gold and Silver Shop.  Chumlee tried to make a commercial but was stopped by Rick and irritated everyone.  Chumlee made a commercial which was a like a rap video.  The Old Man thought Chumlee's commercial was better and so they are going to use the commercial.  I wonder if we will ever see it.
You can really tell that Chumlee has lost a lot of weight.

The first guy came in with a space jet pack from the 1960's.  The guy wanted $250,000.  Someone found it in a scrap yard.  2 Astronauts- Buzz Aldrin and Gene Cernan autographed the pack as well.  This was a prototype and never was in space.  There were conditions issues and Rick didn't want to buy it and suggested he fix it up and so they went to Rick Dale to have it worked on.  They never followed up on it.

The lady wanted $5000 and time for the expert, Rebecca.  Chumlee handled the sale and acted like clown, much to the dismay of the seller.  Rebecca thought the drawing and signature in the book was real.  Rebecca thought the book was worth about $3200-3500.  The lady came down to $3000 and Chumlee offered $1200 to $1400 and that was the selling price.  The exchange between the seller and Chumlee seemed awfully scripted.

The next guy brought in a Remco toy bazooka.  It came with a box, making it more valuable.  Corey shot it and supposedly hit Rick in the eye.  The guy wanted $500 and time for Johnny and he said everything was there and it was worth about $500.  Corey offered $200 and the guy stuck at $500 and Corey offered $350 and then $375 and that was the sale price. 
The story line of the 2nd episode was the Old Man needed to eat more healthy and so he ate fried fish and French fries.  Corey then thought abut his gene pool and how he would look when he was older.
Chumlee then told them how he lost all his weight- vegetables.  The Old Man tried Chumlee's diet but he also had a pie hidden in his desk to snack on.
Chumlee weighs 240 pounds and a year ago, he weighed 320.  He lost the weight to ride on a hoover craft the shop bought earlier, that went 1mph.

The first guy brought in the contract between Ron Epstein and the Beatles.

The guy wanted $1,000,000.  Time for an expert. The expert was Steve Grad.  He looked at all the signatures and said the signatures and the contract were real.  He said the contract was worth $500,000.  The seller stayed at $1,000,000.  Rick offered $350,000 (without asking his partners) and Rick stayed at $350,000 cash.  No sale.


The next guy brought in USSR Cold War Altitude Suit and helmet.  He thought it was from around the 1980's.
The guy wanted $2000 and Corey needed an expert, Mark from the Clark County Museum and the McCarran Airport museum.
The Beard of Knowledge came in and it looks like he finally trimmed his beard.
He said the suit was real and they did go to auction.
Corey offered $750 for both and the guy came down to $850 and the sale price was $750.



The next lady brought in a dead fruit bat that was stuffed by a taxidermist.  The lady wanted $150 and Corey offered $100 and that was the selling price...seriously, $100 for a stuffed bat?
That ends another 2 new episodes. 
It may be me, but the shows quality is going down hill.  The scenes are more scripted with bad acting.  In the beginning, and I have watched and commented/blogged on all their shows, the acting was ore natural and believable.
They still have interesting items coming in but the story lines are less and less believable, especially with Chumlee.
