No NASCAR In Milwaukee?

The Milwaukee Mile, a historic race car track at the Wisconsin State fair Park is about to lose two NASCAR races because of financial difficulties. "Craig Barkelar, the Wisconsin State Fair's interim executive, conceded Friday afternoon what many had suspected in the racing community: Historic Mile didn't have enough money.
"Everyone that Historic Mile was counting on has backed out at the last moment," Barkelar said Friday.
The acknowledgment means that the Wisconsin State Fair has no one to promote races at the track and puts the future of the historic racetrack in jeopardy. NASCAR has scheduled two races next year at the track, but right now there is no group available to run it."

A NASCAR event brings in a lot of people and cash for the city that hosts it. In Vegas, we had the trucks race last weekend and there were about 60-70 thousand people in the stands. We also have the Sprint and Nationwide races in the Spring. Many people come from out of town and pour in a lot of money into the local economy.
If Milwaukee/West Allis lose the NASCAR events, it will cost the local economy 100's of thousands of dollars, if not more for each event. What a shame and embarrassment for the Milwaukee area.
